Reliability Prediction using MIL-HDBK-217F has some restrictions due to its one modeling basis. One of the restrictions is caused by selecting one operating environment of a system, which is chosen regardless of its detailed conditions, e.g., external impact and vibration. Especially, an equipment, which is installed on a mobile vehicle though its movement is quasi-static, is controversial to designate its environment as ground mobile($G_M$), rather than ground fixed($G_F$). In this paper, failure rates were compared, which are computed using several moving time rates to total operating time. RiAC-HDBK-217Plus was used as the basic calculation model. In addition, $G_F$ conditioned failure rate was evaluated by comparing with that under $G_M$ environment but fixed state.

This paper gives new conceptual descriptions of drag reduction mechanism owing to rotating wheel and moving ground condition when dealing with automotive aerodynamics. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), flow simulation of three dimensional automobile configuration made by Vehicle Modeling Function (VMF) is performed and the influence of wheel arch, wheels, rotating wheel & moving ground condition to the automotive aerodynamic performance is analyzed. Finally, it is shown that rotating wheel & moving ground condition decreases automotive aerodynamic drag owing to the reduction of the induced drag led by the decrease of COANDA flow intensity of the rear trunk flow.
This paper presents the numerical simulation results on the moving type electrodynamic suspension (EDS) simulator. Superconducting EDS system is generated by the interaction between the magnetic field made by the induced the eddy current in the ground conductor and the moving magnetic field made by onboard superconducting magnet. The levitation force of EDS system, which is proportional to the strength of the moving magnetic field, becomes saturated according to the increase of the velocity Especially, the levitation force is influenced by the structure of HTS magnet and ground conductor. The 3-D numerical analysis with FEM was used to find the distribution of the magnetic field, the optimal coil structure, and the calculation of the levitation force.
GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indication) radar system can detect ground moving targets and can provide position and velocity information of each target. However, the azimuth position of target has some offset because of the hardware errors such as mechanical tolerances. In this case, an error occurs no matter how accurate the monopulse ratio is. In this paper, target position correction method in azimuth direction has been proposed. The received sum and difference signals of monopulse GMTI system are post-processed to correct the target azimuth angle error. This method is simple and adaptive for nonhomogeneous area because it can be implemented by using only software without any hardware modification or addition.
This study was conducted to provide a counterplan for preventing so celled “plastic house syndrome” revealed among farmers spending much time in the plastic houses. For this, working environment inside a plastic house was observed. Then, experiments were carried out mostly in a climatic chamber with three kinds of working posture on uneven($D_1-F_1$) or even($D_2-F_2$) ground surface. Tested work loads with three kinds of working posture were : moving in a sitting posture with attaching breast to legs and waving arms ($A_1$), moving in a bending posture with waving arms ($B_1$), and moving a 6kg weighting luggage in a standing posture ($C_1$) Physiological responses in the workers to three different work loads were observed in a climatic chamber, with or without using some instruments, to evaluate work efficiencies. The results obtained are summerized as follows. 1. $C_1$ was the hardest work and $B_1$ was harder than $A_1$ on the even ground. 2. Worker's physiological fatigue and physical loads remarkably decreased when using the instruments such as a chair and a cart with some rollers on the even ground. 3. Working with pushing a cart($F_1$) was the hardest work, and standing($D_1$) was harder than walking($E_1$) on the uneven ground. 4. Worker's physiological fatigues and physical loads remarkably decreased on the even ground. 5. Similar results were obtained when the same experiment was carried out in a plastic house.
The underlying ground state of a railway plays a significant role in maintaining the integrity of the overlying concrete slab and ultimately supporting the train load. While effective nondestructive tests have been used to evaluate the rail track system, they can only be performed during non-operating time due to the stress wave generated by active sources. In this study, finite element numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the feasibility of detecting unfavorable substructure conditions by using a moving train load. First, a train load module is developed by converting the train load into time-variant equivalent forces. The moving forces based on the shape functions are applied at the nodes. A parametric study that takes into account the bonding state and the train class is then performed. All the synthetic signals obtained from numerical simulations are analyzed at the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and at the time-frequency domain using a Short-Time Fourier transform (STFT). The presence of a void condition amplifies the acceleration amplitude and the vibration response. This study confirms the feasibility of using a moving train load to systematically evaluate a rail track system.
A Computational study was carried out in order to investigate the moving wall effect of a circular cylinder at a Reynolds number of $2.0{\times}10^4$. The viscous-incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and Spalart-Almaras turbulent model of the commercial CFD code were adopted for this numerical analysis. The moving wall was set parallel with the freestream, and moving speed was equal to the freestream velocity. The gap ratio is defined as the distance ratio between the circular cylinder diameter and the height from the moving wall. The results show that there is vortex shedding over the critical gap ratio and aerodynamic loads including amplitude and the Strouhal number change according to the gap ratio.

Unsteady aerodynamic analysis of an air-pressure-levitated high-speed ground vehicle moving over the nonplanar ground surface are performed using the boundary-element method. The potential flow solution is included in a time-stepping loop and the wake is captured as part of the solution. When the vehicle moving inside the channel, the lift coefficient and the pitching moment coefficient of the vehicle are increased further because the air trapped by the channel increases the ground effect. In other words, the nonplanar ground surface such as the channel decreases further the longitudinal stability of the vehicle. On the other hand, there is little difference between the ground and the channel in the lateral stability of the vehicle because the lift increment due to the nonplanar ground surface such as the channel takes place on both sides of the wing with the same rate of increase.
If radio interference occurs or there is no navigation device, radio navigation of high-speed moving object becomes impossible. Nevertheless, if there are multiple ground stations and precise range measurement between the high-speed moving object and the ground station can be secured, it is possible to estimate the position of moving object. This paper proposes a position estimation method using high-precision TDOA measurement generated using TLM signal. In the proposed method, a common error of moving object is removed using the TDOA measurements. The measurements is generated based on TLM signal including SOQPSK PN symbol capable of precise timing synchronization. Therefore, since precise timing synchronization of the system has been performed, the timing error between ground stations has a very small value. This improved the position estimation performance by increasing the accuracy of the measured values. The proposed method is verified through software-based simulation, and the performance of estimated position satisfies the target performance.
This paper reviews the improved moving frame acoustic holography (MFAH) method and its application. Moving frame acoustic holography was originally proposed to increase the aperture size and the spatial resolution of hologram by using a moving line array of microphones. The hologram of scanned plane can be obtained by assuming the sound field to be product of spatial and temporal information. Although conventional MFAH was only applied to sinusoidal signals, it allows us to visualize the noise generated by moving noise sources by employing a vertical line array of microphones affixed to the ground. However, the sound field generated by moving sources becomes different from that of stationary ones due to the movement of the sources. Firstly, this paper introduces the effect of moving noise sources on the obtained hologram by MFAH and the applicability of MFAH to the visualization of moving sources. Secondly, this paper also reviews improved MFAH that can visualize a coherent narrow band noise and a pass-by noise. The practical applicability of the improved MFAH was demonstrated by visualizing tire noise during a pass-by test.
