Development of a Synthetic Multi-Agent System;The KMITL Cadence 2003 Robotic Soccer Simulation Team, Intelligent and AI Based Control

  • This paper describes the development of a synthetic multi-agent called KMITL Cadence 2003. KMITL Cadence 2003 is a robotic soccer simulation team consisting of eleven autonomous software agents. Each agent operates in a physical soccer simulation model called Robocup Soccer Server which provides fully distributed and real-time multi-agent system environment. All teammates have to cooperate to achieve the common goal of winning the game. The simulation models many aspects of the football field such as noise in ball movements, noisy sensors, unreliable communication channel between teammates and actuators, limited physical abilities and restricted communication. This paper addresses the algorithm to develop the soccer agents to perform basic actions which are scoring, passing ball and blocking the opponents effectively. The result of this development is satisfactory because the successful scoring attempts is increased from 11.1% to 33.3%, successful passing ball attempts is increased from 22.08% to 63.64%, and also, successful intercepting attempts is increased from 88% to 97.73%.

Digital Library System by Advanced Distributed Agent Platform

  • I propose a personalized digital library system (PDLS) based on an advanced distributed agent platform. The new platform is developed by improving the DECAF (Distributed Environment-Centered Agent Framework) which is one of the conventional distributed agent development toolkits. Also, a mobile ORB (Object Request Broker), Voyager, and a new multi agent negotiation algorithm are adopted to develop the advanced platform. The new platform is for mobile multi agents as well as the distributed environment, whereas the DECAF is for the distributed and non-mobile environment. From the results of the simulation the searched time of PDLS is lower, as the numbers of servers and agents are increased. And the user satisfaction is four times greater than the conventional client-server model. Therefore, the new platform has some optimality and higher performance in the distributed mobile environment.

  • Negotiation is a process of reaching an agreement on the terms of a transaction. such as price, quantity, for two or more parties. Negotiation tries to maximize the benefits for all parties concerned. instead of using human-based negotiation. the e-commerce environment provides such an environment as adopting automated negotiation. Thus. choosing agent technology is appropriate for an automatic electronic negotiation platform. since autonomous software agents strive for the best deal on behalf of the human participants. Negotiation agents need a clear-cut definition of negotiation models or strategies. In reality, most bargaining systems embody nearly one negotiation model. In this article. we present a mobile agent negotiation system with reusable negotiation strategies that allows agents to dynamically embody a user's favorite negotiation strategy which can be preinstalled as a component in the system. We develop a prototype system, which is fully implemented in compliance with FIPA specifications, and then. describe the benefits of using the system.

  • This paper presents a multi-agent system for intelligent recommendation of travel plans to users. The goal of the system is to provide alternative and preferable travel plans to users when the availability of tickets is low such as in vacations, holidays, weekends, or peak seasons. The multiple agents in the system search for available alternatives for a target travel in collaboration with other agents and recommend best alternatives by analyzing them using a multi-criteria decision-making model. A prototype online travel support system was constructed and a simulation experiment was performed for evaluation and comparison with different travel planning strategies.

  • This paper analyzes the capabilities of multi-agent system (MAS) technology for the optimal multi-microgrids (MMGs) operation in grid-connected mode. In this system, communication among microgrids (MGs) is realized by developing a modified contract net protocol (MCNP) based on agent communication language (ACL) messages. Moreover, a two-stage mathematical model is proposed based on mixed integer linear programming (MILP) for local optimization in each MG, and global optimization in energy management system.

  • It is an interesting area in the field of artificial intelligence to and an analytic model of cooperative structure for multi-agent system accomplishing a given task. Usually it is difficult to design controllers for multi-agent systems without a comprehensive knowledge about the system. One of the way to overcome this limitation is to implement an evolutionary approach to design the controllers. This paper introduces the use of a genetic algorithm to discover a fuzzy logic controller with rules that govern emergent co-operative behavior: A modified genetic algorithm was applied to automating the discovery of a fuzzy logic controller jot multi-agents playing a pursuit game. Simulation results indicate that, given the complexity of the problem, an evolutionary approach to and the fuzzy logic controller seems to be promising.

  • Recently, research on the multi-agent system is developed actively in the various fields, especially on the control of complex system and optimization. In this study, we develop a multi-agent system for NPC simulation in game environment. The purpose of the development is to support quick and precise decision by inferencing the situation of the dynamic discrete domain, and to support an optimization process of the agent system. Our approach employed Petri-net as a basic agent model to simplify structure of the system, and used fuzzy inference engine to support decision making in various situation. Our experimentation describes situation of the virtual battlefield between the NPCs, which are divided two groups, such as fuzzy rule based agent and automata based agent. We calculate the percentage of winning and survival rate from the several simulations, and the result describes that the fuzzy rule based agent showed better performance than the automata based agent.

A Study on the Physical Characteristics of Concrete using Multi-Component Blended Binder According to Warter Reduction Efficiency of Warter Reduction Agent (감수제의 감수 효율에 따른 다성분계 결합재를 사용한 콘크리트의 물리적 특성에 관한 기초적 연구)

  • In this study, multi-component blended concrete mix with fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag according to 3 level of type of warter reduction agent (type of 0%, 8% and 16%) and 3 level of water-binder ratio (40%, 45% and 50%) was prepared for evaluation of effect of physical characteristics of concrete using multi-component blended binder according to warter reduction efficiency of warter reduction agent. In addition, concrete mix was carried out repetition test of three times in order to secure the reliability. As a result, compressive strength according to type of warter reduction agent was found that difference of strength was about 20% occurred, warter reduction efficiency of warter reduction agent was showed that a great influence on qualities of concrete. Therefore, reflected the effect of warter reduction efficiency of warter reduction agent, prediction model equations of compressive strength for multi-component blended concrete was proposed, it was found that more than 90% of the high correlation.

  • A dynamic supply chain that is composed of many different companies with different rent roles and interests allows free joining and secession. Buyers place orders simultaneously and manufacturers should compete each other for the orders. The purpose of our paper is how to find the optimal formation of supply chain ill a global viewpoint while allowing each member company to pursue his local goal The dynamic nature of supply chain formation causes the variation of cost depending on how many orders a manufacturer would accept. We propose a multi-agent based negotiation protocol that efficiently leads to the formation of optimal supply chain without giving up maximization of the individual profit in multi-agent environment of the make-to-order industry. The goal of the negotiation is to form a supply chain to minimize the overall sum of manufacturers' manufacturing cost, and earliness cost and tardiness cost based on SET model. We compare the negotiation protocol with Branch & Bound method. Finally, the validity and performance of buyer's negotiation has been tested experimentally.

  • In these days it is rapidly increasing that multi-user, multi-layered commercial software developments for companies or public institutions. Security services are necessary for most of systems and the access control service is the essential of security services. Current access control methods that are used as access control policies are classified as Discretionary Access Control Mandatory Access Control and Role Based Access Control. However there are some inefficiencies when those methods are applied to current multi-user, multi-layered systems. Therefore it is required that a new access control method that takes complex system resources into account from the side of policy. In this paper extending previous Role Based of 'Behavior' and a basic model of the method. And we simply implement the method on the mobile agent based workflow management system that is a representative example of multi-user. multi-layered softwares and shows implementation results to tap possibilities of real-world application.
