Cogging torque has a negative impact on the operation of permanent magnet machines by increasing torque ripple, speed ripple, acoustic noise and vibration. In this paper Magnet Shifting Method has been used as a tool to reduce the cogging torque in inset Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPMSM). It has been shown that Magnet Shifting Method can effectively eliminate several lower-order harmonics of cogging torque. In order to implement the method, first the expression of cogging torque is studied based on the Fourier analysis. An analytical expression is then introduced based on Permanent Magnet Shifting to reduce cogging torque of LSPMS motors. The method is applied to some existing machine designs and their performances are obtained using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The effect of magnet shifting on pole mmf (magneto motive force) distribution in air gap is discussed. The side effects of magnet shifting on back-EMF, core losses and torque profile distortion are taken into account in this investigation. Finally the experimental results on two prototypes 24 slot 4 pole inset LSPMS motors have been used to validate the theoretical analysis.

The present study aims to examine the impact of real earnings management on the future value of the firm and its persistence. The study also tests suspect firm effects on the relationship between real earnings management and the future value of the firm. The sample of the present study consists of all listed non-financial firms from the year 2011 to 2018. Real earnings management has been measured in three alternative ways viz., abnormal operating cash flows, abnormal discretionary spending, and abnormal production cost. Tobin's Q is used as a measure of firm value. The interaction term of real earnings management and Tobin's Q is used to test firm value persistence. The results of the analysis disclose that out of three measures of real earnings management, abnormal reduction in discretionary spending only has a significant negative impact on the persistence of firm value. Moreover, the suspect firm analysis reveals that when the underlying motive of real earnings management is to meet zero earnings, both abnormal increases in operating cash flows and abnormal reduction in discretionary spending have a significant negative impact on firm value persistence.

The present research intends to examine the herding aspect during the COVID-19 outbreak. The study is conducted to achieve specific objectives, so the underlying sampling technique is purposive sampling. The considered data source is the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Daily stock prices of 528 listed companies in PSX have been taken from the official website of PSX from 1998 to 2021. The current study envisions investigating the herding aspects for pre-pandemic and the time covering the pandemic period. The study has also targeted ten sectors of PSX. The present study's motive is to investigate investors' herding prospects before and during the pandemic in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and its selected sectors. Daily closing stock prices of listed companies have been collected from the official website of PSX to calculate the stock returns. The Cross-Sectional Absolute Deviation (CSAD) has been used as a herding measure. Findings revealed that herding has not been observed in PSX during both time spans and even not during the bullish and bearish trends. However, robust sectoral evidence has been observed during the pandemic. It implies that investors in PSX tend to follow the crowd irrespective of making their own decisions to avoid further losses.

The increased risk in financial firms, due to Global Financial Crises and high international trade activities, has encouraged banks to use derivatives for both managing their financial risk and earning non-operating income simultaneously. The present study brings new evidence in the existing literature by determining the drivers behind financial derivative usage in Pakistani banks for 2011 till 2016. Moreover, the paper examines how risk plays a moderating role in determining the relationship between derivative usage and bank value. While assessing the determinants, a two-stage test has conducted, first, the logit regression was used to test the drivers behind the derivative usage in banks. Second, Tobit regression was run to analyze the factors leading to determine the extent of derivative usage. The findings demonstrate that Pakistani banks are using derivatives for both risk management and speculative motive as they are customers and users of derivatives at the same time. Empirical results, regarding moderating role of risk on the value implications of derivative usage, provide mixed findings as derivative usage gives value premium in case of non-systematic risk and foreign exchange risk. Whereas value discounts have been observed for cases where systematic risk is high and managers try to earn non-operating income from speculative activities.

In this paper, we investigates the benefits of using social media on intentions and implementation entrepreneurial. This study took place in a well-known vocational college in Bandung, Indonesia, from July 2020 to January 2021. The research method used was the explanatory survey. Research data obtained from 317 respondent. Factor analysis and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. According to this study, social media has three dimensions: ease of use, controllability, usability, and profit. Entrepreneurial intention is made up of two components: entrepreneurial motive and entrepreneurial effort. Furthermore, there are four components to entrepreneurship implementation: investment courage, technology tools, social media skills, and environmental support. Other findings of each dimension of social media proved to affect entrepreneurial intention positively. The four aspects of entrepreneurial execution were likewise positively influenced by the dimension of entrepreneurial intention. This research reveals that students make the most use of the technologies available on social media for business and interactively communicate with their customers. Therefore, social media plays a role in accelerating the growth of entrepreneurship among students. However, more research is needed to see if there is a continuous pattern in the findings of this study so that the findings can be generalized.
Purpose - Many studies show that dissatisfied customers are silent rather than expressing complaints directly to firms. Although silent voices are pervasive in service failure, they have received little attention from researchers. Silence implies a multidimensional nature, not just the opposite of voice. This study focuses on two types of silent students in higher education: acquiescent silence and defensive silence. This study also proposes cognitive trust and affective trust as variables affecting student silence. The objective of this study is to analyse the effects of trust types on student silence and exit intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To test the proposed model, this study conducted a survey with undergraduate students who selected silence in a dissatisfied relationship with a professor. Respondents were asked to respond to the questionnaire, recalling the dissatisfaction at that time. A total of 300 students was surveyed from whom 275 completed questionnaires was obtained. The structural equation model analysis was used for the hypothesis test. Results - First, cognitive trust was negatively related to acquiescent and defensive silence. Second, affective trust was negatively related to acquiescent and defensive silence. Third, cognitive trust was negatively exit intention, but affective trust didn't significantly reduce exit intention. Forth, acquiescent silence was positively related to exit intention, but defensive silence didn't have a significant positive impact on exit intention. Thus, a key result of this analysis was that acquiescent silence enhances exit intention. Conclusions - The findings of the study provide a better understanding of the types of silence, and the role of trust, thus furthering the implication of student reactions to dissatisfaction. In particular, this study is meaningful in that it confirms the value of student silence in the context of complaint management. Acquiescent silence should be more importantly managed because it has stronger negative motive than defensive silence. Acquiescent silence is reduced through various channels(mail, telephone, counseling) that can express complaints. Cognitive trust and affective trust are a essential factors in reducing silence. Also, in explaining exit intention, cognitive trust plays a more important role than affective trust.

