This study was undertaken to assess the effects of demethylchlortetracycline on bone growth of mandibular symphyseal region in rats. Demethylchlortetracycline at 30mg/kg body weight, respectively, were daily administered by mouth to the sewen female rats from 10th day of pregnancy to 13th day. Thirty six new-born rats from these experimental animals were used for histological examination at 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 days. All these new-born rats were killed by an overdose of ether. Mandibular bodies were removed and fixed in $10\%$ neutral formalin,. Carney and aceton. Specimens were embedded, sectioned and stained with H-E, Van Gieson, PAS and prepared for alkaline phosphatase. The results were as follows; 1. Until erupting of incisors, hyaline cartilage was located in relatively large symphyseal space, but bone trabeculae of ossifying area at incisal side were arranged irregularly in experimental group. 2. During this period, PAS reaction was moderately positive, but alkaline phosphatase reaction was slightly positive. 3. By erupting or incisors, symphyseal space appeared narrower like control group, but alkaline phosphatase reaction tended to slow down. 4. By erupting of molars, symphyseal space appeared muck narrower, and cartilane plate was reduced and aealed off like control group. Alkaline phosphatase reaction tended to slow down severely.
The cemented sand and gravel (CSG) method is a construction technique that adds cement and water to rock-like materials, such as rivered gravel or excavation muck which can be obtained easily at areas adjacent to dam sites. This study was performed to evaluate the compaction and compressive strength properties of stress-strain, elastic modulus and fracture mode CSG materials reinforced polypropylene fiber. Polypropylene fiber widely used for concrete reinforcement is randomly distributed into cemented sand. The two types of polypropylene fiber (monofillament and fibrillated fiber) were used and fiber fraction ratio was 0, 0.2 %, 0.4 %, 0.6 % and 0.8 % by the weight of total dry soil. The effect of fiber fraction ratio and fiber shape on compaction and compressive strength were investigated. The optimum moisture contents (OMC) of CSG material increased as fiber fraction increased and the dry density of CSG material decreased as fiber fraction. Also, the maximum increase in compressive strength was obtained at 0.4 % content of monofillament and fibrillated fiber. CSG material behaviour was controlled not only by fiber fraction but also fiber distribution, fiber shape and fiber type.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of human epidermal stratum corneum as protein model soils for detergency test. The stratum corneum was collected by scraping of the skin and purified with solvent. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Purified stratum corneum contained $92.38\%$ of crude protein. 2. In the amino acid compositions, contents of glycine, glutamic acid and serine were high and methionine and cystine were low. They were similar to fibrous $\alpha$-keratin consisted of stratum corneum. Whereas the content of polar amino acids was decreased, that of nonpolar amino acids was increased after enzyme hydrolysis. 3. The hydrolysis of stratum corneum with enzyme increased muck at initial reaction time and levelled off in 4$\~$6 hours. The hydrolysis with enzyme was improved effectively at its optimum temperature and pH. 4. The hydrolysis of stratum corneum with enzyme increased by the addition of surfactants. The order of compatibility with enzyme was in the order of Triton X-100>AOS>LAS.

A naval ship equipped with a degaussing system may undergo a breakdown in degaussing coils at sea. In the case, underwater magnetic field around the ship abruptly grows up and it can make the ship be easily exposed to fatal hazards such as magnetic mines or torpedoes. This paper proposes an efficient and practical re-degaussing technique for a ship where a part of degaussing coils is out of order. To achieve this, an analytical design sensitivity formula and approximated degaussing coil field are exploited, and then new optimum currents of available coils are reassessed. To validate the proposed method, a muck-up ship equipped with 14 degaussing coils is tested in scale-down magnetic treatment facilities under three faulty coil conditions.
The cemented sand and gravel (CSG) method is a construction technique that adds cement and water to rock-like materials, such as rivered gravel or excavation muck which that can be obtained easily at areas adjacent to dam sites. This study was performed to evaluate the unconfined compressive strength properties and freezing and thawing resistance of CSG materials with unit cement content. The three types of CSG-80, CSG-100 and CSG-120 with cement content were designed to evaluate the optimum water content, dry density, strength, stress-strain, micro structure and durability factor. As the results, the optimum water content ratio with cement content showed almost similar tendency, and the unconfined compressive strength and dry density increased as cement content increases. The strength ratio of 7 days for 28 days were in the range of 55~61 % and the strain ratio in stress-strain curve were in the range of 0.8~1.6 % nearby maximum strength in 28 days. It is expected that this study will contribute to increasing application of CSG method as well as to increasing the utilizing of CSG materials as a environmentally friendly CSG method.
