The purpose of this study aims to investigate the characteristics of architectural association methods which apply Hall's poetic concept by looking into how Hall extracts languages and images under what circumstances and by analyzing how the extracted elements are integrated into an architectural space through what association processes. First of all, poetic association functions in the architectural process are compared, and the value of using visual associations in architectural designs are investigated based on the results of the analysis. Next, Steven Holl's poetic concept is investigated in the context of the concept extraction step, the idea expansion step, and the space composition step in order to find out how such association methods work in the process of architectural designs. The methods of reproducing, changing and using Steven Holl's poetic concept can be summarized as follows in relation with experiential associations, multi-meaning associations and morphology associations: 1) Steven Holl's experiential associations are a method of expressing perceived images in the form of languages in the process of interpreting land and programs. This method has the characteristics of reproducing various architectural ideas by generating a relationship between invisible characteristics of land in images and languages. 2) Steven Holl's multi-meaning associations are a method of directly associating a project with related objects and incidents, or of coming up with a hidden meaning. It has the characteristics of changing ambiguous images of metaphoric, figurative or ironic languages into concrete architectural images. 3) Steven Holl's morphology associations is a method of expressing morphology images and languages which are directly related to the images. Morphology associations have the characteristics of regenerating sensory experience elements into languages or images, which can be seen experiential associations; or they use metaphoric images in architecture by substituting them with other architectural elements, which can be seen in multi-meaning associations.

In This paper, we present a texture clustering method to extract Container ISO code in complex images. First, we make texture informations using top-hat morphology from realtime images, and we cluster those informations using horizontal and vertical clustering method to extract text area. After extensive experiment, our method demonstrated superior performance against well-known techniques as texture and histogram method.

In this paper, we propose a fast hierarchical image segmentation using mathematical morphology. The proposed segmentation method is composed of five basic steps; multi-thresholding, open-close by reconstructing, mode operation, marker extraction, and region decision. In the multi-thresholding, an input image is simplified by Lloyd clustering algorithm. The multi-thresholded image then is more simplified by open-close by reconstruction and mode operating. In the region decision, to which region each uncertainty pixel belongs finally is decided by a watershed algorithm. Experimental results show that the quality of the segmentation results by the proposed method is not inferior to that by the conventional method and the average times elapsed by the proposed method can be reduced by one tghird of those elapsed by the conventional method.
Gene expression profiles may offer more information than morphology and provide an alternative to morphology- based tumor classification systems. Informative gene selection is finding gene subsets that are able to discriminate between tumor types, and may have clear biological interpretation. Gene selection is a fundamental issue in gene expression based tumor classification. In this report, techniques for selecting informative genes are illustrated and supervised shaving introduced as a gene selection method in the place of a clustering algorithm. The supervised shaving method showed good performance in gene selection and classification, even though it is a clustering algorithm. Almost selected genes are related to leukemia disease. The expression profiles of 3051 genes were analyzed in 27 acute lymphoblastic leukemia and 11 myeloid leukemia samples. Through these examples, the supervised shaving method has been shown to produce biologically significant genes of more than $94\%$ accuracy of classification. In this report, SVM has also been shown to be a practicable method for gene expression-based classification.

Hydroxyapatite (HA), which is an important calcium phosphate mineral, has been applied in orthopedics, dentistry, and many other fields depending upon its morphology. HA can be synthesized with different morphologies through controlling the synthesis method and several parameters. Here, we synthesize various morphologies of HA using two simple methods: hydrothermal combustion and solution combustion. The phase purity of the synthesized HA is confirmed using X-ray diffractometry. It demonstrates that pure phased hydroxyapatite can be synthesized using both methods. The morphology of the synthesized powder is examined using scanning electron microscopy. The effects of pH and temperature on the final powder are also investigated. At $140^{\circ}C$, using the hydrothermal method, nano-micro HA rods with a hexagonal crystal structure can be synthesized, whereas using solution combustion method at $600^{\circ}C$, a dense cubic morphology can be synthesized, which exhibits monoclinic crystal structures.