The mobile social networking application Instagram is a well-known platform for sharing photos and videos. Since it is folksonomy-oriented, it provides the possibility for image indexing and knowledge representation through the assignment of hashtags to posted content. The purpose of this study is to analyze how Instagram users tag their pictures regarding different kinds of picture and hashtag categories. For such a content analysis, a distinction is made between Food, Pets, Selfies, Friends, Activity, Art, Fashion, Quotes (captioned photos), Landscape, and Architecture image categories as well as Content-relatedness (ofness, aboutness, and iconology), Emotiveness, Isness, Performativeness, Fakeness, "Insta"-Tags, and Sentences as hashtag categories. Altogether, 14,649 hashtags of 1,000 Instagram images were intellectually analyzed (100 pictures for each image category). Research questions are stated as follows: RQ1: Are there any differences in relative frequencies of hashtags in the picture categories? On average the number of hashtags per picture is 15. Lowest average values received the categories Selfie (average 10.9 tags per picture) and Friends (average 11.7 tags per picture); for highest, the categories Pet (average 18.6 tags), Fashion (average 17.6 tags), and Landscape (average 16.8 tags). RQ2: Given a picture category, what is the distribution of hashtag categories; and given a hashtag category, what is the distribution of picture categories? 60.20% of all hashtags were classified into the category Content-relatedness. Categories Emotiveness (about 4.38%) and Sentences (0.99%) were less often frequent. RQ3: Is there any association between image categories and hashtag categories? A statistically significant association between hashtag categories and image categories on Instagram exists, as a chi-square test of independence shows. This study enables a first broad overview on the tagging behavior of Instagram users and is not limited to a specific hashtag or picture motive, like previous studies.
Purpose - This study proposes a strategic model for the late mover to effectively penetrate an industry that is dominated by a leading company. Thus, this study presents strategic implications for several late movers in overcoming the advantages of the leading company. Research design, data, and methodology - This study begins with a literature review followed by the formation of a strategic model that consists of: Repositioning, Utilization of Competence, Strategic Leadership, and Innovation. Specifically, this research analyzes LG Electronics (LG) as an example and investigates how LG infiltrates and grows in the water purifier market, overcoming the advantages of the powerful leading company. Results - The major steps taken by LG are summarized into four. First, LG studied the market, which had been conventionally treated as a single market. To penetrate the market, LG founded a new, special market segment. Subsequently, LG further segmented the market, executing a marketing strategy for each segment. Second, the unbending will of top managers was a key factor that addressed the challenge persistently. Third, even though LG was the late mover in the water purifier market, it had several technology competences such as compressor, refrigeration cycles, and algorithms. LG had profound knowledge in technology and used it effectively. Fourth, LG created a premium market through three innovative and distinguished factors such as the stainless water tank, sterilization service, and luxury design. Conclusions - This research draws four key findings from the example of the late mover in the water purifier industry: the reestablishment of a strategic position based on environmental change is an effective strategy for the late mover; strategic leadership is an important motive to generate late mover performance; and the late mover can utilize its existing knowledge and resources to overcome the first mover, such as presenting new added value compared to existing products as an effective catch-up strategy. Consequentially, through the study of performance determinants and the market penetration strategy of the late mover, this research has significance in providing basic material for companies trying to penetrate the market.

This study examines spatial characteristics of residential distribution and occupational composition of Korean emmigrants who live in China, United States, and Japan. The data used are The Conditions of Korean Emmigrants published by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. Analysis method used this data are as follows: 1) to clarify the tendency and spatial distribution of Korean emmigrants in each nation. 2) to grasp the residential distribution of Korean emmigrants in China, United States, and Japan where many Koreans have lived. 3) to analyze the occupational composition and its spatial characteristics of Korean emmigrants. The main findindgs obtained are summarized as follows: Farmer, forester, stock farmer, and fishery occupy over 50% of the employees of Korean emmigrants in China; traders and other employees occupy about three-fourths of the employees of Korean emmigrants in United States; and other employees occupy about 80% of the employees of Korean emmigrants in Japan. Therefore, the ratio of occupational composition of Korean emmigrants was influenced by emmigration motive, level of economic development of emmigration nation, restrictive condition for ethnic minority, and social status before emmigration etc. Specialized occupational composition in region where many Korean emmigrants in each nation lived was that the highest specialized occupation in region including primary city in population scale is trader; the highest specialized occupation in region including secondary city is manufacturing employee, and the highest specialized occupation in region including third city has transitional characteristics of each region including primary and secondary city. And professional occupation such as lawyer, doctor, religionist and educator appeared to the region including primary city. Finally, Korean emmigrants in United States and Japan contributed to the revitalization of inner city areas. And potential ethnic organization can be seen in church, mass media, and enterprise association in United States, but it can be seen in community shopping association in Japan, Because American society is based on Christianity but Japanese society is not.
