This study is aimed to improve the youth theft prevention program with rationality and practicality, based on the needs of practitioners who conduct these programs in fields. The survey questionnaire was prepared based on previous researches, and the survey was conducted on 72 probation officers and education instructors nationwide running a youth theft prevention program. As a result, practitioners reported the lack of self-control and high impulsivity as the main characteristics of the theft delinquent adolescents. And they recognized peer alignment and family problems as the causes of theft. As for the contents of the program, they reported that recidivism prevention skills such as understanding psychological problems, peer relationships, raising a sense of law compliance, anger, impulse control, dealing with negative emotions, and finding alternative behaviors, as well as moral development, are necessary. These results indicate that multi-dimensional interventions such as individuals, families, and peers are needed to prevent recidivism of juvenile theft. Implications of these results, future research directions, and limitations and significance of the study were discussed.

This study was conducted to investigate the level of resilience and the factors affecting resilience in nursing students, and to provide basic data to develop a program that improves resilience of nursing students. Data were collected from 155 nursing students in D city from April 15 to May 30, 2018 using the Resilience Scale, College Life Stress Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale (SES), Multi-Dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Positive Affect Scale, and Stress Coping Strategy Scale. Data were analyzed using t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. The mean score for resilience in nursing students was 3.54 points. There was a significant difference in resilience according to academic score and satisfaction with major. Resilience was significantly correlated with self-efficacy, social support, and active stress coping strategy. Factors that impacted resilience in multiple regression were self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.39$, p<0.001), active stress coping strategy (${\beta}=0.26$, p<0.001), and social support (${\beta}=0.16$, p<0.001). These factors explained 51.0% of the variance in the resilience of nursing students. Therefore, it will be necessary to develop a program that can enhance resilience by strengthening protective factors such as self-efficacy, active stress coping strategies, and social support.
The purpose of this study is to identify the overall effect of Family Hope Partner Project conducted by the Korean Association for Children with Leukemia and Cancer (KACLC) for pediatric cancer patients and their families and provide empirical basic data for the support of them. For this purpose, this study applied a qualitative research methodology as follows; 6 parents and 5 children who used the service for more than one year through the Family Hope Partner Project participated in the interviews. The interviews were conducted from June to July 2016, and the collected data were analyzed through the processes of qualitative analysis. The results of this study are as follows. Pediatric cancer patients and their families who were previously confronted with problems such as a 'barrier of severe pain' and 'swirling anxiety and exhaustion' experienced multi-dimensional effects, thanks to the intervention of 'a genuine master serving as a stepping stone toward their recovery and growth', who were linked to the pediatric cancer patients through Family Hope Partner Project. In other words, they experienced positive effects such as 'support for overall rehabilitation of pediatric patients', 'improvement of family relations', 'relief of needs for social relations', and 'liberation from pressure'. The results of this study were meaningful, in that it substantially corroborated the multidimensional effects of the Family Hope Partner Project, and presented the development direction of the Family Hope Partner Project, which was the first of its kind at home and abroad initiated by the Korean Association for Children with Leukemia and Cancer (KACLC) for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
Recent eruptive activity at Kīlauea Volcano started on at the end of April in 2018 showed rapid ground deflation between May and June in 2018. On summit area Halema'uma'u lava lake continued to drop at high speed and Kīlauea's summit continued to deflate. GPS receivers and electronic tiltmeters detected the surface deformation greater than 2 meters. We explored the time-series surface deformation at Kīlauea Volcano, focusing on the early stage of eruptive activity, using multi-temporal COSMO-SkyMed SAR imagery. The observed maximum deformation in line-of-sight (LOS) direction was about -1.5 meter, and it indicates approximately -1.9 meter in subsiding direction by applying incidence angle. The results showed that summit began to deflate just after the event started and most of deformation occurred between early May and the end of June. Moreover, we confirmed that summit's deflation rarely happened since July 2018, which means volcanic activity entered a stable stage. The best-fit magma source model based on time-series surface deformation demonstrated that magma chambers were lying at depths between 2-3 km, and it showed a deepening trend in time. Along with the change of source depth, the center of each magma model moved toward the southwest according to the time. These results have a potential risk of including bias coming from single track observation. Therefore, to complement the initial results, we need to generate precise magma source model based on three-dimensional measurements in further research.
The purpose of the study is to develop a questionnaire that examines unskeptical attitudes in scientific inquiry context. The questionnaire items were developed through literature research, expert review, and statistical analyses for validity and the differences in scores were identified by gender and tracks. A total of 363 high school students participated in the study. To explore the validity evidence of items, the Rasch analysis and the reliability of internal consistency were performed, and the two-way ANOVA was performed to compare the scores of the unskeptical attitudes between gender and academic track. Self-reporting and Likert-scaling 23 items were developed to measure unskeptical attitudes in scientific inquiry context. The items were developed in the sub-domain of scientific inquiry: 'questioning and hypothesis generating,' 'experiment designing,' and 'explaining and interpreting.' Second, the validity and reliability of the unskeptical were identified in a rigorous method. The validity of items were identified by multi-dimensional partial score model analysis through the Rasch model, and all 23 items were found to be fit to model. Various reliability evidences were also found to be appropriate. It was found that there were no significant differences of unskeptical attitude score between the gender and academic track except one comparison. The developed questionnaire could be used to check an unskeptical attitude in the course of scientific inquiry and to compare the effects of scientific inquiry classes.
The purpose of this study is to analyze college students' perception of national natural heritages, including natural monumentsand scenic sites, in comparison with the similar concepts of national parks and eco-landscape preservation areas, to suggest managerial implications to enhance competitiveness. The first objective of this study is to measure their attitude toward traveling each type of natural heritage and to rate the relative importance of the four types of heritages in terms of preservation. Natural monuments were perceived as the most strongly preserved type, while scenic sites were perceived as the least strongly preserved type. The second objective is to conduct a correspondence analysis to match the concepts of four types of natural heritages with 10 tourist attractions representing the types. It was found that college students have difficulty appropriately identifying the types of 10 tourist attractions. In addition, multi-dimensional scaling (MDS) was implemented to identify the similarities and differences of the four types of natural heritages and to produce a positioning map matching the four types of natural heritages with the six attributes representing each type as a tourist attraction. Natural monuments were perceived very differently from scenic sites and not very differently from eco-landscape preservation areas. There were a few associations between the four types of natural heritages and the six tourism attributes, implying that little effort is made to promote and position each type of natural heritage in terms of tourism. In conclusion, a public awareness program is required to enhance the brand image of natural monuments and scenic sites in comparison to national parks and eco-landscape preservation areas. In addition, local residents who live near the natural heritages should be bolstered to play a managerial role as supporters and contents providers for sustainability.

