  • The objectives of the study are to present simple physical and mathematical models of liquid fuel in the tank of an aerospace vehicle such launch vehicle or missile and to investigate its dynamic stability for a parameter space. In this paper, liquid in the container is modeled as multi-mass system subject to parametric excitations, and a stability diagram for determination of stable-unstable regions of the motion is obtained by using an analytical method. Also, computer simulations are conducted at various parameter points to verify the analytical results, and time histories of motion are compared to explain the effect of variation of parameters of the system.

  • In controlling a system having many variables to control and multi objectives to satisfy such as a roof crane system, it is often difficult to obtain fuzzy If-Then rules in usual ways. As an alternative, we can more easely obtain rules in such a manner that we obtain each independent group of rules using partial variables for a partial objective. In this case, obtained rules can be conflicting with each other and conventional inference methods cannot handle such rules effectively. In this paper, we propose a roof crane controller with optimal velocity profile generator and a fuzzy logic controller with an inference method suitable for such conflicting rules.

  • The characteristics of an induction motor vary with the number of parameters and the performance relationship between the parameters also is implicit. In case of the induction motor design, we generally should estimate many objective physical quantities in the optimization procedure. In this article, the multi objective design optimization based on genetic algorithm is applied for the three phase induction motor. The efficiency, starting torque, and material cost are selected for the objectives. The validity of the design results is also clarified by comparison between calculated results and measured ones.

  • This paper discusses current challenges, as a result of the rapid increase in air travel, and future navigation needs of Civil Aviation. The objectives pursued by ANASTASIA, a sixth framework European Commission project, are presented. The methods used in the derivation of the navigation performance requirements are introduced and discussed in the context of precision approaches. High-level impacts on the avionics receiver of integrating additional multi-frequency ranging signals from a modernized GPS and Galileo into the current navigation architecture are investigated. Expected performance achievements are presented.

  • This paper demonstrates the application of a Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Zero-One Goal Programming model for selecting interdependent information system project selection, there are a few research for interdependent IS project selection. Effective project evaluation necessities incorporating the many conflicting objectives of decision maker(s) into decision models. Among the many proposed methodologies of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM), Goal Programming (GP) is the most popular and widely used. The model departs from an earlier GP formulation of the problem that suggested QFD method for selection of priorities among the considered attributes or criteria. The application of the proposed methodology illustrated through an example.

  • In this paper, a robust stationary Kalman filter is designed by minimizing selected performance indices so that it is less sensitive to uncertainties. The uncertainties include not only stochastic factors such as process noise and measurement noise, but also deterministic factors such as unknown initial estimation error, modeling error and sensing bias. To reduce the effect on the uncertainties, three performance indices that should be minimized are selected based on the quantitative error analysis to both the deterministic and the stochastic uncertainties. The selected indices are the size of the observer gain, the condition number of the observer matrix, and the estimation error variance. The observer gain is obtained by optimally solving the multi-objectives optimization problem that minimizes the indices. The robustness of the proposed filter is demonstrated through the comparison with the standard Kalman filter.

  • With the rapid urbanization and growing energy use intensity in the built environment, the glazed curtainwall has become ever more important in the architectural practice and environmental stewardship. Besides its energy efficiency roles, window has been an important transparent component for daylight penetration and a view-out for occupant satisfaction. In response to the climate crisis caused by the built environment, this research focuses on the study of net-zero energy retrofitting by using a new building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) curtainwall as a sustainable alternative to conventional window systems. Design variables such as building orientations, climate zones, energy attributes of BIPV curtainwalls, and glazed area were studied, to minimize energy consumption and discomfort hours for three cities representing hot (Miami, FL), mixed (Charlotte, NC), and cold (Minneapolis, MN). Parametric analysis and Pareto solutions are presented to provide a comprehensive explanation of the correlation between design variables and performance objectives for net-zero energy retrofitting applications.

  • Urban Air Mobility (UAM) such as a drone taxi is one of the future transportations that have recently been attracting attention. Along with the construction of an urban terminal, an accurate landing system for UAM is also essential. However, in urban environments, reliable Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) signals cannot be received due to obstacles such as high-rise buildings which causes multipath and non-line of sight signal. Thus, the positioning result in urban environments from the GNSS signal is unreliable. Consequently, we propose the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) network to assist the soft landing of UAM on a vertiport. Since the positioning performance of UWB network depends on the layout of UWB anchors, it is necessary to optimize the layout of UWB anchors. In this paper, we propose a two-steps genetic algorithm that consists of binary genetic algorithm involved multi objectives fitness function and integer genetic algorithm involved robust solution searching fitness function in order to optimize taking into account Fresnel hole effects.

  • Objectives: In this study 54,848 people were selected as participants to investigate the relationship between oral health factors and eating habits education experiences of adolescents using raw data from the 17th (2021) online survey on adolescent health behavior. Methods: Data were collected using the IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 statistical program was used. A multi-sample chi-square test was performed on the dietary education experience according to the general characteristics of the subjects. Logistic regression analysis was performed on factors affecting the eating habits education experience. Results: Eating breakfast and consuming fruits was more frequent among eating habits (p<0.001). Regarding factors influencing dietary habits education, in the case of eating habits education experience, sealant was 1.23 times higher (p<0.001), and tingling & throbbing were 0.93 times lower (p<0.01). Conclusions: Educating adolescents on correct eating habits is related to oral health, hence a school based oral health education program related to eating habits is necessary for adolescents.

  • Optimal topology design is to search the optimal configuration of a structure which can be used as a shape at the conceptual design stage. Our objective is to maximize the stiffness of the structures and ribs under a material usage constraintl. The density of each finite element is the design variable and its relationship with Young's modulus is expressed by quadratic form. The configuration is represented by the entire density distribution, the structural analysis is performed by finite element method and the optimiza- tion is performed by Feasible Direction Method. Feasible Direction Method can handle various problems simultaneously, that is, mult-objectives and multi-constraints. Total computation time can be reduced by the quadratic relationship between the density and the material property and fewer design variables than Homogenization Method. Toplogy optimization technique developed in this research is applied to design the shapes of the ribs.
