The Influence of Moral Behavior, Biomedical Ethics Consciousness, and Death Attitudes on Hospice Awareness in Nursing Freshman (간호학과 1학년의 도덕적 행동, 생명의료윤리 의식, 죽음 태도가 호스피스 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for developing hospice intervention strategies that can enhance hospice care perception plus attitude toward death of nursing students by grasping the factors affecting the perception of first grade students. Data were collected from 185 nursing students at J university in G-do. Analysis was done using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression with IBM SPSS WIN/25.0. Hospice care perception was correlated to moral behavior (r=.22, p=.002) and biomedical ethics consciousness (r=.29, p<.001). The most influential factor on the subjects' hospice care perception was biomedical ethics consciousness (β=.224, p=.012), followed by high financial competence of parents (β=.187, p=.027). The explanatory power was 11.5%. Therefore, systematic programs that can enhance moral behavior and biomedical ethics consciousness are necessary to promote awareness of hospice care. Also, the following data can be utilized as basic data to help develop hospice education programs.

Effects of Nursing Students' Knowledge, Awareness and Moral sensitivity of standard precautions on Performance of standard precautions (간호대학생의 표준주의 지침에 대한 지식, 인지도 및 도덕적 민감성이 표준주의 지침 수행에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study were to investigate knowledge, awareness, and moral sensitivity, performance of standard precaution, and to identify influencing factors on performance of standard precaution of nursing students. The subjects of this study were completed by 201 nursing students from 2 colleges in D City. Data were collected from December 2 to 20, 2019. Data were analyzed using the t-test, the ANOVA, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis by SPSS ver. 21.0. There were significant positive correlations among knowledge of standard precaution, awareness of standard precaution, and moral sensitivity on performance of standard precaution. The factors influencing performance of standard precaution of the study subjects were awareness of standard precaution(β=.78, p<.001), and the explanatory power of these variables was 60.5%. The development of awareness of standard precaution education program that focuses awareness of standard precaution change is needed.

  • This study investigated methodological principles of childhood education in the Choson Dynasty. The study was conducted through review of literature, particularly through the analysis of the textbooks used in childhood education and the Confucianism Classics. The ultimate goal of childhood education in the Choson Dynasty was the moral completion of human beings through daily practice. The methodological principles of childhood education were the principles of learning by imitation, early education, the inseparability of knowing and doing, education for Ye(禮) in daily life, sex-role education, and teaching with consideration of the developmental characteristics of the children. The scientific validity of such methods of traditional education is verified in terms of its many points corresponding to important principles of modern education.

A Study on Teaching and Learning to Improve Creativity in Home Economics Education (창의성 증진을 위한 가정과 교수-학습에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the study is to search for on teaching and learning to improve creativity in home economics education. It has been important for students to formulate and solve problems about home and family through creative thinking, home economics educators have to provide these teaching and learning methods. This research's methods were to search the importance of creativity in home economics education and the relevance between home economics and creativity, then to find the problems of some recent creativity education and formulate the assumption for creativity education in home economics education. Finally, it was presented the examples of teaching and learning to improve creativity. In above the process, we have to recognize as belows; 1. The teaching and learning methods in home economics education need the creativity for formulating problems and finding the elements which effect on practical problems. 2. It is properly selected to some teaching and learning methods in home economics education, and many methods to improve creativity may be included the assumptions for self-realization and moral responsibility.

Segmenting Fair-Trade Apparel Consumers Based on Product Knowledge

  • The purpose of this research was to develop a typology of fair-trade apparel consumers and present a clear overview of the influence of product knowledge on consumer behaviors. A two-step cluster analysis was used to classify respondents into sub-groups based on their level of self-perceived knowledge and purchase experience. In addition, ANOVA was used to test the predictive validity of the cluster solution. Income was the only demographic variable that significantly differed across groups. The more familiar and more experienced group had higher income than the other groups. Psychographic data showed that attitudes and moral norms varied across groups. The more familiar and more experienced group had more positive attitudes and higher level of moral norms than the less familiar and less experienced group. In terms of behavioristic data, groups differed significantly in purchase intentions and willingness to pay more for fair-trade apparel. That is, the more familiar and more experienced group was willing to pay more and had higher purchase intentions than the less familiar and less experienced group. Overall, the level of product knowledge and purchase experience were considerably low. This study thus confirmed the need to increase consumers' familiarity related to fair-trade apparel products.

College Students' Decision-Making Tendencies in the Context of Socioscientific Issues (SSI)

  • This study aimed to identify some tendencies when college students got to making a decision on socioscientific issues. The guiding research questions were as follows. First, what are college students' tendencies in terms of their moral reactions and attitudes toward SSI when they get to making a decision? And second, how do their own circumstances, personalities, and values play a role in shaping their stance on SSI? Data was collected by individual interviews with thirty college students. The results indicated that most participants immediately brought in their own values, worldviews, and feelings in implicit or explicit ways when talking about SSI. Their reactions were influenced by their backgrounds such as religion, and family background, personality, past experiences, personal interests, and prior knowledge. In addition, the responses of the participants presented some tendencies in their decision-making process. The tendencies can be categorized into 1) bringing in personal values without further engagement, 2) being confused with incompatible values, 3) being overwhelmed by too many aspects to consider, and 4) trying to be detached from the issues.

