To improve the throughput of Device-to-Device (D2D) communication, we focus on the scenario where D2D pair can reuse multi-channel of cellular communication. However, as sharing same channel with cellular communication can cause interference between D2D communication and cellular communication, a proper interference management is needed. In this paper, we propose interference-based channel allocation to select the channels to be used by D2D communication and a solution from game theory perspective to optimize the D2D communication throughput under multi-channel as well as guarantee the interference from it to cellular network. The simulation results verify the stability of the proposed method.
Improvements in wireless sensor network (WSN) technology have resulted in a large number of applications. WSNs have been mainly used for monitoring applications, but they are also applicable to target tracking, health care, and monitoring with multimedia data. Nodes are generally deployed in environments where the exhausted batteries of sensor nodes are difficult to charge or replace. The primary goal of communication protocols in WSNs is to maximize energy efficiency in order to prolong network lifetime. In this paper, various medium access control (MAC) protocols for synchronous/asynchronous and single/multi-channel WSNs are investigated. Single-channel MAC protocols are categorized into synchronous and asynchronous approaches, and the advantages and disadvantages of each protocol are presented. The different features required in multi-channel WSNs compared to single-channel WSNs are also investigated, and surveys on multi-channel MAC protocols proposed for WSNs are provided. Then, existing broadcast schemes in such MAC protocols and efficient multi-hop broadcast protocols proposed for WSNs are provided. The limitations and challenges in many communication protocols according to this survey are pointed out, which will help future researches on the design of communication protocols for WSNs.

In this paper, we propose a scheme for MIMO beamforming for the backscatter communication using a multi-tag to improve the efficiency of energy harvesting and the BER of received signals. We obtain a normal channel information through a communication between the H-AP and multi-tag. The H-AP sets parameters for the transmission scenario of the spatial channel model (SCM) using the obtained channel information and generates a SCM channel information. Then, the H-AP transmits signals that have optimal transmission power to increase the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) to each of tags. Tags perform a backscatter communication with signals. The receiver performs a time switching technique of energy harvesting using backscatter signals from the multi-tag. Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed scheme, and the harvesting efficiency and BER at the receiver is greatly improved.

Multi-hop relaying communications have great potentials in improving transmission performance by deploying relay nodes. The benefit is critically dependent on the accuracy of the channel state information (CSI) of all the transmitting links. However, the CSI has to be estimated. In this paper, we investigate the channel estimation problem in one-way multi-hop MIMO amplify-and-forward (AF) relay system, where both the two-hop and three-hop communication link exist. Traditional point-to-point MIMO channel estimation methods will result in error propagation in estimating relay links, and separately tackling the channel estimation issue of each link will lose the gain as part of channel matrices involved in multiple communication links. In order to exploit all the available gains, we develop a novel channel estimation model by structuring different communication links using the PARAFAC and PARATUCK2 tensor analysis. Furthermore, a two-stage fitting algorithm is derived to estimate all the channel matrices involved in the communication process. In particular, essential uniqueness is further discussed. Simulation results demonstrate the advantage and effectiveness of the proposed channel estimator.

Recent research work has unearthed that multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks offer considerable capacity gains over single-radio wireless mesh networks. In this paper, we present a new routing metric for multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. The goal of the metric is to choose multiple link/node disjoint paths between a source and destination node that, when used concomitantly, impart high end-to-end throughput. The proposed metric selects high fidelity paths that will produce elevated throughput with maximum fault tolerance.

To solve the shortage of radio spectrum and utilize spectrum resource more efficiently, cognitive radio technologies are proposed, and many studies on cognitive radio have been conducted. Multi-hop routing is one of the important technologies to enable the nodes to transmit data further with lower power in ad-hoc cognitive radio networks. In a multi-channel cognitive radio networks, each channel should be allocated to minimize interference to primary users. In the multi-hop routing, channel allocation should consider the inter-channel interference to maximize network throughput. In this paper, we propose multi-channel scheduling scheme which minimizes inter-channel interferences and avoids collision with primary users for the multi-hop multi-channel cognitive radio networks. The proposed scheduling is designed to determine both of routing path and channel selection. The performance of proposed channel allocation scheme is evaluated by the computer simulation in the aspect of capacity and collision rate.

To mitigate the performance degradation caused by performance anomaly, a number of channel assignment algorithms have been proposed for multi-rate wireless mesh networks. However, network conditions have not been fully considered for routing process in these algorithms. In this paper, a joint scheme called Multi-rate Dijkstra's Shortest path - Rate Separated (MDSRS) is proposed, combining routing metrics and channel assignment algorithm. In MDSRS, the routing metric are determined through the synthesized deliberations of link costs and rate matches; then the rate separated channel assignment is operated based on the determined routing metric. In this way, the competitions between high and low rate links are avoided, and performance anomaly problem is settled, and the network capacity is efficiently improved. Theoretical analysis and NS-3 simulation results indicate that, the proposed MDSRS can significantly improve the network throughput, and decrease the average end-to-end delay as well as packet loss probability. Performance improvements could be achieved even in the heavy load network conditions.

In centralized control sensor network, tree-based multi-channel communication overcomes the recurrent channel switching and makes possible to transfer data simultaneously from different sources. In our paper, we propose a greedy algorithm named as NIT (Non-Intersecting Tree) that the trees can avoid inter-tree interference. We also propose channel switching technique by which trees can avoid link failure or area blocking due to external interference locally without rerunningthe algorithm and without interrupting the whole network. At first we applied our algorithm for a random topology and then we evaluate the performance of the network using NS-2 simulator. The results show that with the increasing of channel the throughputand delivery ratio are increased significantly. We got better performance than a using a recent proposed Tree-based Multi-Channel Protocol (TMCP).

Cognitive radio communication techniques have been attracting attention to efficiently use the scarce spectrum as the wireless communication service increases. In cognitive radio communication, efforts to minimize interference to the primary user are important technical factors. In a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network, multi-hop transmission requires path and channel selection considering channel interference as well as collision with primary users. In the multi-channel environment, cognitive radio network has different capacities depending on the inter-channel interference and collision with the main users. In this paper, we propose a multi-hop transmission scheme that minimizes inter-channel interference and reduce collision with primary users.
