Nitration of tyrosine and tryptophan residues is common in cells under nitrative stress. However, physiological consequences of protein nitration are not well characterized on a molecular level due to limited availability of the 3D structures of nitrated proteins. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation can be an alternative tool to probe the structural perturbations induced by nitration. In this study we developed molecular mechanics parameters for 3-nitrotyrosine (NIY) and 6-nitrotryptophan (NIW) that are compatible with the AMBER-99 force field. Partial atomic charges were derived by using a multi-conformational restrained electrostatic potential (RESP) methodology that included the geometry optimized structures of both $\alpha$- and $\beta$-conformers of a capped tripeptide ACE-NIY-NME or ACE-NIW-NME. Force constants for bonds and angles were adopted from the generalized AMBER force field. Torsional force constants for the proper dihedral C-C-N-O and improper dihedral C-O-N-O of the nitro group in NIY were determined by fitting the torsional energy profiles obtained from quantum mechanical (QM) geometry optimization with those from molecular mechanical (MM) energy minimization. Force field parameters obtained for NIY were transferable to NIW so that they reproduced the QM torsional energy profiles of ACE-NIW-NME accurately. Moreover, the QM optimized structures of the tripeptides containing NIY and NIW were almost identical to the corresponding structures obtained from MM energy minimization, attesting the validity of the current parameter set. Molecular dynamics simulations of thioredoxin nitrated at the single tyrosine and tryptophan yielded well-behaved trajectories suggesting that the parameters are suitable for molecular dynamics simulations of a nitrated protein.

We developed a 2-D imaging system to detect ultra weak biophoton by using a high sensitive fast CCD camera. We installed an illumination apparatus to generate delayed luminescence from plant leaves. Shutters at the illumination system and detector were synchronized to each other. The lens system of the CCD camera was newly designed to accommodate the specific requirements to enhance the collection efficiency for biophoton. Based on the lens simulation, commercial lenses were chose for the lens system. All the equipment was installed in a multi-purpose dark box and the delayed luminescence of Euonymus japonica was successfully acquired.
H.264/AVC offers a better encoding efficiency than conventional video standards by adopting many new encoding techniques. However, the advanced coding techniques also add to the overall complexity for H.264/AVC encoder. Accordingly, it is necessary to perform optimization to alleviate the level of complexity for the video encoder. The amount of computation for motion estimation is of particular importance. In this paper, we propose a diamond web-grid search algorithm combined with efficient stationary block skip method which employs full diamond and dodecagon search patterns, and the variable thresholds are used for performing an effective skip of stationary blocks. The experimental results indicate that the proposed technique reduces the computations of the unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search algorithm by up to 12% while maintaining a similar PSNR performance.

The complexity and expensiveness of water resources projects have made optimum operation and design by computer-based techniques of increasing interest in recent years. Water resources problems in real world need many decisions under numerous constraints. In addition there are nonlinearities in the state and return function. This mathematical and technical troublesome must be overcome so that the optimum operation polices are determined. Then traditional dynamic optimization method encountered two major-cruxes: variable discretization and appearance of constraints. Even several recent methods which based on the Differential Dynamic Programming(DDP) have some difficulties in handling of constraints. This paper has presented New DDP which is applicable to multi-reservoir control. It is intended that the method suggested here is superior to abailable alternatives. This belief is supported by analysis and experiments(New DDT does not suffer course of dimensionality and requires no discretization and is able to handle easily all constraints nonlinearity).

The proper position of a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) is essential for the quality of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) dose delivery. Task Group (TG) 142 provides a quality assurance (QA) procedure for MLC position. Our study investigated the QA validation of the mechanical leaf gap measurement and the maintenance procedure. Two $VitalBeam^{TM}$ systems were evaluated to validate the acceptance of an MLC position. The dosimetric leaf gaps (DLGs) were measured for 6 MV, 6 MVFFF, 10 MV, and 15 MV photon beams. A solid water phantom was irradiated using $10{\times}10cm^2$ field size at source-to-surface distance (SSD) of 90 cm and depth of 10 cm. The portal dose image prediction (PDIP) calculation was implemented on a treatment planning system (TPS) called $Eclipse^{TM}$. A total of 20 VMAT plans were used to confirm the accuracy of dose distribution measured by an electronic portal imaging device (EPID) and those predicted by VMAT plans. The measured leaf gaps were 0.30 mm and 0.35 mm for VitalBeam 1 and 2, respectively. The DLG values decreased by an average of 6.9% and 5.9% after mechanical MLC adjustment. Although the passing rates increased slightly, by 1.5% (relative) and 1.2% (absolute) in arc 1, the average passing rates were still within the good dose delivery level (>95%). Our study shows the existence of a mechanical leaf gap error caused by a degenerated MLC motor. This can be recovered by reinitialization of MLC position on the machine control panel. Consequently, the QA procedure should be performed regularly to protect the MLC system.

