  • A moving-coil-type linear oscillatory actuator is consisted of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular structure and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. The inductance of moving coil and the push/pull effect is obtained from the permeance model of LOA with the open magnetic circuit. The analytical method are verified using the 2D finite element method.

  • This paper presents a calculating method for inductance of the Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) for torque characteristics and driving by analytical model. The approaches for calculating inductance have taken vary from detailed finite element analysis(FEA) and Fitting method in magnetization curves using complex nonlinear magnetic circuit models. But those methods have not satisfactory approach for machine performance calculations, because of having a long time and remodeling for analyses, therefore thus an alternative approach is required. So it is suggested simply calculating method of the inductance based on designed data of machinery by analytical model in unaligned and aligned rotor. In order to prove the calculating, there are compare with analytical FEM, direct measurement, this method, and simulation. The compared result is shown to obtain good accuracy.

  • The errors in machining process by CNC machining center are due to many elements, such as the delay of the servo drivers, friction and the gain mismatch between x-axis and y-axis motors and so on. We made a counter circuit to measure the output of motor encoders for the motion error analysis of a CNC machining center, and have measured the errors experimentally when the CNC performs a circular interpolation. We have also used an iterative learning method to reduce the radius errors and stick motion errors generated by the CNC machining center performing a circular interpolation. The proposed learning scheme worked well and the circle obtained has smaller error.

  • This paper suggests the techniques in determining the values of the steady-state equivalent circuit parameters of a three-phase squirrel-cage induction machine using immune algorithm. The parameter estimation procedure is based on the steady state phase current versus slip and input power versus slip characteristics. The proposed estimation algorithm is of a nonlinear kind based on clonal selection in immune algorithm. The machine parameters are obtained as the solution of a minimization of least-squares cost function by immune algorithm. Simulation shows better results than the conventional approaches.

  • Hydraulic systems are widely used as a power transfer and/or power control system due to its flexibility, controllability, accuracy and high power density. Valve controlled and/or pump capacity controlled systems are normally adopted as a control device, but nowadays pump speed controlled systems are emerging as a new energy-efficient hydraulic control system. In this paper the pump speed controlled system for the cylinder position control of a counter balance circuit is investigated by simulation study and position control experiments were carried out. As a result, the possibility and efficiency of the pump speed controlled system were verified.

  • SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) has not been put into practical use since it has been developed in mid 19th centuries, but the switching element using semi-conductor was developed in 1950's which made possible to produce small size staffing motors. The research activities have been lively conducted regarding SRM since 1960's, nowadays, more research activities are being carried out focusing on developing small home appliances such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines. This thesis explains the study of controller design applied to SRM concept. This controller executes controller algorithms via $\mu$ - processor to increase stability and precise measurement, and VHDL (Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language) is designed to generate SRM driving signal.

  • In this paper, an algorithm of reconstructing the armature current of the battery car is presented by using MOSFET's on-voltage of the dc chopper and a corresponding circuit is developed with the low-cost analog multiplexer. For driving comfort, the armature current of the motor or the traction force should be properly controlled when the car changes the direction and is accelerated or decelerated and climbs up or down the hill. Therefore, an information of the current is needed for the traction control. The proposed reconstruction algorithm is experimentally verified.

  • The battery charger for high speed trail car is very important power source for the purpose of safety and system stability It provides control power of VVVF, CVCF, DC/DC converter and inverter for traction motor. This paper included power circuit of the ZVZCS type battery charger for high speed trail car and battery charging algorithm. Also the optimum parallel operation of 50kW battery charger for high speed trail car, and charring control method of Ni-Cd battery illustrates validity and effectiveness through the experiments.

  • The paper describes a implementation of space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) voltage source inverter using Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) for a induction motor control system. The implemented chip is included logic circuits for SVPWM, dead time compensation and speed detection using Quick Logic, QL16X24B. The maximum operating frequency and delay time can be set to 110MHz and 6 nsec. The designed FPGA for SVPWM can be incorporated with a digital signal processing to provide a simple and effective solution for high performance voltage source inverter drives. Simulation and Implementation results are shown to verify the usefulness of FPGA as a Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC) in power electronics applications
