장거리 여행용 버스에서의 멀미발생 예측에 관한 연구 (Study on the Motion Sickness Incidence in Express Buses)

  • This study aims to investigate dynamic properties of express buses in the very low frequencies which affect motion sickness incidence. Since passengers often use express buses for long distance traveling, it is a critical point whether a give rise to motion sickness or not. In the study accelerations at the three points on the floor of the six test vehicles were measured during the driving at constant speeds. By applying frequency weighting curves suggested in ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-3, physical amount of accelerations were changed into perceptual amount which determines incidence of motion sickness. Motion sickness dose values were calculated from the frequency weighted time history of accelerations, and compared between the vehicles, driving conditions, and the seat positions in the bus. During the driving on public road and high ways for 50 minutes vomiting incidence ratios ranged 0.4 to 0.8%, which were equivalent to 2.4 to 4.8% for 5 hours' driving. The value of 4.8 % means two among 45 passengers may vomit after the traveling, which is very serious situation. Considering the very smooth driving condition at which the data were collected, motion sickness dose values will increase in real situations

Motion sickness dose values were calculated from the frequency weighted time history of acceleration signals, and compared between the vehicles, driving conditions. and the seat positions in the bus. During the 50 minutes' driving on the public road and high ways. the vomiting incidence ratios were seen to range from 0.4 to 0.8 %. which is equivalent to 2.4 to 4.8 % for 5 hours' driving. Unlike the very smooth road conditions considered in this work, motion sickness dose values encountered in real situations are expected to increase.

  • For boarding comfort and pleasant boarding sensitivity of passenger in passenger ship, there are a few methods such as motion sickness rate or MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence) to assess safety of passenger ship. To find out MSI or motion sickness rate of the training vessel Kaya of Pukyong National University, we use lots of various factors: sea condition, incident angle in main sail way, economic speed, calculation position of motion sickness, sea state, work place and reduce zone of ship. In this paper, we adopted Maxsurf Seakeeper program based on Strip Theory and carefully compared theoretical results with experimental results.

  • Excessive motion of the ship in rough sea would affect body's fatigue, cognitive ability, motion sickness, and the proficiency of activity. Among them symptoms of motion sickness are similar to fatigue and nausea. Motion sickness causes sudden degradations of ability to perform tasks in physical and psychological aspects, and causes delays or failure in mental activity, and also takes a significant amount of time recovering. In this study, questionnaire for MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence) survey was taken for the students aboard the training ship of Kaya to the open sea far from land. Motion sickness analysis was performed as comparing the results of questionnaire based on sea state, incident angle, economical speed, and location in the ship.

  • 본 연구에서는 실습선 가야호를 대상으로 하여 파랑 중 운동성능을 평가하였다. 그리고 쾌적한 승선감을 확보하기 위하여 실제 해상에서 운항중인 선박의 선내 위치별 수직가속도 성분을 선체운동 계산 기법을 통해서 구하고, 수직가속도 스펙트럼을 이용하여 가야호의 선속변화에 따른 가속도 계산 결과를 뱃멀미 지수(MSI; Motion Sickness Incidence)의 가이드라인과 비교 검토하여 멀미의 정도를 표시하였다. MSI 계산 결과는 선속이 5 knots, 10 knots, 12 knots로 커지는 순서대로 수직가속도의 가중치가 높게 나타나며, 입사각은 $180^{\circ}$$150^{\circ}$에 비해 선수사파인 $120^{\circ}$의 경우에 수직가속도의 가중치가 높게 나타났다.

  • The Overall Motion Sickness Incidence is applied to the hull form optimization of a wave piercing high-speed catamaran vessel. Parametric hull modelling is applied to generate two families of derived hull forms, the former varying the prismatic coefficient and the position of longitudinal centre of buoyancy, the latter instead the demi-hull separation. Several heading angles are analysed in a seaway, considering all combinations of significant wave height and zero-crossing period under two operating scenarios. The optimum hull is generated and vertical accelerations at some critical points on main deck are compared with the parent ones. Finally a comparative analysis with the results obtained for a similarly sized monohull passenger ship is carried out, in order to quantify, by the OMSI, the relative goodness in terms of wellness onboard of monohulls and catamarans, as a function of sea states and operating scenarios.

  • Research on ship motion and seasickness is recognized as the important research area to ensure the pleasant operative environment in addition to the research of operation safety of ship. In this paper, the motion performance in waves for the training ship Kaya of Pukyong National University is obtained by using the computer program based on Strip Method. To guarantee the pleasant seafaring in ocean, the vertical acceleration of ship motion is calculated according to the habitation division location in the ship. The results of calculation by changes of location of habitation division are compared with the guideline of MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence). The degree of motion sickness is shown and discussed through the comparison between calculated vertical acceleration spectrum and MSI guideline. To improve the safety of ship in motion and the pleasant seafaring in waves, the downtrend of seasickness ratio is needed by the decrease on vertical acceleration of the ship. Through the results in this paper, the relocation of both bridge and accommodation toward the aftship reduced the vertical acceleration and MSI.

  • 본 연구에서는 선박의 우수한 운항 성능과 쾌적한 승선감의 확보를 위해, 부경대학교 실습선인 가야호를 대상으로 해상상태, 선수각 조건, 선속, 그리고 선내 위치별로 수행된 뱃멀미 발현에 관한 5차에 걸친 설문조사 결과와 선체운동해석법(Strip Method)에 기초한 수치계산을 통해서 얻은 계산결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 이를 통해 많은 수의 학생이 승선하는 실습선의 거주구역 배치에 대한 타당성 검증과 함께 항해 중 멀미도를 낮출 수 있는 침로와 선속의 결정에 도움이 될 것이다. 본 연구에 의하면 해상상태가 거칠수록 전체 멀미비율이 높게 나타났으며, 선내 위치별로는 선체의 중량중심에서 멀리 떨어져 있는 선교와 거주구역에서 수직가속도의 가중치가 높았고 멀미비율도 높게 나타났다. 그리고 선수파에 비해 횡요시 수직가속도의 가중치가 높게 나타났다. 멀미도 조사와 MSI 계산의 비교에서는 운동 수직가속도가 증가하면, 상대적으로 멀미도도 증가하고, 수직가속도가 증가하는 구역과 멀미도 발생구역이 일치하였다.

선박의 운동 운항환경 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of the Motion Monitoring System of a Ship)

  • 바다에서 운항하는 선박은 바람과 파도 등의 외란 때문에 횡동요(Rolling), 종동요(Pitching), 상하동요(Heaving) 등의 운동을 하게 되며, 이러한 운동은 가속도 형태로 승객이 느끼게 된다. 따라서, 선박내의 특정 지점에서 좌우방향, 상하방향 가속도와 각속도 등을 계측하면 선원 또는 승객이 선박 운동에 어느 정도 피폭되었는가를 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 운동 운항환경 모니터링 시스템은 4개의 가속도계와 가속도계, 자이로가 포함된 관성 자세계측장치, 데이터 취득장치를 포함한 계측 및 통신부, 중앙에서 데이터를 관리하고, 운항환경 지수를 계산하는 전산기로 구성되고, 계측된 가속도와 각속도를 이용하여 운항환경을 나타내는 정량적 지수인 뱃멀미 지수(Motion Sickness Incidence, MSI), 운동유발 작업방해회수(Motion Induced Interrupt, MII)를 실시간으로 계산한다. 개발된 시스템은 한국해양대학교 실습선인 한나라호의 부산-목포, 부산-제주 연안항해시 실선시험을 통하여 유효성을 확인하였다.