In this paper, we implement single cycle and multi cycle adders. We can compare area and time by using the implemented adders. The size of adders is 64, 128, 256-bits. The architecture of hybrid adders is that the carry-out of small adder groups can be interconnected by utilizing n carry propagate unit. The size of small adder groups is selected in three formats - 4, 8, 16-bits. These adders were implemented with Verilog HDL with top-down methodology, and they were verified by behavioral model. The verified models were synthesized with a Samsung 0,35(um), 3.3(V) CMOS standard cell library while a using Synopsys Design Compiler. All adders were synthesized with group or ungroup. The optimized adder for a Crypto-processor included Smart Card IC is that a 64-bit RCA based on 16-bit CLA. All small adder groups in this optimized adder were synthesized with group. This adder can operate at a clock speed of 198 MHz and has about 961 gates. All adders can execute operations in this won case conditions of 2.7 V, 85 $^{\circ}C$.
Abstract In this work, we analyze the Levy mutation operations based on the Levy probability distribution in the evolutionary programming via the mean square displacement and the distinctness. The Levy probability distribution is characterized by an infinite second moment and has been widely studied in conjunction with the fractals. The Levy mutation operators not only generate small varied offspring, but are more likely to generate large varied offspring than the conventional mutation operators. Based on this fact, we prove mathematically, via the mean square displacement and the distinctness, that the Levy mutation operations can explore and exploit a search space more effectively. As a result, one can get better performance with the Levy mutation than the conventional Gaussian mutation for the multi-valued functional optimization problems.

In response to anthropogenic global warming due to a buildup greenhouse gas, the effect of the air temperature on water temperature has been noticed. Therefore, effects have been made to build an air/water temperature relationship at three study regions using the data collected by the Ministry of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF). The air/water relationship varies with time-scale and weekly time-scale was chosen for the study. The data were fitted to the S-shaped non-linear relationship, and the parameters for the S-curve were derived using a single-criteria multi-parameter optimization scheme. Separate regression curves were fitted to consider seasonal hysteresis at the Masan site. The study results support the S-shaped non-linear relationship is the best fit for the air/water relationship at the Korean coastal zone. This study will contribute to determine the future policy regarding water quality and ecosystem for the decision-driving organization.

The windshield wiper consists of 4 parts: a blade, an arm, a linkage and a motor. The wiper blade makes contact with the windshield and is designed to be operated normally at an angle of 30~50 degrees to the front glass. If the contact pressure between the wiper blade and windshield surface is too high, noise and wear of the rubber will result. On the other hand, if the contact pressure is too low, the performance will do badly, since foreign substances such as dust and stains will not be removed well. The pressure and friction of the wiper blade has a great influence on its effectiveness in cleaning the front window. This is due to the contact of the rubber with the window. This paper presents the dynamic analysis method to estimate the performance of the flat type blade of the wiper system. The blade has a nonlinear characteristic since the rubber is an incompressible hyper-elastic and visco-elastic material. Thus, Structural dynamic analysis using a complex contact model for the blade is performed to find the characteristics of the blade. The flexible multi-body dynamic model is verified by the comparison between test and analysis result. Also, the optimization using the central composite design table is performed.

A design study was conducted for a new concept aircraft(Canard Rotor/Wing: CRW) that has the capability of dual mode flight, a rotorcraft and a fixed wing mode. The CRW can show a vertical take off/landing and a high speed/efficiency cruise performance simultaneously. It is not surprising to develop a new sizing code for this class of aircraft because conventional sizing codes developed solely for either the rotary wing or the fixed wing aircraft are not adequate to design a dual mode aircraft operated both by the rotary wing through tip jet effux and the fixed wing lift. Thus, a new design code was developed based on the conventional sizing code by adding some features including rotor performance, duct flow, and engine flow analysis, hence could eventually predict the performance of reaction driven rotor, the flight performance and the flight characteristics. The various design parameters were investigated to find their influences on the flight performance then, a small UAV(Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle) of 1500 lbs class was optimally designed to have minimum weight using the developed sizing code.
