  • We propose an intelligent ribbon road network for automatic vehicle simulation, and a real-time algorithm for large-scale, realistic traffic simulation based on artificial energy functions. Our method reconstructs a road network automatically from both GIS (Geographic Information System) real-world data and synthetic models. Such automatic road network helps us to easily simulate almost every possible scenario such as intersections, ramps, etc. In order to simulate agents' movement, we design car-environment interaction energy and car-car interaction energy functions. Car agents move along the road network according to the proposed energy functions while avoiding collisions with other car agents.

  • With the recent movement toward sustainable development, many efforts have been made to reduce environmental loads in various domains of industry. In particular, a great deal of research and technology development has been underway on approaches to reducing industrial waste and the emission of greenhouse gases. For this reason, a quantitative analysis of the reduction in CO2 emission that could be achieved by replacing limestone material with cementitious waste powder was performed in this study. Through the analysis, it was found that CO2 emissions were reduced by up to 50 percent compared with the scenario in which OPC was used, which suggests that it is possible to reduce global CO2 emissions by approximately 5percent, or by 446.4 Tg of the 965 Tg of CO2 emissions generated by the cement industry, in the total global CO2 emissions of 19300Tg.

  • In this paper, we propose a system to convert a video motion into cartoon-style animation automatically. Our system is a new video cartoon stylization method that can apply natural transformation with satisfying physical constraints. It applies physically reasonable transformation to a selected video object with considering physical information such as momentum, movement direction and force. We construct several deformation scenarios which correspond with traditional animation techniques, then a scenario can be easily selected to apply the effects. Finally, this system gene-rates a dynamic cartoon-style video by timing control and a cartoon rendering technique.

  • PURPOSES: The aim of this study is to analyze and compare the operational effectiveness and safety of three different types of roundabout found in the literatures using a VISSIM and SSAM program. METHODS : The three types roundabout tested are the 2-lane roundabout (2R), the Turbo roundabout (TR), and the Flower roundabout (FR). For each scenario, three roundabout types and traffic conditions such as traffic volume and movement ratio were applied to VISSIM in order to compute the average delays. In addition the total conflict was calculated through SSAM by using trajectory data from VISSIM. RESULTS: From the analysis results, the average delay in TR and FR type was higher than the 2R. Regardless of the roundabout types, the average delay was reduced as the right-turn vehicles increased. The total conflict in TR was fewer than 2R for all traffic conditions. CONCLUSIONS : The results of this study can be used in the planning and design process of roundabout deployment. The data also provides some numerical justifications in transition from at-grade intersection to roundabout.

  • The present study aims to assess the growth of open access journals at a global level. The concept of Open Access (OA) publishing is being well received among academic circles and as a result we can see more and more scholarly content is being made these days available in open access format. The present study is simply an attempt to assess the trend and growth of open access journals during the last decade, viz. for the period 2003-2012, for which data has been retrieved from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), which as of date hosts more than 9700 journals from 120 countries across the world covering major languages of the world. But keeping in view the period of our study the data has been retrieved as per our applicability, which as a result confines our study to 8453 journals only. The directory covers 18 main subject areas having 76 sub-disciplines, each having on average 118.53 journals. During the entire decade the number of countries which entered into OA publishing rose from 49 to 120 with a growth of 144%, and if this growth rate continues to be the same for the next five years, viz. by 2018, the world will turn into 100% open access. At the continental level Europe leads the tally by publishing a maximum of 3140 OA journals contributed by 43 countries across Europe, which again is the highest number from any continent.

  • Home security has become the prime concern for everyone in present scenario. In this work an attempt has been made to develop a home security system which is accessible, affordable and yet effective. The proposed system is based on 'Remote Embedded Control System' (RECS) which works both on the web and gsm platform for authentication and monitoring. This system is therefore cost effective as it relies on existing network infrastructure. As PCA is most popular and efficient algorithm for face recognition, it has been usedin this work. Next to it an interface has been developed for communication purpose in the embedded security system through the ZigBee module. Based on this embedded system, automated control of door movement has been implemented through electromagnetic door lock technology. This helps the users to monitor the real-time activities through web services/SMS. The web service consists of either web browser command or e-mail provision. The system establishes the communication between the system and authenticated user. The e-mail received by the system from the authorized person will monitor and control the real-time operation and door lock. The entire control system is reinforced using ARM1176JZF-S microcontroller and tested for actual use in the home environment. The result shows the experimental verification of the proposed system.

  • In developing games, realism is considered as an important factor to increase immersion. To do this, the paper developed 'Jungle Master' game applying the conventional energy model to movement of monsters in RPG. The main scenario of the game is that animals attack each other in order to survive the competition in jungle. While chasing monster : fleeing monster is 1:1 in the conventional energy model, it is extended as n:1 in order to increase fun. As the results, this paper showed that the energy model can be effectively applied to the real game and monsters can be implemented so that they can move in natural.

  • An optimal path generation method considering the safety of UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) is proposed and demonstrated through examples. Among various functions of UGV, real-time obstacle avoidance is a key issue to realize realistic scenario in FCS(Future Combat Systems). A two-dimensional narrow corridor environment is considered as a test field. For each step of UGV movement, two objectives are considered: One is to minimize the distance to the target and the other to maximize the distance to the nearest point of an obstacle. A weighted objective function is used in the optimization problem. Equality and inequality constraints are taken to secure the UGV's dynamics and safety. The weighting factors are controlled by a fuzzy controller which is constructed by a fuzzy rule set and membership functions. Simulations are performed for two cases. First the weighting factors are considered as constant values to understand the characteristics of the corresponding solutions and then as variables that are adjusted by the fuzzy controller. The results are satisfactory for realistic situations considered. The proposed optimal path generation with the fuzzy control is expected to be well applicable to real environment.

  • Passive sonar in submarine can detect the target in long range and can attack using it. There are many noises which can be received at passive sonar of submarine. When noise received in the sonar it make diverse interference pattern depend on the ocean ambient and movement scenario. Interference pattern can be explained by theory of waveguide invariant. In this paper, analyze the interference pattern according to the relative motions of surface ship and submarine. And analyze the occurrence reason of 2 kinds of interference patterns those are usually display on the submarine console. The results show that if relative speed of submarine and target increase then gradient of interference pattern will increase. And closest point approach of submarine and target decrease then gradient of interference pattern will increase. Bathtube pattern usually appear when target pass though close to submarine and Pinetree pattern appear target pass though above of submarine.

  • The covid-19 pandemic scenario caused the most extensive economic shocks the world has experienced in decades. Maintaining financial performance and economic stability is essential during the pandemic period. In these conditions, where movement is severely restricted, media consumption is considered to be increasing. The social media platform is one of the media online used by the public as a source of information and also expressing their sentiment, including individual investors in the capital market as social media users. Twitter is one of the social media microblogging platforms used by individual investors to share their opinion and get information. This study aims to determine whether microblogging sentiment investors can predict the capital market during pandemics. To analyze microblogging sentiment investors, we classified sentiment using the phyton text mining algorithm and Naïve Bayesian text classification into level positive, negative, and neutral from November 2019 to November 2020. This study was on 68 listed companies on the Indonesia stock exchange. A Vector Autoregression and Impulse Response is applied to capture short and long-term impacts along with a causal relationship. We found that microblogging sentiment investor has a significant impact on stock returns and volatility and vice-versa. Also, the response due to shocks is convergent, and microblogging investors in Indonesia are categorized as a "news-watcher" investor.
