  • Recently, the application of the linear machine far industrial field is remarkable increased, especially for the gantry machine, machine tool system and CNC. In these application fields, high dynamics position control performance Is essentially required in both the steady and the transient state. This pacer presents simple but powerful position control loop based on traditional PID controller. The presented position control algorithm, named 'Unified PID Position Controller'has great features for the linear machine drives such as no over-shoot phenomena and simple gain tuning strategy. Through the experimental results with commercial linear motors, it is shown that the proposed algorithm has excellent dynamics suitable fur linear motions.

  • This Paper describes the design of an induction motor control using the TMS320C32 Digital Signal Processor and the ADMC201 motion coprocessor. Presented hardware architecture can be used for several industry applications with wide range of speed control, e.g. elevator and cranes application, servo motor, electrical vehicles. The main purpose of the paper is demonstration of the implementation and maximum utilization of the ADMC201 motion coprocessor in digital vector control system for AC drives.

  • PWM-VSI based ac-drives have high nonlinearity due to dead-time in the inverter and the voltage drop across the switching devices. In this paper, we introduced a new nonlinear model of PWM-VSl including parastic capacitor and also showed validity of the model by circuit simulations and experiments. Furthermore, we proposed an on-line identification algorithm for the uncertain model parameters.

  • This paper studies the voltage angle control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs). For voltage angle control, the optimum voltage angle trajectory according to the operating speed is researched while the voltage and current limit conditions are considered. Through research, two different optimum voltage angle trajectories that depend on the design of IPMSMs were found. The IPMSM drive based on a voltage angle control that follows such trajectory is proposed. Unlike the conventional voltage angle control method, which is applied only in the flux-weakening region, the proposed voltage angle control can be implemented in all operation ranges from low to high speed. The proposed method is verified by experiments using a DSC controller for 800 W IPMSM.

  • In this paper, we will show that the torque ripple in closed-loop drives of permanent magnet stepping motors is reduced as properly selected lead angle control method. We propose an instantaneous torque equation, which is the function of lead angle, to estimate the influence on torque ripple. We design a closed-loop lead angle control system based on the proposed instantaneous torque equation and measure the instantaneous torque in various excitation modes. It is shown that torque ripple is greatly reduced, as seen from the experimental results as well as from the computer simulation results. For example, torque ripple reduced from 78.25% to 46.82% in the case of 50 PPS single-phase excitation mode operation.

  • This paper studies the scope and text summary of international standards related to adjustable speed d.c. drive systems, especially IEC 61800-1 and IEC 61136-1. IEC 61800-1 applies to general purpose adjustable speed d.c. drive systems which include the power conversion, control equipment, and also a motor or motors. This standard applies to power drive systems connected to line voltages up to 1kV a.c., 50Hz or 60Hz. IEC 61136-1 provides alternative methods for specifying ratings for semiconductor power convertors for adjustable speed electric drive systems, particularly for d.c. motor drives.

  • The cold staring issue of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) is a chronic problem in the field of PMSM sensorless drives. A traditional starting method, called the I-F method, is widely adopted because of its simple structure. However, when using this method, the pre-defined magnitude and frequency of the starting current should be changed according to the condition of the load and machine inertia. In this paper, a smart and simple algorithm for the cold starting of PMSM is proposed. In the proposed method, an integrated control angle from the estimated electrical rotor speed is used for vector control such as the indirect vector control of the induction machine. Thus, very stable cold starting is performed regardless of the machine load condition or inertia changing.

  • In this paper, a new current control algorithm is proposed for four-switch three-phase brushless DC(BLU) motor drives, which are suitable for low cost applications. A current reference generation scheme is developed and Implemented to obtain high performance characteristics in the four-switch system, such as small torque ripple and fast dynamic speed/torque response. Moreover, the proposed scheme can successful1y eliminate the torque ripple during commutations, so that it can be expected that the four-switch system can be much more practically applied for the industrial application areas.

  • Many applications involving induction motors that are controlled using variable frequency drives require the ability to stop quickly. These applications include emergency stops, quick stopping of fans, centrifuges, presses, etc. The technique that is widely accepted in the industry for achieving quick stopping makes use of brake resistors in series with a power semiconductor switch. The switch-resistor combination (brake-unit) is applied across the dc bus. The fastest decelerating time achievable depends on the size of the resistors and the switch employed. In this paper, the authors propose a novel method of achieving quick stopping times without the use of any brake-unit. Experimental test results with and without this method on a large inertia motor-load combination show that the proposed stopping method is able to reduce the stopping time significantly compared to normal decelerated stop without the need for a braking unit.

  • The switched reluctance motor (SRM) has a simple motor construction with no rotor windings. It also has simple concentrated windings on the stator windings. Thus it is expected to be a lower cost machine to manufacture than other motors. This paper has computed an optimal parameters asking for SRM drives using by PC-SRD that was programmed by T. J. E. Miller/M. Mcgilp. According to advanced angle and dwell angle, the output, efficiency, currents and torque were computed. The experiments with 8/6 SRM have tested.
