This paper suggests a motion compensation technique using GPS/IMU data in order to compensate for phase error caused by undesired motion of radar platform. An actual flight trajectory would be deviate from an ideal straight-constant trajectory with a constant velocity for SAR imaging, due to pitch, roll and yaw motion of aircraft caused by turbulence. This leads to blurred SAR images due to inter-pulse phase errors as well as along-track velocity errors. If the motion compensation is carried out to reduce those errors, SAR image quality can be significantly improved. Simulation results show that the motion compensation technique introduced in this paper is an effective tool to improve SAR image quality against severe motion of radar platform.

Plasma Display Panels(PDPs) suffer from motion artifacts because of subfield driving method. In this paper, a modified motion compensation method is proposed. We apply the optimized mapping table to the higher subfield group and the fill-up method to the lower subfield group to generate optimum mapping patterns. This method does not concentrate 'on' mappings on higher subfields. Therefore it can possibly become a more robust motion compensation.

Five DOF motion errors of a hydrostatic bearing table driven by the coreless type linear motor were compensated utilizing the active controlled capillaries in this study. Horizontal linear motion and yaw error were simultaneously compensated using two active controlled capillaries and vertical linear motion, pitch and yaw error were also simultaneously compensated using three active controlled capillaries. By the compensation, horizontal linear motion accuracy and yaw were improved from 0.16 ${\mu}m$ and 1.96 arcsec to 0.02 ${\mu}m$ and 0.03 arcsec. Vertical linear motion accuracy, pitch and roll were also largely improved from 0.18 ${\mu}m$, 2.26 arcsec and 0.14 arcsec upto 0.03 ${\mu}m$, 0.07 arcsec and 0.02 arcsec. The compensated motion errors were within the range of measuring repeatability which was ${\pm}0.02\;{\mu}m$ in the linear motion and ${\pm}0.05$ arcsec in the angular motion. From these results, it is found that the motion error compensation method utilizing the active controlled capillaries are very effective to improve the five motion accuracies of the hydrostatic bearing tables.

For compensating the error motion of hydrostatic tables, we have introduced a way that the clearance of table is controlled corresponding to the amount of eror with the actively controlled variable capillary, named as ACC. In previous paper, through the basic test, it was confirmed that by the use of ACC, the error motion within 2.7$\mu$ m of a hydrostatic table could be compensated with the resolution of 27nm, 1/100 contollable range, and with the frequency bandwidth of 5.5Hz, structurally. In this paper, we performed practical compensation of the linear and angular motion error of hydrostatic table using ACC. For improving the compensated motion accuracy, iterative control method is put into the control system. The experimental results show that by the simultaneous compensation of error, the linear and angular motion error are improved upto 0.25$\mu$ m and 0.4arcsec, which are about 1/10 and 1/3 of the non-compensated motion errors respectively.

A twin-servo mechanism is used to increase the payload capacity and assembling speed of high precision motion control systems such as semiconductor chip mounters. In this paper, we focus on the modeling of the twin-servo system and propose its network representation. And also, we propose a robust synchronizing motion control algorithm to cancel out the skew motion of the twin-servo system caused by different dynamic characteristics of two driving systems and the vibration generated by high accelerating and decelerating motions. The proposed control algorithm consists of separate feedback motion control algorithms for each driving system and a skew motion compensation algorithm. A robust tracking controller based on internal-loop compensation is proposed as a separate motion controller and its disturbance attenuation property is shown. The skew motion compensation algorithm is also designed to maintain the synchronizing motion during high speed operation, and the stability of the whole closed loop system is proved based on passivity theory. Finally, experimental results are shown to illustrate control performance.
This paper describes a method for overcoming the motion artifacts inherent in synthetic aperture(SA) imaging. based on the investigation results as to the influence of a target motion on synthetic aperture techniques. This method uses a region-based motion compensation approach in which only the axial motion is estimated and compensated for a given region of interest(ROI) under the assumption that the whole ROI moves uniformly The estimated axial motion is calculated with a crosscorrelation(CC) method at the Point where the focused signal has the maximum energy within the ROI. We also presents a method for estimating the axial motion using the autocorrelation(AC) method that is widely used to estimate average Doppler frequency Both computer simulations and in vivo experiments show that the proposed methods can improve greatly the spatial resolution and SNR of ultrasound imaging by implementing the SA techniques for two-way dynamic focusing without motion artifacts. In addition the AC-barred motion compensation method provides almost the same results as the CC-based one, but with a dramatically reduced computational complexity.
In this paper, we propose a novel architecture, which is based on DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform), for ME (Motion Estimation) and MC (Motion Compensation). The traditional algorithms of ME and MC based on DCT did not suffer the advantage of the coarseness of the 2-dimensional DCT (2-D DCT) coefficients to reduce the operational time. Therefore, we derive a recursion equation for transform-domain ME and MC and design the structure by using highly regular, parallel, and pipeline processing elements. The main difference with others is removing the IDCT block by using to transform domain. Therefore, the performance of our algorithm is more efficient in practical image processing such as DVR (Digital Video Recorder) system. We present the simulation result which is compare with the spatial domain methods. it shows reducing the calculation cost. compression ratio. and peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR).

For high quality image acquisition, compensating air-vehicle motion is essential for airborne SAR system. This paper describes a timing control based motion compensation method for airborne SAR system. Efficient timing control is critical for SAR system since it maintains many timing signals and timing setting for the signals should be updated frequently. This paper proposes Timing Cluster method as an efficient means for timing control of SAR system. Moreover, this paper suggests a simple and efficient method to compensate air-vehicle motion based on the Timing Cluster method. Timing Cluster method enables SAR system to control the timing in a timing noncritical way just maintaining little amount of information.
Video coding technologies are progressively becoming more efficient and complex. The Versatile Video Coding (VVC) is a new state-of-the art video compression standard that is going to be a standard, as the next generation of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard. To explore the future video coding technologies beyond the HEVC, numerous efficient methods have been adopted by the Joint Video Exploration Team (JVET). Since then, the next generation video coding standard named as VVC and its software model called VVC Test Model (VTM) have emerged. In this paper, several important coding features for motion estimation and motion compensation in the VVC standard is introduced and analyzed in terms of the performance. Improved coding tools introduced for ME and MC in VVC, can achieve much better and good balance between coding efficiency and coding complexity compared with the HEVC.