Level of Moral Development in Pre-dental Professionals (일부 예비치과 전문인력의 도덕성 발달수준)

  • A study was designed to evaluate the level of moral development in 450 pre-dental professionals of 2 educational institution in Jeollabukdo, Ik san city. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires from October 2010. The Korean version of the DIT(Defining Issues Test) was adopted to evaluate level of moral development with the score of P(%) and stage. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The mean scores of P(%) was 43.10 in dental students and 41.21 in dental hygiene students(p=0.190). The score of stage 5A was highest which was followed by S3, S4, S6, S5B, S2. The score of stage 5B and 6 revealed sigificant difference by groups. The score of stage 6 revealed significant difference by sex in dental students(p=0.003). In dental hygiene students, it's significant difference by religion(S5B, p=0.044), birth order(S2, p=0.027) and growth area(S4, p=0.015). As for the correlations between moral development and the score of the stage, the score of P(%) was negatively correlated with the scores of stage 2, 3, 4 and 5B. On the other hand, the score of P(%) was positively correlated with the scores of stage 5A and 6. In conclusion, for enhancing dental students' moral development it is necessary a systemic ethics education and program development in curriculum.

Influence of Professional Self-concept, Moral Sensitivity on Elderly Care Performance of Geriatric Hospital Nurses (요양병원 간호사의 전문직 자아개념과 도덕적 민감성이 노인간호실천에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship among professional self-concept, moral sensitivity and elderly care performance nurses in geriatric hospitals, as well as to clarify factors that affect nurses' elderly care performance. Participants consisted of 153 nurses working in geriatric hospital in G Province were evaluated. Date were collected from September 15 to October 15, 2018 and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. The mean of professional self-concept was $2.87{\pm}0.35$ out of 4, that of moral sensitivity was $4.70{\pm}0.47$ out of 7 and that of elderly care performance $3.51{\pm}0.41$ out of 4. Elderly care performance was siginificantly positively correlated with professional self-concept (r=.48, p<.001) and moral sensitivity (r=.31, p<.001). Factors influencing elderly care performance were professional self-concept (${\beta}=.32$, p=.001), moral sensitivity (${\beta}=.18$, p=.021), educational experience of geriatric nursing (${\beta}=.17$, p=.029), which explained 31.6% of elderly care performance. The results of this study suggest that supporting systems should be arranged to provide various learning opportunities as a way to increase the professional self-concept of nurses with short career as well as intervention strategies may be necessary to make education of geriatric nursing obligatory.

The Effects of Nursing Students' Moral Sensitivity and Nursing Professionalism Standard Precautions (간호대학생의 도덕적민감성과 간호전문직관이 표준주의 수행도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study is attempted to determine the effects of Moral sensitivity and nursing Professionalism on Standard Precautions among nursing students. Data collection is executed from November 15th to 30th of 2021, from 170 4th grade nursing students at one school city D. And the data answered to the questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of the study, Moral sensitivity of nursing students was 4.96±0.68 out of 7 points, the average of Nursing Professionalism was 3.93±0.61 out of 5 points and the average of Standard precautions was 4.55±0.61 out of 5 points. There was a correlation between moral sensitivity and standard precautions(r=.336, p<.001), between moral sensitivity and nursing professionalism(r=.384, p<.001) and there was a correlation between nursing professionalism and standard precautions(r=.518, p<.001). In additon, It was confirmed that the higher the nursing professionalism of nursing students, the higher the standard precautions(𝛽=.399. p<.001). The explainatoy power of the variables Standard Precautions was 35.7%. Based on the results of this study, it is suggest that develop education program increasing the Standard Precautions by enhancing Nursing Professionalism for infection management educational program among the students.

Mothers' Conceptions of Everyday Rules for Young Children (유아의 일상생활 규칙에 대한 어머니의 개념 연구)

  • This study examined mothers' ratings of everyday rules for their young children. Participants were 294 mothers of 2- to 5-year-old children attending kindergartens and nursery schools in Korea. Data were collected by questionnaire and were analyzed by $x^2$. Results indicated that the majority of mothers' rules for their children pertained to safety, interpersonal issues, and as children got older, social conventions. Mothers endorsed prudential justifications for safety and self-care, moral justifications for interpersonal rules, practical and moral justifications for safeguarding property, and conventional justifications for obedience/order and food/mealtime routines. Analyses of mothers' judgments of rule independence indicated that rules on interpersonal and safety issues were to be kept without exception.
