In this paper, we propose a motion control scheme of robot manipulators based on visual feedback under camera-in-hand configuration. The desired joint velocity and acceleration for motion control is made by the feature-based visual data in the outer loop. The control input for tracking feature points on the image plane uses robot kinematics dynamic. The proposed control input consists of the image feature and the joint velocity error to achieve robustness to the parametric uncertainty. The stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov approach. Computer simulations and experiments on a two degree of freedom manipulator with 5 links are presented to illustrate the performance of proposed control system.
A smart parking management requires to track a vehicle in a indoor parking lot and to detect the place where the vehicle is parked. An advanced parking system watches all space of the parking lot with CCTV cameras. We can use these cameras for vehicles tracking and detection. In order to cover a wide area with a camera, a fisheye lens is used. In this case the shape and size of an moving vehicle vary much with distance and angle to the camera. This makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. In addition to the fisheye lens, the vehicle headlights also makes vehicle detection and tracking difficult. This paper describes a method of realtime vehicle detection and tracking robust to the harsh situation described above. In each image frame, we update the region of a vehicle and estimate the vehicle movement. First we approximate the shape of a car with a quadrangle and estimate the four sides of the car using multiple histograms of oriented gradient. Second we create a template by applying a distance transform to the car region and estimate the motion of the car with a template matching method.

An adaptive control algorithm for spacecraft rendezvous and docking in a Keplerian orbit is presented. The equations of relative motion of two spacecrafts expressed in a local-vertical-local-horizontal rectangular frame are converted to a general Hamiltonian form, then an adaptive control method developed for the uncertain Hamiltonian system is applied to the rendezvous and docking problem. A smooth projection algorithm is applied to keep the parameter estimates inside a singularity-free region, and a numerical example shows that the developed controller successfully deals with the unknown mass of the chaser spacecraft.

An intelligent control method is proposed for control of rigid robot manipulators which achieves exponential tracking of repetitive robot trajectory under uncertain operating conditions such as parameter uncertainty and unknown deterministic disturbance. In the learning controller, exponentially stable learning algorithms are combined with stabilizing computed error feedforward and feedback inputs. It is shown that all the error signals in the learning system are bounded and the repetitive robot motion converges to the desired one exponentially fast with guaranteed convergence rate. An engineering workstation based control system is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
This paper presents a non-regressor based adaptive control scheme for the trajectory tracking of underwater vehicle-mounted manipulator systems(UVMS). The adaptive control system includes a class of unmodeled effects is applied to the trajectory control of an UVMS. The only information required to implement this scheme ios the upper bound and lowe bound of the system parameter matrices the upper bound of unmodeled effects the number of joints the position and attitude of the vehicle and trajectory commands. The adaptive control law estimates control gains defined by the combinations of the bounded constants of system parameter matrices and of a filtered error equation. To evaluate the performance of the non-regressor based adaptive controller computer simulation was performed with a two-link planar robot model mounted on an underwater vehicle. The hydrodynamic effects acting on the manipulator are included. It is assumed that the vehicle's motion is slow and can be predicted with a proper compensator.

In this paper, we propose a collaborative tracking algorithm for intelligent video surveillance systems using the multiple network cameras. To do this, each camera detects a moving object and it's movement direction by motion templates. Once a moving object is detect, the Kalman filter is used to reduce noises, and a collaborative tracking camera is selected according to the movement direction and the camera state. In this procedure, Pan-Tilt-Zoom(PTZ) parameters are assigned to obtain clear images. Finally, some experiments show the validity of the proposed method.
Intrafractional motion of patients, such as respiratory motion during radiation treatment, is an important issue in image-guided radiotherapy. The accuracy of the radiation treatment decreases as the motion range increases. We developed a control system for a robotic patient immobilization system that enables to reduce the range of tumor motion by compensating the tumor motion. Fusion technology, combining robotics and mechatronics, was developed and applied in this study. First, a small-sized prototype was established for use with an industrial miniature robot. The patient immobilization system consisted of an optical tracking system, a robotic couch, a robot controller, and a control program for managing the system components. A multi speed and position control mechanism with three degrees of freedom was designed. The parameters for operating the control system, such as the coordinate transformation parameters and calibration parameters, were measured and evaluated for a prototype device. After developing the control system using the prototype device, a feasibility test on a full-scale patient immobilization system was performed, using a large industrial robot and couch. The performances of both the prototype device and the realistic device were evaluated using a respiratory motion phantom, for several patterns of respiratory motion. For all patterns of motion, the root mean squared error of the corresponding detected motion trajectories were reduced by more than 40%. The proposed system improves the accuracy of the radiation dose delivered to the target and reduces the unwanted irradiation of normal tissue.

This paper presents the position control of a closed-loop cylinder system using ER(electro-rheological)valve actuators. Following the field-dependent pressure analysis of the ER valve actuators on the basis of Bingham model of ER fluids, a 3 d.o.f. close-loop sylinder system having the heave, roll and pitch motions is proposed. The governing equations of motion are derived using Lagrange's equation, and a control model is established by considering system uncertain parameters such as load conditions. A sliding mode controller which has inherent robustness to system uncertainties is adopted to achieve robust tracking control performance. Tracking control results for sinusoidal trajectory were presented in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control system.

This paper proposes an adaptive control algorithm for nonholonomic mobile robots with unknown parameters and the proposed control method is used in numerical simulations for applying to a practical twowheeled welding mobile robot(WMR). The proposed adaptive controller to track an arbitrary given welding path is designed by using back-stepping technique and is derived for a nonlinear model under the assumption such that the system parameters are partially known. Moreover, the proposed adaptive control system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov stability. Inertia moments of system are considered to be unknown parameters and their values can be estimated simply by using update laws proposed in an adaptive control scheme of this research. The simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the accurate tracking capability of the proposed controller for two-wheeled welding mobile robot with a smooth curved reference welding path.

In this paper, we propose a cooperative motion planning algorithm for two tightly-coupled mobile robots. Specifically, the considered cooperative work is that two mobile robots should transfer a long rigid object along a predefined path. To resolve the problem, we introduce a master-slave concept for two obile robots having the same structure. According to the velocity of the master robot and the positions of two robots on the path, the velocity of the slave robot is determined. The slave normally tracks the master's motion, but in case that the velocity of the slave exceeds the velocity limit, the roles of the robots should be interchanged. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is proved by computer simulations.
