  • Continuous multi-interval prediction (CMIP) is used to continuously predict the trend of a data stream based on various intervals simultaneously. The continuous integrated hierarchical temporal memory (CIHTM) network performs well in CMIP. However, it is not suitable for CMIP in real-time mode, especially when the number of prediction intervals is increased. In this paper, we propose a real-time integrated hierarchical temporal memory (RIHTM) network by introducing a new type of node, which is called a Zeta1FirstSpecializedQueueNode (ZFSQNode), for the real-time continuous multi-interval prediction (RCMIP) of data streams. The ZFSQNode is constructed by using a specialized circular queue (sQUEUE) together with the modules of original hierarchical temporal memory (HTM) nodes. By using a simple structure and the easy operation characteristics of the sQUEUE, entire prediction operations are integrated in the ZFSQNode. In particular, we employed only one ZFSQNode in each level of the RIHTM network during the prediction stage to generate different intervals of prediction results. The RIHTM network efficiently reduces the response time. Our performance evaluation showed that the RIHTM was satisfied to continuously predict the trend of data streams with multi-intervals in the real-time mode.

  • Consider a multitype queue where queued customers arc served in their order of arrival at a rate which depends on the customer type. Here we calculate the sharp asymptotics of the probability the total number of customers in the queue reaches a high level before emptying. The natural state space to describe this queue is a tree whose branches increase in length as the number of customers in the queue grows. Consequently it is difficult to prove a large deviation principle. Moreover, since service rates depend on the customer type the stationary distribution is not of product form so there is no simple expression for the stationary distribution. Instead, we use a change of measure technique which increases the arrival rate of customers and decreases the departure rate thus making large deviations common.

  • All the visiting customers makes a queue and then can be served at an unoccupied server, in the queueing system of multi-server. The customer and server, however, have a conflictive feeling of satisfaction at all times. To solve the problem, in this paper, it is proposed that new design method of server number to maximize the satisfaction level of customer and server by the hzzy concept which is applied to the queuing system.

  • Recently, there are many studies, that considering green wireless cellular networks, have taken the energy consumption of the base station (BS) into consideration. In this work, we first introduce an energy consumption model of multi-mode sharing BS powered by multiple energy sources including renewable energy, local storage and power grid. Then communication load requests of the BS are transformed to energy demand queues, and battery energy level and worst-case delay constraints are considered into the virtual queue to ensure the network QoS when our objective is to minimize the long term electricity cost of BSs. Lyapunov optimization method is applied to work out the optimization objective without knowing the future information of the communication load, real-time electricity market price and renewable energy availability. Finally, linear programming is used, and the corresponding energy efficient scheduling policy is obtained. The performance analysis of our proposed online algorithm based on real-world traces demonstrates that it can greatly reduce one day's electricity cost of individual BS.

  • The performance of a shared memory multiprocessor system is very sensitive to process scheduling. w can enhance the performance of a whole system as well as of an individual process by taking the multiprocessor characteristics into account in the design of the process scheduler. In this paper, we proposed a general purpose scheduler for a shared memory multiprocessor, called the Two-Level Multi-Scan (TLMS) process scheduler, that considers the processor affinity loosely and decreases the interference among multiple processors greatly. The TLMS scheduler is composed of a local scheduler at each processor and a semi-global scheduler that balances the load among processors. In particular, the semi-global scheduler tries to minimize priority inversion, which is an important factor of the system performance. The TLMS scheduler also tries to reduce the number of resources to be shared and improves the processor utilization. to meet these requirements, th semi-global scheduler interacts with the operation of the local scheduler when a need arises, thus the name is loose processor-affinity. We also show that the proposed scheduling technique can be extended for other types of resources making it a general purpose resource management queue.

  • Retrial queueing models have been studied extensively in the literature. These have many practical applications, especially in service sectors. However, retrial queueing models have their own limitations. Typically, analyzing such models involve level-dependent quasi-birth-and-death processes, and hence some form of a truncation or an approximate method or simulation approach is needed to study in steady-state. Secondly, in general, the customers are not served on a first-come-first-served basis. The latter is the case when a new arrival may find a free server while prior arrivals are waiting in the retrial orbit due to the servers being busy during their arrivals. In this paper, we take a different approach to the study of multi-server retrial queues in which the signals are generated in such a way to provide a reasonably fair treatment to all the customers seeking service. Further, this approach makes the study to be level-independent quasi-birth-and-death process. This approach is different from any considered in the literature. Using matrix-analytic methods we analyze MAP/M/c-type retrial queueing models along with Poisson signals in steady-state. Illustrative numerical examples including a comparison with previously published retrial queues are presented and they show marked improvements in providing a quality of service to the customers.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of container size with multi-stage and multi-item on average inventory and customer service level in Kanban systems. We use the different distributions of demand and interarrival time for each item to show that we had better to change the container size depending on different type of item for this simulation study. The small lot size can be used for container size of a single item if there is no setup time. The container size should be identical with average order size as setup time increases. The fill rate increases if the container size is large with multi-item. However, it is difficult to establish the effective container size because the effects of the container size on the order queue time are not clear. It is suitable to use the average order size as the container size for each item if the variance of demand and interarrival time of each item is relatively small. It is effective to sue the average container size if the variance of them is relatively large.

  • This paper proposes a mathematical model to analyze call-and packet-level performance of the TD-CDMA/TDD system which could serve a flexible radio resource management against multi-type heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffic conditions. On call-level analysis, the mathematical model based on queueing theory performs multi-dimensional operations using random vectors or matrices to consider multiple types of traffic and also deal with asymmetrical up- and down-direction transmissions separately. Employing the mathematical model, we obtain rail blocking probability for each type of traffic and also the optimum switching-point with the smallest call flocking probability. And on packet-level analysis, employing a non-prioritized queueing scheme between circuit and packet calls, we solve 2-dimensional random vector problem composed of the queue length for packets and the number of circuit calls being served. Finally, packet-level performance is analyzed in terms of the packet loss probability and the buffer size required under mixed-traffic conditions of multiple types of circuit and packet calls.