The importance of data in the development of deep learning is very high. Data with high morphological features are usually utilized in the domains where careful lens calibrations are needed by a human to capture those data. Synthesis of high morphological data for that domain can be a great asset to improve the classification accuracy of systems in the field. Unsupervised learning can be employed for this task. Generating photo-realistic objects of interest has been massively studied after Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) was introduced. In this paper, we propose Morpho-GAN, a method that unifies several GAN techniques to generate quality data of high morphology. Our method introduces a new suitable training objective in the discriminator of GAN to synthesize images that follow the distribution of the original dataset. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate plausible data as good as other modern baseline models while taking a less complex during training.
The present study investigated the effectiveness of pretreatment on dentin bonding. The adhesive resin was 5% 4-methacryloyloxyethyl trimellitate anhydride (4-META) in methyl methacrylate (MMA) combined with poly-MMA powder. Polymerization of this resin was initiated by tri-n-butyl borage (TBB). Ground bovine dentin samples were etched with either an aqueous solution of 10% citric (10-0 solution) (Group I) or aqueous solution of 10% citric acid and 3% ferric chloride(10-3 solution) (Group ll ). After etching, the primer (an aqueous solution of 35% hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEM- A) and 5% glutaraldehyde was applied on the differently etched surfaces (Group III , Group IV). The 10-0 treatment showed the lowest tensile bond strength, followed by the 10-3 treatment, primer application after the 10-0 treatment and primer application after the 10-3 treatment. The relationship among the surface morphology after pretreatment, fractured surface morphology and tensile bond strength was examined. It revealed that the surface morphology change by different pretreatment influenced the bond strength and the resulting fractured surface morphology. The correlation of tensile bond strength with the fracture morphology was explained.

Shape control of gold nanocrystal is still one of the most important challenges remaining to achieve geometry dependent properties. Thus far, several strategies have been developed to control the shape of nanoparticles, such as adding capping agents and diverse additives or adjusting the temperature and pH. Here, we used an already established seed-mediated method that allowed us to focus on controlling the growth stage. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and ascorbic acid (AA) were used as the ligand and the reducing agent, respectively, without using any additional additives during the growth stage. We investigated how the relative ratio of CTAB and AA concentrations could be a major determinant of nanoparticle shape over a wide concentration range of CTAB and AA. As a result, a morphology diagram was constructed experimentally that covered the growth conditions of rods, cuboctahedra, cubes, and rhombic dodecahedra. The trends in the morphology diagram emphasize the importance of the interplay between CTAB and AA. Furthermore, high-index faceted gold nanocrystal was obtained by two step seeded growth. Already synthesized cubic particles developed into hexoctahedral nanocrystal consisting of 48 identical {321} facets, which indicates that the growth of gold nanocrystal is affected by initial morphology of seed particles. The hexoctahedral gold nanoparticles can be used in catalysis and optical applications which exploiting their unique geometry. Our research can provide useful guidelines for designing various facetted geometries.

Models based on diffusion-limited aggregation (DLA) have been extensively used to explore the mechanisms of dendritic particle aggregation phenomena. The physical and chemical properties of systems in which DLA aggregates emerge are given in their fractal. In this paper, we present a comprehensive study of the growth of electrodeposited copper dendrites in flat plate electrochemical cells from a fractal perspective. The effects of growth time, applied voltage, copper ion concentration, and electrolyte acidity on the morphology and fractal dimension of deposited copper were examined. 'Phase diagram' set out the variety of electrodeposited copper fractal morphology analysed by metallographic microscopy. The box counting method confirms that the electrodeposited dendritic structures manifestly exhibit fractal character. It was found that with the increase of the voltage and copper ion concentration. The fractal copper size becomes larger and its morphology shifts towards a dendritic structure, with the fractal dimension fluctuating around 1.60-1.70. In addition, the morphology of the deposited copper is significantly affected by the acidity of the electrolyte. The increase in acidity from 0.01 to 1.00 mol/L intensifies the hydrogen precipitation side reactions and the overflow path of hydrogen bubbles affects the fractal growth of copper dendrites.
Phase-change optical disk very rapid recording, high densification of data, resulting in high feedback rate and good C/N(carrier to noise) ratio of a feedback signal. However, repetitive thermal energy may cause the deformation of a disk or the lowering of an eliminability and a cyclability of the recording. The lowering of the cyclability can be reduced by insertion of thin layer of ZnS-$SiO_2$ dielectric thin film in appropriate disk structure between the upper and lower part of the recording film. Using the Taguchi method, optimum conditions satisfying both the optimized quality characteristic values and the scattering values for film formation were found to be the target R.F. power of 200W, the substrate R.F. power of 20W, the Ar pressure of 6mTorr, and the electrode distance of 6cm. From the refractive index data, the existence of the strong interaction between the electrode distance and Ar pressure was confirmed, and so was the large effect of the electrode distance on transmittance. According to the analysis of TEM and XRD, the closer the electrode distance was, the finer was the grain size due to the high deposition rate. However, the closer electrode distance brought the negative effect on the morphology of the film and caused the reduction of transmittance. AFM and SEM analyses showed that the closer the electrode distance was, the worse was the morphology due to the high rate of the deposition. Under optimum condition, the deposited thin film showed a good morphology and dense microstructure with less defects.
