Image registration is an essential process for image fusion, change detection and time series analysis using multi-sensor images. For this purpose, we need to detect accurately the difference of scale and rotation between the multi-sensor images with difference spatial resolution. In this paper, we propose a new feature matching method using variable circular template for image registration between multi-resolution images. The proposed method creates a circular template at the center of a feature point in a coarse scale image and also a variable circular template in a fine scale image, respectively. After changing the scale of the variable circular template, we rotate the variable circular template by each predefined angle and compute the mutual information between the two circular templates and then find the scale, the angle of rotation and the center location of the variable circular template, respectively, in fine scale image when the mutual information between the two circular templates is maximum. The proposed method was tested using Kompsat-2, Kompsat-3 and Kompsat-3A images with different spatial resolution. The experimental results showed that the error of scale factor, the error of rotation angle and the localization error of the control point were less than 0.004, $0.3^{\circ}$ and one pixel, respectively.
We investigated the crystal and the optical properties of GaN-based blue light emitting diodes (LEDs) which were simultaneously grown on c-plane (0001) and semipolar (11-22) GaN templates by using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The X-ray rocking curves (XRCs) full width at half maximums (FWHMs) of c-plane (0001) and semipolar (11-22) GaN templates were 275 and 889 arcsec, respectively. In addition, high-resolution X-ray ω-2θ scan showed that satellite peaks of semipolar (11-22) InGaN quantum-wells (QWs) was weaker and broader than that of c-plane (0001) InGaN QWs, indicating that the interface quality of c-plane (0001) QWs was superior to that of semipolar (11-22) QWs. Photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence (EL) results showed that the emission intensity and the FWHMs of polar c-plane (0001) LED were much higher and narrower than those of semipolar (11-22) LED, respectively. From these results, we believed that relative poor crystal quality of semipolar (11-22) GaN template might give rise to the poor interfacial quality of QWs, resulting in lower output power than conventional c-plane (0001) GaN-based LEDs.

This paper proposes a face tracking algorithm for a viewpoint adaptive multi-view synthesis system. The original scene captured by a depth camera contains a texture image and 8 bit gray-scale depth map. From this original image, multi-view images that correspond to the viewer's position can be synthesized using geometrical transformations, such as rotation and translation. The proposed face tracking technique gives a motion parallax cue by different viewpoints and view angles. In the proposed algorithm, the viewer's dominant face, which is established initially from a camera, can be tracked using the statistical characteristics of face colors and deformable templates. As a result, a motion parallax cue can be provided by detecting the viewer's dominant face area and tracking it, even under a heterogeneous background, and synthesized sequences can be displayed successfully.
The core-shell InGaN/GaN Multi Quantum Well-Nanowires (MQW-NWs) that were selectively grown on oxide templates with perfectly circular hole patterns were highly crystalline and were shaped as high-aspect-ratio pyramids with semi-polar facets, indicating hexagonal symmetry. The formation of the InGaN active layer was characterized at its various locations for two types of the substrates, one containing defect-free MQW-NWs with GQDs and the other containing MQW-NWs with defects by using HRTEM. The TEM of the defect-free NW showed a typical diode behavior, much larger than that of the NW with defects, resulting in stronger EL from the former device, which holds promise for the realization of high-performance nonpolar core-shell InGaN/GaN MQW-NW substrates. These results suggest that well-defined nonpolar InGaN/GaN MQW-NWs can be utilized for the realization of high-performance LEDs.

In this paper, a supervised algorithm for the evaluation of geophysical sites using a multi-level cellular neural network (ML-CNN) is introduced, developed, and applied to real data. ML-CNN is a stochastic image processing technique based on template optimization using neighborhood relationships of the pixels. The separation/enhancement and border detection performance of the proposed method is evaluated by various interesting real applications. A genetic algorithm is used in the optimization of CNN templates. The first application is concerned with the separation of potential field data of the Dumluca chromite region, which is one of the rich reserves of Turkey; in this context, the classical approach to the gravity anomaly separation method is one of the main problems in geophysics. The other application is the border detection of archeological ruins of the Hittite Empire in Turkey. The Hittite civilization sites located at the Sivas-Altinyayla region of Turkey are among the most important archeological sites in history, one reason among others being that written documentation was first produced by this civilization.

Hand posture recognition has played a very important role in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer Vision (CV) for many years. The challenge arises mainly due to self-occlusions caused by the limited view of the camera. In this paper, a robust hand posture recognition approach based on 3D point cloud from two RGB-D sensors (Kinect) is proposed to make maximum use of 3D information from depth map. Through noise reduction and registering two point sets obtained satisfactory from two views as we designed, a multi-viewed hand posture point cloud with most 3D information can be acquired. Moreover, we utilize the accurate reconstruction and classify each point cloud by directly matching the normalized point set with the templates of different classes from dataset, which can reduce the training time and calculation. Experimental results based on posture dataset captured by Kinect sensors (from digit 1 to 10) demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this study, a large bus is tested for measuring the steering response based on the slarom test and step steer test. A full car model by using ADAMS/Car is established for computer simulation. For bus modeling, user defined templates are made and used in the simulation. Simulation results according to the slarom and step steer test are compared to the physical experiments, in which several sensors are installed to measure vehicle responses. The results obtained from the comparison show a good agreement with regard to the vehicle velocity and steering angle.
As the importance of three-dimensiona (3D) nano patterns and structures has recently emerged, interest in the study of 3D structures of block copolymers has increased. However, most existing studies on block copolymer 3D patterns on substrates are limited to simple 3D structures such as a multi-layered forms. In this study, we propose an experimental method for realizing free-standing 3D block copolymer patterns on substrates using an e-beam lithographic template and film transfer method. The block copolymer 3D structure formed in wide hole templates are similar to simple multi-layered structures; however, as the width of the hole template become narrower, more complex block copolymer 3D structures are formed in which the upper and lower layer structures are interconnected. Furthermore, we introduce a method to fabricate novel block copolymer structures in which the 2D planar structures are connected to 3D complex structures. Proposed 3D block copolymer fabrication method provides a framework for generation of unconventional 3D structures of block copolymer, which can be useful for next generation 3D devices.

In this talk, we represent a novel approach to investigating intra-nanorod surface plasmon coupling with control over block compositions. The multi-component rod-like nanostructures, which consist of optically active components (Au and Ag) and optically less active component (for example, Ni) in UV-vis-NIR spectral window, showed interesting optical response depending on each block length and the total length of the structure. By controlling the composition and relative lengths of the blocks that comprise these structures, we can tailor the overall optical properties. Depending on the relative fraction of Au and Ag blocks, the intensity of the transverse modes varied without noticeable peak shifts. However, the strong intraparticle surface plasmon coupling resulted in the collective appearance of longitudinal LSP modes, including higher-order modes. The experimental observations were confirmed by theoretical calculation, using a discrete dipole approximation method. In addition, we will briefly discuss how single nanorod solar cells can be synthesized by using by using electrochemical deposition and AAO hard templates.
In this paper, we present a secure biometric hashing scheme for face recognition by random fusion of global and local features. The Fourier-Mellin transform and Radon transform are adopted respectively to form specialized representation of global and local features, due to their invariance to geometric operations. The final biometric hash is securely generated by random weighting sum of both feature sets. A fourfold key is involved in our algorithm to ensure the security and privacy of biometric templates. The proposed biometric hash can be revocable and replaced by using a new key. Moreover, the attacker cannot obtain any information about the original biometric template without knowing the secret key. The experimental results confirm that our scheme has a satisfactory accuracy performance in terms of EER.
