In this paper, an automatic mobile robot system for a intelligent path planning using the detection scheme of the spatial coordinates based on stereo camera is proposed. In the proposed system, face area of a moving person is detected from a left image among the stereo image pairs by using the YCbCr color model and its center coordinates are computed by using the centroid method and then using these data, the stereo camera embedded on the mobile robot can be controlled for tracking the moving target in real-time. Moreover, using the disparity map obtained from the left and right images captured by the tracking-controlled stereo camera system and the perspective transformation between a 3-D scene and an image plane, depth information can be detected. Finally, based-on the analysis of these calculated coordinates, a mobile robot system is derived as a intelligent path planning and a estimation. From some experiments on robot driving with 240 frames of the stereo images, it is analyzed that error ratio between the calculated and measured values of the distance between the mobile robot and the objects, and relative distance between the other objects is found to be very low value of $2.19\%$ and $1.52\%$ on average, respectably.

This paper describes the implementation of autonomy in the motion of a small size human robot. Traditional modeling of environment and concept of moving planning have limitations to adapt the change of environment and to implement in real-time operation. To overcome these limitations, we designed a behavior-based control algorithm and applied to robot soccer. Based on experiment, we verify that the behavior-based control algorithm works well in the change of environment.
This paper presents new feedback actuators to achieve an accurate position control of a flexible gnatry robot arm. the translational motion in the plane is generated by two d.c.motors and controlled by emplying elecor-rheological(ER) clutch acutators. The generated motion can be continuously controlled by controlling the intensity of lectric field imposed to the ER fluid domain which tunes the transmitted torque of the ER clutch. n the other hand, during control action of the translational motion a flexible arm attached to the moving mass produces undesirable oscillatins due to its inherent flexibility. The oscillations are actively suppressed by applying feedback voltages to piezoceramic acutators bonded on the surface of the flexible arm. The control electric fields to be applied to the ER clutch and the control voltage for the piezoceramic actuator are determined via the loop shaping esign procedures(LSDP) in the H.inf. control technique. Comsequently, an accuate positiion control at the end-point of the flexible am is achieved during planar motion.

Most autonomous mobile robots view only things in front of then, and as a result, they may collide with objects moving from the side or behind. To overcome this problem, an active omni-directional range sensor system has been built that can obtain an omni-directional depth map through the use of a laser conic plane and a conic mirror. In the navigation of the mobile robot, the proposed sensor system produces a laser conic plane by rotating the laser point source at high speed: this creates a two-dimensional depth map, in real time, once an image is captured. The results obtained from experiment show that the proposed sensor system is very efficient, and can be utilized for navigation of mobile robot in an unknown environment.
In this paper, we deal with a novel path planning algorithm to find collision-free path for a moving robot to find an appropriate path from initial position to goal position. The robot should make progress by avoiding obstacles located at unknown position. Such problem is called the path planning. We propose so called the subgoal generation algorithm to find an effective collision-free path. The generation and selection of the subgoal are the key point of this algorithm. Several subgoals, if necessary, are generated by analyzing the map information. The subgoal is the candidate for the final path to be pass through. Then selection algorithm is executed to choose appropriate subgoal to construct a correct path. Deep and through explanations are given for the proposed algorithm. Simulation example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Supervised machine learning has become popular in discovering context descriptions from sensor data. However, collecting a large amount of labeled training data in order to guarantee good performance requires a great deal of expense and time. For this reason, semi-supervised learning has recently been developed due to its superior performance despite using only a small number of labeled data. In the existing semi-supervised learning algorithms, unlabeled data are used to build a graph Laplacian in order to represent an intrinsic data geometry. In this paper, we represent the unlabeled data as the spatial-temporal dataset by considering smoothly moving objects over time and space. The developed algorithm is evaluated for position estimation of a smartphone-based robot. In comparison with other state-of-art semi-supervised learning, our algorithm performs more accurate location estimates.

We present a robust localization algorithm using particle filter for mobile robots in a dynamic environment. It is difficult to describe moving obstacles like people or other robots on the map and the environment is changed after mapping. A mobile robot cannot estimate its pose robustly with this incomplete map because sensor observations are corrupted by un-modeled obstacles. The proposed algorithms provide robustness in such a dynamic environment by suppressing the effect of corrupted sensor observations with a selective update or a sampling from non-corrupted window. A selective update method makes some particles keep track of the robot, not affected by the corrupted observation. In a sampling from non-corrupted window method, particles are always sampled from several particle sets which use only non-corrupted observation. The robustness of proposed algorithm is validated with experiments and simulations.

This paper describes a low-cost omnidirectional camera system designed for the intruder detection capability of a security robot. Moving targets on sequential images are detected first by an adaptive background subtraction technique, and the targets are identified as intruders if they fail to enter a password within a preset time. A warning message is then sent to the owner's mobile phone. The owner can check scene pictures posted by the system on the web. The system developed worked well in experiments including a situation when the indoor lighting was suddenly changed.
This paper presents a path planning problem for multi-robot system in the environment with dynamic obstacles. In order to guide the robots move along a collision-free path efficiently and reach the goal position quickly, a navigation method based on fuzzy logic controllers has been developed by using proximity sensors. There are two kinds of fuzzy controllers developed in this work, one is used for obstacle avoidance and the other is used for orientation to the target. Both static and dynamic obstacles are included in the environment and the dynamic obstacles are defined with no type of restriction of direction and velocity. Here, the environment is unknown for all the robots and the robots should detect the surrounding information only by the sensors installed on their bodies. The simulation results show that the proposed method has a positive effectiveness for the path planning problem.

Generally, most of machining processes are done according to the dimention of the draft made by CAD. However, there are many cases that a sample is given without the draft because of the simplicity of the shape in the machining of 2D objects. To cut the same shape as the given sample, this paper proposes the method to extract the geometric information about a large sample using the robot vision and to draw the demensional draft for the machining. Because the resolution of one frame in the vision system is too low, it is necessary to set up a camera according to the desired resolution and to capture the image moving along the contour. And the overall outline can be compounded of the sequentially captured images. In the experiment, we compared the product after the cutting with the original sample and found that the size of two objects was coincided within the allowed error bound.
