  • This study is final focused on developing fruit harvesting robot can distinguish fruit type and status accurately. Multi-joint robot is able to discriminate tree shape and select mature fruit by image processing. The multi-joint robot consists of (a) rotating base, (b)turning first joint-arm, (c)rotating and turning second joint-arm, (d)rotating and turning third joint-arm, (e)rotating and turning last joint and (f)picker hand. The operational ranges of the robot are: horizontal 860~2,220mm, vertical 1,440~2,260mm, 270 degrees’rotation angle, 90 or 270 degrees’turning angle. The robot weighs 330kg. The multi-joint robot was designed in high accuracy and efficiency by getting as close as the movements of human arms and waist.

  • Color plays a fundamental and important role in various areas, it has become important to choose colors which fits the purpose and also harmonious. The goal of this study is to reduce the difficulties of choosing the color and get the colors with high satisfaction when users want to choose multiple colors. To do this, we extracted and analysed a large number of colors in color database. And We designed an interface applied to high preference color combination rule. We also evaluated the usability and user satisfaction of the interface. The results showed that the functionality of the developed interface is more useful and is more satisfied than that of the conventional interface.

  • This research proposes a Pareto-based multi-objective optimization approach to class-based storage warehouse design, considering a two-block warehouse that operates under the class-based storage policy in a low-level, picker-to-part and narrow aisle warehousing system. A mathematical model is formulated to determine the number of aisles, the length of aisle and the partial length of each pick aisle to allocate to each product class that minimizes the travel distance and maximizes the usable storage space. A solution approach based on multiple objective particle swarm optimization is proposed to find the Pareto front of the problems. Numerical examples are given to show how to apply the proposed algorithm. The results from the examples show that the proposed algorithm can provide design alternatives to conflicting warehouse design decisions.

  • Recently, as the importance of warehouses has increased, much efforts are being made to improve the picking process in order to cope with a small amount of high frequency and fast delivery. This study proposes an algorithm to assign orders to pickers in the situation where Single Order Picking policy is used. This algorithm utilizes five attributes related to picking such as picking processing time, elapsed time after receipt of order, inspection/packing workstation situation, picker error, customer importance. A measure of urgency is introduced so that the units of measure for each attribute are the same. The higher the urgency, the higher the allocation priority. In the proposed algorithm, the allocation policy can be flexibly adjusted according to the operational goal of the picking system by changing the weight of each attribute. Simulation experiments were performed on a hypothetical small logistics warehouse. The results showed excellent performance in terms of system throughput and flow time.
