Low-Pressure Mercury-Free Fluorescent Lamp for General Lighting

  • In this paper we report on development of our original mercury-less fluorescent lamps for general lighting. These new-type lamps have multi-pairs of electrodes to maintain multi-discharge paths and to keep positive column diffused state. The omission characteristics oft the lamps were investigated. These discharge lamps were operated by pulsed discharge. By using multi-pairs of electrodes for xenon pulsed discharge fluorescent lamps, higher intensity of luminance was obtained than the conventional type of lamps using single pair of electrodes. Recently this type of lamp achieved over $9000\;cd/m^2$ and 50 lm/W.

  • In this paper, multi discharge type ozonizer has been designed and manufactured. The of ozonizer is equipped with three electrodes(central electrode of screw shape, internal electrode and external electrode). This paper describes the following two characteristics: (1) The characteristics of discharge with variation of output voltage of AC H.V source, flow rate of oxygen supplied gas and discharge voltage. (2) The characteristics of ozone generation by varying flow rate and discharge power.

  • In this paper, high concentration·yield multi-discharge type ozonizer( MDO ) of new discharge type using superposed silent discharge was designed and manufactured. MDO can be consisted with 3 kind of superposed silent discharge type ozonizer( SDO ) in accordance with power supply method that supplying power, which has 180[°] phase difference, to 3 electrodes and double gap. At the moment discharge characteristics and ozone generation characteristics of each SDO were investigated in accordance with quantify of supplied gas, the number of SDO, and the shapes of each SDO. In result ozone generation characteristics of 17185[ppm] and 783[g/kWh] were obtained, and whorl ozone of 17185[ppm] was in contact with dyeing water waste decolonization characteristics was excellent, so it confirmed that MDO could be used as water environment improvement facility.

  • Griemm 형태의 글로우방전셀을 상업용 사중극자 ICP-MS에 장착시켜 다층박막의 표면 분석을 시도하였다. 지름이 2.0mm인 양극과 적절한 실험 최적 조건을 사용한 결과 ${\mu}m$ 두께의 여러층들을 30여 분 이내에 분석할 수 있었다. Cu-Ni 및 Fe-Ni의 다층막을 GDMS로 분석한 결과 10nm정도의 분해능이 가능하였으며, 이는 바닥이 평평한 crater를 얻을 수 있는 실험조건에서 측정하였기 때문이다.

  • A self-discharge in multi-EEFLs and CCFLs has been found to provide a high luminance and efficiency. With a fast rising and falling times of $2{mu}s$, and the peak voltage over 1.6KV, the self-discharge occurs in EEFLs and CCFLs driven by a full bridge switching inverter. Particularly in CCFLs connected with a typical value of ballast capacitance, a self-discharge follows by the main discharge when the voltage falls to the ground.

  • PD(Partial Discharge) signal emitted from PD sources has their intrinsic features in the region of time and frequency. STFT(Short Time Fourier Transform) shows time-frequency distribution at the same time. 2-Dimensional matrices(33${\times}$77) from STFT for PD pulse signals are a good feature vectors and can be decreased in dimension by wavelet 2D data compression technique. Decreased feature vectors(13${\times}$24) were used as inputs of Back-propagation ANN(Artificial Neural Network) for discrimination of Multi-PD sources(air discharge sources(3), surface discharge(1)). They are a good feature vectors for discriminating Multi-PD sources.

  • 차량용 전조등에 사용되어지는 HID(High Intensity Discharge) 발라스트(Ballast)의 특성 개선을 위하여 소프트 스위칭 방식의 멀티 레벨 인버터를 적용하였다. 멀티레벨 인버터의 모드(Mode)별 특성을 해석하고, 그 결과를 통해 발라스트의 출력 특성을 해석하고 시스템을 설계하였다. 그리고 실험을 통하여 해석결과를 확인하였다.

  • A numerical analysis of the micro-discharge in an AC pplasma dispplay cell has been made using time-deppendent, 2-dimensional multi-fluid equations to understand the discharge pphysics of He-Xe discharge. The time deppendent distribution of the electron tempperature, densities of electrons, various ions and excited sppecies, and the effects fo the wall charge accumulated on the dielectric surface are obtained and comppared with the results of direct observation of time deppendent behavior of VUV and visible sppectra from single discharge cell observed using a gated, image intensified CCD to elucidate the discharge physics.

멀티 플라즈마 공정을 이용한 하수 미생물의 불활성화 (Inactivation of Sewage Microorganisms using Multi-Plasma Process)

  • For the field application of dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor, a multi-plasma reactor was investigated for the inactivation of microorganisms in sewage. We also considered the possibility of degradation of non-biodegradable matter ($UV_{254}$) and total organic carbon (TOC) in sewage. The multi-plasma reactor in this study was divided into high voltage neon transformers, gas supply unit and three plasma modules (consist of discharge, ground electrode and quartz dielectric tube). The experimental results showed that the inactivation of microorganisms with treated water type ranked in the following order: distilled water > synthetic sewage effluent >> real sewage effluent. The dissolved various components in the real sewage effluent highly influenced the performance of the inactivation of microorganisms. After continuous plasma treatment for 10 min at 180 V, residual microorganisms appeared below 2 log and $UV_{254}$ absorbance (showing a non-biodegradable substance in water) and TOC removal rate were 27.5% and 8.5%, respectively. Therefore, when the sewage effluent is treated with plasma, it can be expected the inactivation of microorganisms and additional improvement of water quality. It was observed that the $NH_4{^+}$-N and $PO{_4}^{3-}$-P concentrations of sewage was kept at the constant plasma discharging for 30 min. On the other hand, $NO_3{^-}$-N concentration was increased with proceeding of the plasma discharge.

Synthesis and Characterization of TiO2, Cu2O and Al2O3 Aerosol Nanoparticles Produced by the Multi-Spark Discharge Generator

  • The morphology, crystal structure and size of aerosol nanoparticles generated by erosion of electrodes made of different materials (titanium, copper and aluminum) in a multi-spark discharge generator were investigated. The aerosol nanoparticle synthesis was carried out in air atmosphere at a capacitor stored energy of 6 J, a repetition rate of discharge of 0.5 Hz and a gas flow velocity of 5.4 m/s. The aerosol nanoparticles were generated in the form of oxides and had various morphologies: agglomerates of primary particles of $TiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ or aggregates of primary particles of $Cu_2O$. The average size of the primary nanoparticles ranged between 6.3 and 7.4 nm for the three substances studied. The average size of the agglomerates and aggregates varied in a wide interval from 24.6 nm for $Cu_2O$ to 46.1 nm for $Al_2O_3$.