It is well known that an Oscillating Water Column Wave Energy Converter (OWC-WEC) is one of the most efficient wave absorber equipment. This device transforms the vertical motion of water column in the air chamber into the air flow velocity and produces electricity from the driving force of turbine as represented by the Wells turbine. Therefore, in order to obtain high electric energy, it is necessary to amplify the water surface vibration by inducing resonance of the piston mode in the water surface fluctuation in the air chamber. In this study, a new type of OWC-WEC with a seawater channel is used, and the wave deformation by the structure, water surface fluctuation in the air chamber, air outflow velocity from the nozzle and seawater flow velocity in the seawater channel are evaluated by numerical analysis in detail. The numerical analysis model uses open CFD code OLAFLOW model based on multi-phase analysis technique of Navier-Stokes solver. To validate model, numerical results and existing experimental results are compared and discussed. It is revealed within the scope of this study that the air flow velocity at nozzle increases as the Ursell number becomes larger, and the air velocity that flows out from the inside of the air chamber is larger than the velocity of incoming air into the air chamber.
Categorical data with non-responses are frequently observed in election poll surveys, and can be represented by incomplete contingency tables. To estimate supporting rates of candidates, the identification of the missing mechanism should be pre-determined because the estimates of non-responses can be changed depending on the assumed missing mechanism. However, it has been shown that it is not possible to identify the missing mechanism when using observed data. To overcome this problem, sensitivity analysis has been suggested. The previously proposed sensitivity analysis can be applicable only to two-way incomplete contingency tables with binary variables. The previous sensitivity analysis is inappropriate to use since more than two of the factors such as region, gender, and age are usually considered in election poll surveys. In this paper, sensitivity analysis suitable to an multi-dimensional incomplete contingency table is devised, and also applied to the 19th Korean presidential election poll survey data. As a result, the intervals of estimates from the sensitivity analysis include actual results as well as estimates from various missing mechanisms. In addition, the properties of the missing mechanism that produce estimates nearest to actual election results are investigated.

Today, there is increasing recognition of the importance of urban regeneration for better public places. Urban parks as a public area play an important role in harnessing its positive impact on people's well-being: where the standards and funding of/for the parks are getting worse. There is however less a focus on policy approach to park regeneration in the country. Neverthless, a few UK's cases of such innovative park management(PM) has shown successful park regeneration based on policy support. Therefore, the aim of this research is to draw policy implications by exploring a case of successful park regeneration. To address the aim, this research conducts an in-depth case study of 'Manor Fields Park, UK', digging into its PM structure and PM body 'Green Estate Ltd' in relation to relevant policy. The data is mainly collected by interviews including a group interview. The analytical framework 'Place-keeping(PK)' and its six dimensions are employed to determine the characteristics of MFP's PM structure. Resultingly, there is a significant shift in the approach to PM which stresses the principle of long-term and self-sustaining structure led by a non-profit organisation and strong impacts of policy. In this context, PK highlights significant drivers for parks regeneration particularly in terms of policy implications: 1)providing policy support to encourage non-profit organisations in PM, 2)extending community involvement in decision-making processes, 3)promoting income generation by community groups, 4)shifting public awareness of shared responsibility for PM, 5)completing regular park maintenance assessment by community groups, and 6)delivering low-maintenance approaches to PM. To support these implications, PM structure for successful parks regeneration does meet a holistic and multi-dimensional approach of place-keeping underlined by understanding policy contexts and rethinking current status quo of PM. Addressing these implications will shed light on urban PM in an era of austerity and ultimately contribute to improving people's well-being.
Purpose: To reduce the damage caused by continuously occurring typhoons, we proposed a standardized grid so that it could be actively utilized in the prevention and preparation stage of typhoon response. We established grid-based convergence information on the typhoon risk area so that we showed the effectiveness of information used in disaster response. Method: To generate convergent information on typhoon hazard areas that can be useful in responding to typhoon situation, we used various types of data such as vector and raster to establish typhoon hazard area small grid-based information. A standardized grid model was applied for compatibility with already produced information and for compatibility of grid information generated by each local government. Result: By applying the grid system of National branch license plates, a grid of typhoon risk areas in Seoul was constructed that can be usefully used when responding to typhoon situations. The grid system of National branch license plates defines the grid size of a multi-dimensional hierarchical structure. And a grid of typhoon risk areas in Seoul was constructed using grids of 100m and 1,000m. Conclusion: Using real-time 5km resolution grid based weather information provided by Korea Meteorological Administration, in the future, it is possible to derive near-future typhoon hazard areas according to typhoon travel route prediction. In addition, the national branch number grid system can be expanded to global grid systems for global response to various disasters.
