  • A nonlinear control scheme for preventing limit cycle due to the nonlinearity of themulti-step bang-bang actuator in mechanical position control systems is proposed. A linearized model, SIDF, fora multi-step bang-bang actuator is introduced to compensate the nonlinearity of the multi-step bang-bang actuator. Using that model, a $H_{\infty}$robust controller for position control systms with a bang-bang actuator is proposed by loop shaping tecniques with normalized coprime factorization stabilization to address the robustness. The proposed scheme needs a smaller deadband as a result of compensating the nonlinearity of the bang-bang actuator. A single-axis servo system is served in order to verify the proposed control scheme experimentally. Experimental results show that the controller can satisfy the special intersts, silent contact switching of the actuator.r.

  • A multi-step optimum strategy for the selection of the locations and directions of strain gauges is proposed in this paper to capture at best the modal response of blade in a series of modes on fan blades. It is consist of three steps including two pass reduction step, genetic algorithm and fine optimization to find the locations-directions of strain gauges. The optimization is based upon the maximum signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of measured strain values with respect to the inherent system measurement noise, the mispositioning of the gauge in location and gauge failure. Optimal gauge positions for a fan blade is analyzed to prove the effectiveness of the multi-step optimum methodology and to investigate the effects of the considering parameters such as the mispositioning level, the probability of gauge failure, and the number of gauges on the optimal strain gauge position.

  • This paper deals with ZMP trajectory generation in multi step walking of IWR-III(Inha Walking Robot) Biped Walking Robot. Biped walking is realized by combining 6-types of pre-defined steps and the actual ZMP can be used as a stability index of a robot. For the good tracking of actual ZMP, desired ZMP trajectory is generated during the whole walking time not for each step. Trajectory generation is performed considering velocities and accelerations of given via points using 5-th order polynomial interpolation method. As a result, balancing joints have a more smooth and continuous motion and actual ZMP has a better tracking ability. Numerical simulator is done by MATLAB to guarantee the walking of a robot satisfying the ZMP stability.

  • In this research, the feasibility of distributed finite element analysis system with STEP and CORBA has been investigated. The enabling technologies such as CORBA and Java play key roles in the development of integrated and geographically distributed application software. In addition to the distribution of analysis modules, numerical solution process itself is again divided into parallel processes using multi-frontal method for computational efficiency. In contrast to the specially designed parallel process for specific hardware, CORBA-based parallel process is well suited for heterogeneous platforms over the network. The idea of Web-based distributed analysis system may be applied to the engineering ASP for design and analysis in the product development processes. We believe that the proposed approach for the analysis can be extended to the entire product development process for sharing and utilizing common product data in the distributed engineering environment, thus eventually provide basis for virtual enterprise.

  • For electrode stability and the electrochemical performance of the Li-ion cell, it is essential that the active ingredients and unique additives in the polymer binder be well dispersed with the solvent-based slurry. The efficient procedure used to create the slurry affects the rheological characteristics of the electrode slurry. When successively adding different steps of Nmethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent to the cathode composition, it is evenly disseminated. The electrochemical performance of the Li-ion cells and the electrodes made with slurry formed by single step and multiple steps of addition of NMP solvent are examined. To preform rheological properties of cathode electrode slurry on Ni-rich Lithium Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum Oxide (LiNi0.80Co0.15Al0.05) (NCA). Also, we investigate different step addition of electrode formation and mechanical strength characterization like peel strength. According to the EIS study, a multi-step electrode slurry has lower internal resistance than a single-step electrode slurry, which results in better electrical characteristics and efficiency. Further, microstructure of electrodes is obtained electrochemical performance in the 18650 cylindrical cells with targeted capacity of 1.5 Ah. The slurry of electrodes prepared by single step and multiple steps of addition of NMP solvent and its effect on the fabrication of 1.5 Ah cells. A three-step solvent addition on slurry has been found to be a lower internal resistance than a single-step electrode slurry as confirmed by the EIS analysis, yielding improved electrical properties and efficiency.

  • In the maritime container terminal, LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Technology) is horizontal transfer system for the yard automation, which has been proposed to take the place of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle). The system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) that is consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car (mover). Because of large variant of mover's weight by loading and unloading containers, the difference of each characteristic of stator modules, and a stator module's trouble etc., LMCPS (Linear Motor Conveyance Positioning System) is considered as that the system is changed its model suddenly and variously. In this paper, we will introduce the soft-computing method of a multi-step prediction control for LMCPS using DR-FNN (Dynamically-constructed Recurrent Fuzzy Neural Network). The proposed control system is used two networks for multi-step prediction. Consequently, the system has an ability to adapt for external disturbance, cogging force, force ripple, and sudden changes of itself.

  • The 1st and 2nd tension forces of the PSSC(Prestressed Steel and Concrete) grider constructed with commercial rolling beams and concrete are optimally designed. The design variables are the 1st and 2nd tension forces due to multi-step prestressing and live load. The objective function is set to the maximum live load. Design conditions are allowable stresses at the top and bottom of slab, beam and infilled concrete due at the several construction stages. A Matlab based optimization program is developed. The results show that the tendon position as well as concrete compression strength have significant influence on the beam strength.

  • Application of electric wheelchair, sort of wheelchair which is playing important role in transporting patients and old people, has been increasing. In this study, we designed the electric wheelchairs' driving system. Using the multi-step gear, the driving system can get great power, even though the small capacity of motors. First, we designed the multi-step gear, test its bending strength and contact strength, as well as verified its performance. We installed 'B-type electric brake(Multiple plate clutch, Anti-magnetization) in same axle of the driving system, so it is possible to stop under huge torque and small size. Using this driving system of the multi-step gear which we designed, it's possible to improve driving gear efficiency 30% up and create the high-competitive electric wheelchair. And, it is easy to repair and control.

  • In this study we investigated the effect of the multi-step texturing process on the electrical and optical properties of hydrogenated Al-doped zinc oxide (HAZO) thin films deposited by rf magnetron sputtering. AZO films on glass were prepared by changing the $H_2/(Ar+H_2)$ ratio at a low temperature of $150^{\circ}C$. The prepared HAZO films showed lower resistivity and higher carrier concentration and mobility than those of non-hydrogenated AZO films. After deposition, the surface of the HAZO films was multi-step textured in diluted HCl (0.5%) for the investigation of the change in the optical properties and the surface morphology due to etching. As a result, the HAZO film fabricated under the type III condition showed excellent optical properties with a haze value of 52.3%.

  • In order to overcome the recrystallization embrittlement and irradiation embrittlement of Mo, which are major problems for its fusion applications, internally nitrided Mo alloys were prepared by a novel multi-step internal nitriding. Neutron irradiation was performed in the Japan Material Testing Reactor (JMTR). After irradiation, nitrided Mo alloys exhibited $\iota$ ower ductile-brittle transition temperature than irradiated TZM. These results suggested that multi-step internal nitriding was effective to the improvement in the embrittlement by irradiation. Transmission electron microscope observation revealed that TiN particles precipitated by nitriding acted as a sink for irradiation-induced defects.
