Cenangium ferruginosum was known as the causal agent of dieback of pines including Pinus koraiensis and Pinus densiflora. Since the first report of the disease in Korea in 1989, a group dying occurred in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Kangwon and Chungbuk in 2007 spring. Although C. ferreginosum was known as a weak pathogen or a parasite, this disease caused in stressed pine by drought, wounding, extremely cold weather or unusual warm winter. In this study, we explained the features of cenangium dieback with the characteristics of pathogen to understand the trend of disease associated with the climatic change of the world. We collected pycnidia and apothecia from the diseased branches and stems of P. koraiensis and P. densiflora in Gyeonggi, Chungcheong and Gyeongsang province to characterization of pathogen. The fungal development on the diseased branches were observed and the isolates from pycnidia and apothecia were identified as Cenangium ferruginosum by their morphological characteristics and the molecular techniques.
This paper has been made for the soil micro-morphological study of Sirye series. The results are summarized as follows: 1. By high biological activity, soil materials are mixed. Pedotubules and Fecal pellets pedological features are formed by this activity. 2. There are no strong illuviation cutans. The formation of dirty cutans (new cutans) are due to sedimentation in furrow. 3. The relatively thick crystallization of goethite in plane voids are formed. 4. The lower parts of this soils are influenced by hydromorphology. 5. B3 horizon may be buried A horizon, containing the fragments of upper horizons.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyse and review deep learning convolutional neural networks for detecting and diagnosing early-stage dental caries on periapical radiographs. Materials and Methods: In order to conduct this review, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA) guidelines were followed. Studies published from 2015 to 2021 under the keywords(deep convolutional neural network) AND (caries), (deep learning caries) AND (convolutional neural network) AND (caries) were systematically reviewed. Results: When dental caries is improperly diagnosed, the lesion may eventually invade the enamel, dentin, and pulp tissue, leading to loss of tooth function. Rapid and precise detection and diagnosis are vital for implementing appropriate prevention and treatment of dental caries. Radiography and intraoral images are considered to play a vital role in detecting dental caries; nevertheless, studies have shown that 20% of suspicious areas are mistakenly diagnosed as dental caries using this technique; hence, diagnosis via radiography alone without an objective assessment is inaccurate. Identifying caries with a deep convolutional neural network-based detector enables the operator to distinguish changes in the location and morphological features of dental caries lesions. Deep learning algorithms have broader and more profound layers and are continually being developed, remarkably enhancing their precision in detecting and segmenting objects. Conclusion: Clinical applications of deep learning convolutional neural networks in the dental field have shown significant accuracy in detecting and diagnosing dental caries, and these models hold promise in supporting dental practitioners to improve patient outcomes.

This study investigated the morphological features, growth, and meat yield performance of Pekin (P), Nageswari (N), and their reciprocal F1 crossbreds (P♂×N♀ and N♂×P♀). A total of 301-day-old ducklings were reared in four different pens up to 20 weeks of age under intensive management conditions. Feeding and management practices were similar for all individuals throughout the experimental period. The morphology and plumage pattern of F1 crossbreds were similar to those of indigenous Nageswari ducks because of the dominant inheritance of the extended Black allele (E locus). Genotype had significant differences (P<0.05) among the four genotypes in morphometric measurements, except wing and shank length. Growth performance was highly significant among the four genotypes (P<0.001) from one-day to 12 weeks of age. The average live weights of P, N, P♂×N♀ and N♂×P♀ crossbred genotypes at 12 weeks of age were 2038.35±29.74, 1542.44±33.61, 1851.85±28.59 and 1691.08±27.80 g, respectively. Meat yield parameters varied significantly (P<0.05) among the different genotypes for all studied traits, except for liver and gizzard weight. Moreover, no significant differences (P>0.05) were observed between P and P♂×N♀ crossbred for important meat yield traits such as hot carcass weight, dressing%, back half weight, drumstick with thigh weight and breast meat weight. Remarkably, the P♂×N♀ crossbreed possesses 50% native inheritance, which contributes to better adaptation in a hot-humid environment. Our results revealed that the P♂×N♀ genotype could be suitable for higher meat production with better adaptability in the agro-climatic conditions of Bangladesh.
Based on the previous analysis by Wanghongjun(2008), this paper applies Optimality Theory (OT) to the field of partial reduplication in Korea to increase its scientific validity. Toward this end, I propose an alternative analysis of Korean partial reduplication, applied as a single process of prefixation. Reduplicated words by prefixation are divided into two types: with a heavy syllable of the stem, and another with the stem. The two types of partial reduplication are closely related by the sound features. In addition, I discussed Chinese partial reduplication from a prefixation perspective within the framework of OT and performed contrastive analysis of Korean and Standard Chinese processes of reduplication by focusing on constrained rankings. As a result, the alternative analysis showed a systematic relationship among the reduplicated words in Korean and Standard Chinese. Lastly, I explained that the coronal /t/ and liquid /l/ have a special functional hierarchy in both languages. This study can be re-explained based on the framework of OT according to a few major constraints, involving MAX-BR, MAX-IO. Their rankings show the adequacy of analysis.

