Modern mobile devices are equipped with various accelerated processing units to handle computationally intensive applications; therefore, Open Computing Language (OpenCL) has been proposed to fully take advantage of the computational power in heterogeneous systems. This article introduces a parallel software decoder of Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes on an embedded heterogeneous platform using an OpenCL framework. The LDPC code is one of the most popular and strongest error correcting codes for mobile communication systems. Each step of LDPC decoding has different parallelization characteristics. In the proposed LDPC decoder, steps suitable for task-level parallelization are executed on the multi-core central processing unit (CPU), and steps suitable for data-level parallelization are processed by the graphics processing unit (GPU). To improve the performance of OpenCL kernels for LDPC decoding operations, explicit thread scheduling, vectorization, and effective data transfer techniques are applied. The proposed LDPC decoder achieves high performance and high power efficiency by using heterogeneous multi-core processors on a unified computing framework.
We present a low-density parity-check (LDPC)-based, threaded layered space-time-frequency system with emphasis on the iterative receiver design. First, the unbiased minimum mean-squared-error iterative-tree-search (U-MMSE-ITS) detector, which is known to be one of the most efficient multi-input multi-output (MIMO) detectors available, is improved by augmentation of the partial-length paths and by the addition of one-bit complement sequences. Compared with the U-MMSE-ITS detector, the improved detector provides better detection performance with lower complexity. Furthermore, the improved detector is robust to arbitrary MIMO channels and to any antenna configurations. Second, based on the structure of the iterative receiver, we present a low-complexity belief-propagation (BP) decoding algorithm for LDPC-codes. This BP decoder not only has low computing complexity but also converges very fast (5 iterations is sufficient). With the efficient receiver employing the improved detector and the low-complexity BP decoder, the proposed system is a promising solution to high-data-rate transmission over selective-fading channels.

The applications of CFD in the design process of a transonic civil transport at Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) are outlined. Three Navier-Stokes solvers, developed at KARI with different grid approaches, are used to predict the aerodynamic coefficients and solve the flowfield of various configurations. Multi-block, Chimera, and unstructured grids are the approaches implemented. The accuracy of the codes is verified for the transonic flow about RAE wing/fuselage configuration. The multi-block code is used to provide the detailed data on the flowfield around a wall interference model with different test section sizes which will be used in establishing the wall interference correction method. The subsonic and transonic flowfields about K100-04A, one of the configurations of a 100-seater transport developed by KARI and Korea Commercial Aircraft Development Consortium (KCDC), are computed to predict the aerodynamic coefficients. The results for the subsonic flow are compared with those of wind tunnel test, and the agreement is found to be excellent. The interference effect of nacelle installation on the wing of K100-04A is also investigated using the unstructured grid method, and about 10% reduction in wing lift is observed. The accuracy of the three developed codes is verified, and they are used as an efficient tool in the design process of a transonic transport.

In this paper we propose a reversible image coding methods with progressive build-up function by bit-plane of multi-lavel image. Firstly, the differencial conversion is applied to reduce the entropy of source images. Then the bit-plane sequences of converted images are coded by means of the newly designed VFRL(Variable to Fixed Run-Llength) code and the RDHC(Run-length Dynamic Huffman Coding). We aim to the simple construction to reduce the complexity. The computer simulated results show that the proposed methods are very effective to the multi-level digital images. For "GIRL" and "COUPLE" of 1EEE monochromatic standard images, the compressibility are superior to the results obtained by the well-known universal codes.own universal codes.
The Multi-Physics (MP) instrument is one of 20 neutron spectrometers planned in the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). This paper presents a shielding calculation for the MP instrument using Monte Carlo codes MCNPX and FLUKA. First, the neutrons that escape from the CSNS decoupled water moderator and are delivered to the beam line of the MP instrument are calculated to use as the source term of the shielding calculation. Then, to validate the calculation method based on multiple variance reduction techniques, a cross check between MCNPX and FLUKA codes is performed by comparing the calculation results of the dose rate distribution on a simplified beam line model. Finally, a complete geometry model of the MP instrument is set up, and the primary parameters for the shielding design are obtained according to the calculated dose rate map considering different worst-case scenarios.

