In this paper, the semi active mount featuring Magneto rheological fluid(MR Fluid) is proposed. MR fluid is suspension of micro sized magnetizable particles in a fluid medium, and its apparent viscosity can be varied by the applied strength of magnetic field. When the controllable MR fluid is applied to mechanical devices, the devices provide simple, rapid response interfaces between electronic controls and mechanical systems. The MR fluid is applied in the conventional fluid mount for improving its performance of the mount's isolation effect. A appropriate size of the MR mount is designed and manufactured on the basis of Bingham model of MR fluid. In addition, the field dependent damping forces of MR mount are evaluated with respect to the input frequency variation.
This paper investigates the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system for vibration isolation table. The hybrid mount system consists of an air spring as a passive device and a PZT stack actuator as an active device in series. The feasibility of the PZT stack actuator as an active actuator was examined through the simple experiments. After that, a series of numerical simulations were carried out to evaluate the control performance of the proposed hybrid mount system. The equations of motion of the table with a set of hybrid mount systems consisting of four devices are derived. The air spring is considered as a 1 spring and 1 dashpot elements, and PID control algorithm is adopted to estimate the control force. The results of the numerical simulations presents that the proposed hybrid mount system could be the promising control system for vibration isolation table.
This paper presents a hybrid rubber mount with magnet to isolate effectively the vibration in vehicle, forklift, and so on. The hybrid mount does not have any controller of the magnetic force. Dynamic stiffness of the mount is reduced by only magnetic suction according to the applied magnetic field and damping coefficient increased. Performance of conventional rubber mount with using electromagnet has been investigated by MTS Tester. The governing equation of the hybrid mount was derived and verified by comparison with experimental and theoretical results. The equation can be used practically and usefully in the design of the mount and analysis of the mounting system. The hybrid mount provides excellent performance in vibration isolation and its structure is very simpler than active with controller and a semi-active mount with a functional fluid. Furthermore, production cost of the mount using permanent magnets is very lower than that of the active mount with electromagnets. Therefore, commercial potential of the mount is very high.
This gaper discusses a multidisciplinary design optimization of the engine mounting system to improve the ride quality of a vehicle and to remove the possibility of the resonance between the powertrain system and vehicle systems. The driveline model attempts to support engine mount development by providing sufficient detail for design modification assessment in a modeling environment. Design variables used in this study are the locations, the angles and the stiffness of an engine mount system. The goal of the optimization is both decoupling the roll mode ova powertrain and minimizing the vibration transmitted to the vehicle including the powertrain, simultaneously. By applying forced vibration analysis for vehicle systems and mode decouple analysis for the engine mount system, it is shown that improved optimization result is obtained.
In this research, the finite element model is formulated taking into consideration of the effects of the fluid flow in a pipe. The characteristic of vibration is presented using mass, damping and stiffness matrix in the finite element equation of this pipe system. The displacement distribution of pipe system caused by fluid force is discussed. The method for optimizing the location of mount and the value of mount stiffness to reduce the vibration of pipe system is introduced.
This paper presents an active vibration control of a 1-DOF system using a hybrid mount which consists of elastic rubber and electromagnetic actuator. After identifying stiffness, damping properties of the elastic rubber and electromagnetic element, a mechanical model of the hybrid mount is established. The mount model is then incorporated into the 1-DOF system and the governing equation of motion is obtained in a state space. A sliding mode controller is designed in order to actively attenuate the vibration of the system control responses such as acceleration and transmitted force of the 1 -DOF system are presented in time domain.
This paper presents an active vibration control of a dynamic system using hybrid mount which consists of elastic rubber-piezostack actuator and elastic rubber-electromagnetic actuator, respectively. After identifying stiffness, damping properties of the elastic rubber, PZT actuator and electromagnetic element, a mathematical model of the hybrid mount is established. The mount model is then incorporated into the dynamic system and the governing equation of motion is obtained in a state space. A sliding mode controller is designed in order to actively attenuate the vibration of the system. Control responses such as acceleration and transmitted force of the dynamic system are experimentally evaluated and presented in time and frequency domains.

In this study, reduction of airborne and structure-borne noise of naval ship pump is presented. Since piping system arrangement such as valve location, flexible joint, pipe diameter and elbow location, discharge basin affect greatly on the noise measurement, care must be taken to minimize the unnecessary noise from the piping system. It is shown that structure-borne noise of the motor with single resilient mount system exceeds criterion. Therefore, it is concluded that double resilient mount system is inevitable. Two kinds of mount is studied for upper mount; spring and rubber type. Although both mounts show good performance at low frequency including rpm frequency, 63Hz, spring mount is found to be inadequate at high frequency, because spring coil acts as a path for SBN.
Underwater radiated noise is one of the vital factors in underwater weapon systems like submarine. A passive elastic mount is an effective reduction method for the vibration from a ship-board machinery transmitted to the hull which is radiated as noise outside the hull. A passive elastic mount shows the limitation on the vibration reduction and needs multi stage mounting system including double stage one to meet the required underwater radiated noise criteria. It is necessary for the multi stage mounting system to consider the large displacement in the underwater shock explosion. So it is difficult to apply the multi stage mounting system in submarine because of space limitation. Also recent navy sonar system are trying to have the capability to detect the ship-borne acoustic signals in the low frequency range. An alternative to the passive mount is an active mount with moving-coil type electromagnetic actuator based on a conventional rubber mount in the low frequency range. In the previous paper, 4 active mounts with moving-coil type electromagnetic actuator based on the rubber mount were installed on the hard floor of the facility, which means no consideration on the elastic foundation effect for the control of the active mounts was taken into account. In this study, an experimental performance analysis on the active mount was carried out using 4 active mounts installed on the cylindrical structure to investigate the elastic foundation effect.