Mucormycosis is an extremely rare but potentially life-threatening fungal infection. Gastrointestinal (GI) mucormycosis is very rare and occurs primarily in highly malnourished patients, especially in infants and children. A 55-year-old man with end-stage renal disease due to diabetic nephropathy, who had undergone deceased donor kidney transplantation 2 years prior, complained of abdominal pain and distension with a 3-day duration. Computed tomography revealed diffuse gastric wall thickening, and a huge amount of grey colored necrotic debris surrounded by erythematous erosive mucosa was observed at the antrum to upper body by GI endoscopy. The microscopic examination obtained from a GI endoscopic specimen demonstrated peptic detritus with numerous non-septate mucor hyphae in the mucosa and submucosa. Mucormycosis was diagnosed based on the clinical findings and morphological features. A total gastrectomy was performed and an antifungal agent was administered. A microscopic examination of the surgical specimen demonstrated invasive mucormycosis with numerous fungal hyphae with invasion into the mucosa to subserosa. The patient and graft were treated successfully by total gastrectomy and antifungal therapy.

As an effort to explore fungal diversity, fungal survey was undertaken in 2017 in the vicinity of demilitarized zone (DMZ) located in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. For the survey, wild plants and soils were sampled and subjected to fungal isolation. A total of 18 genera and 23 species including five unrecorded fungal species, Mortierella sclerotiella, M. sossauensis, M. verticillate, Eupenicillium saturniforme, and Trichoderma hispanicum, were obtained from the survey. This study described their morphological characteristics including colony features formed on media, light microscopic images and molecular characteristics of nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, 18S and 28S rDNA, ${\beta}-tubulin$ gene, calmodulin, and translation elongation factor $1{\alpha}$ ($tef1{\alpha}$) nDNA genes.

As carbon fiber reinforced composites(CFRP) are widely used in aerospace, automobile, marine, and sports goods applications, they have been studied extensively by various researchers. However, CFRP have been pointed out because of machining problems such as delamination and burr phenomenons. Especially, hole machining process, drilling, has non-smooth features on inlet and outlet surfaces of drilled hole. This kind of machining problem can be controlled to some extent by using high modulus pitch-CF, which has considerable effects on fracture behavior of composite compared with only PAN CF composite. Therefore, PAN and pitch hybridized CF composites were prepared having high strength and modulus. The results demonstrate that the hybrid CFRP specimens with pitch CF offer the good potential to enhance modulus as well as strength properties. Dynamic mechanical, flexural, and impact properties were measured and analyzed. Morphological surface of the composites were also observed by IFS-28, canon after hole machining.

Plant phenomics is a technique for observing and analyzing morphological features in order to select plant varieties of excellent traits. The conventional methods is difficult to apply to the phenomics system. because the color threshold value must be manually changed according to the detection target. In this paper, we propose the convolution neural network (CNN) structure that can automatically segment plants from the background for the phenomics system. The LeafNet consists of nine convolution layers and a sigmoid activation function for determining the presence of plants. As a result of the learning using the LeafNet, we obtained a precision of 98.0% and a recall rate of 90.3% for the plant seedlings images. This confirms the applicability of the phenomics system.

Objectives: Amygdalin is abundant in the seeds of bitter almond and apricots of the Prunus genus and other rosaceous plants. Amygdalin is known to have antitussive and anticancer activities. Apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death, is an important mechanism in cancer treatment. Methods: In the present study, we investigated whether the aqueous extract of Amygdalin induces apoptotic cell death in ME-180 cervical cancer cells. For this study, 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, terminal deoxynuclotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling (TUNEL) assay, 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining, flow cytometric analysis, DNA fragmentation assay, Western blot, and caspase-3 enzyme assay were performed on ME-180 cervical cancer cells. Results: Through morphological and biochemical analyses, it was demonstrated that ME-180 cells treated with Amygdalin exhibit several apoptotic features. The treatment of Amygdalin increased the Bax expression and caspase-3 enzyme activity and decreased Bcl-2 expression. Here, we have shown that Amygdalin induces apoptotic cell death in ME-180 cervical cancer cells through Bax-dependent caspase-3 activation. These results suggest the possibility that Amygdalin exerts anti-tumor effect on human cervical cancer.