Although all printed cost-less radio frequency identification (RFID) tags have been considered as a core tool for bringing up a ubiquitous society, the difficulties in integrating thin film transistors (TFTs), diodes and capacitors on plastic foils using a single in-line printing method nullify their roles for the realization of the ubiquitous society1,2. To prove the concept of all printed cost-less RFID tag, the practical degree of the integration of those devices on the plastic foils should be successfully printed to demonstrate multi bit RFID tag. The tag contains key device units such as 13.56 MHz modulating TFT, digital logic gates and 13.56 MHz rectifier to generate and transfer multi bit digital codes via a wireless communication (13.56 MHz). However, those key devices have never been integrated on the plastic foils using printing method yet because the electrical fluctuation of fully printed TFTs and diodes on plastic foils could not be controlled to show the function of desired devices. In this work, fully gravure printing process in printing 13.56 MHz operated 32 bit RFID tags on plastic foils has been demonstrated for the first time to prove all printed RFID tags on plastic foils can wirelessly generate and transfer 32 bit digital codes using the radio frequency of 13.56 MHz. This result proved that the electrical fluctuations of printed TFTs and diodes on plastic foils should be controlled in the range of maximum 20% to properly operate 32 bit RFID tags.
This article presents clean core criticality calculations and control rod worth calculations for TRIGA (Training, Research, Isotope production-General Atomics) Mark II research reactor benchmark cores using Winfrith Improved Multi-group Scheme-D/4 (WIMS-D/4) and Program for Reactor In-core Analysis using Diffusion Equation (PRIDE) codes. Cores 133 and 134 were analyzed in 2-D (r, ${\theta}$) and 3-D (r, ${\theta}$, z), using WIMS-D/4 and PRIDE codes. Moreover, the influence of cross-section data was also studied using various libraries based on Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF/B-VI.8 and VII.0), Joint Evaluated Fission and Fusion File (JEFF-3.1), Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (JENDL-3.2), and Joint Evaluated File (JEF-2.2) nuclear data. The simulation results showed that the multiplication factor calculated for all these data libraries is within 1% of the experimental results. The reactivity worth of the control rods of core 134 was also calculated with different homogenization approaches. A comparison was made with experimental and reported Monte Carlo results, and it was found that, using proper homogenization of absorber regions and surrounding fuel regions, the results obtained with PRIDE code are significantly improved.

In this paper, a high-level process control language is developed to construct multi-loop controllers for large scale process control systems. Function locks are defined which are basic functions necessary to configure a multi-loop controller. Each block is presented to the function code which is a line of ASCII codes and has the characteristics to be simple and to be easily understood. A control algorithm for a process is attained by means of the arrangement of function codes with order. In order to be used to various environments of target hardwares, a transformation program is prepared that transfers a control program configured by function codes to a C-language program. The proposed control language is easy and simple to use, possible to expend, and able to apply to various control systems. Simulation results are included to show the availability for the usage of the proposed control language in real world.

In this paper, we proposed a TxID(Transmitter Identification) system using ZCD (Zero Correlation Duration) code as interference-cancelled spread codes for single frequency network of ATSC terrestrial DTV broadcasting. ZCD codes are simply implemented and have ZCD characteristics. Then, Proposal system can fundamentally solve interference problems caused by ICI(Inter Code Interference) and MPI(Multi-Path Interference) which happens in TxID system using spread coding method. Also, those can cancel truncated error which happens at watermarking for TxID since those can remove its period. In this paper, we identified the availability of TxID system applying interference-cancelled ZCD codes by analyzing DER (Detection Error Rate) which is simulated in various interference environments such as AWGN, ICI, and MPI.

Most multimedia source coders exhibit unequal bit error sensitivity. Efficient transmission system design should therefore incorporate the use of matching unequal error protection (UEP). In this paper, we present and evaluate a flexible space-time coding system with unequal error protection. Multiple transmit and receive antennas and bit-interleaved coded modulation techniques are used combined with rate compatible punctured convolutional codes. A near optimum iterative receiver is employed with a multiple-in multiple-out inverse mapper and a MAP decoder as component decoders. We illustrate how the UEP system gain can be achieved either as a power or bandwidth gain compared to the equal error protection system (EEP) for the identical source and equal overall quality for both the UEP and EEP systems. An example with two/three transmit and two receive antennas using BPSK modulation is given for the block fading channel.
