  • We arranged and classified rearing patterns of gifted children's parents in order to find out mothers' roles for their gifted children. We developed a frame of parents' role to analyze the rearing cases of nine mothers whose children currently attend the Korea Science Gifted Academy. We surveyed and conducted semi-structured interviews with nine mothers to collecting qualitative data and were able to find out their roles that were classified into 4 distinctive roles: Instructor, Supporter, Dialogist and Moral Discipliner. Findings indicated that there was no significant difference between the roles found from parents' interview and the ones found from literature review. However, it is noticed that Korean mothers not only played a role for connecting their children's human networks but also did the role for controling the natural process of learning Korean characters and words with siblings as well as parents before school age.

  • In this paper, We focus on grasping De Morgan's perspectives on mathematics education systematically. His perspectives can be summarized as followings. First, historico-genesis of mathematics must be considered in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Second, mathematical conception of students must be formulated progressively. Third, it is important to use errors which come out continually in the process of passing from inductive stage to deductive stage. Fourth, personal knowledge of students is important in the teaching and learning of mathematics. These De Morgan's four perspectives are the way of approach for experiencing moral certainty first of all to get to mathematical certainty. Moral certainty which he presented is a combination of rationality and humanity to fill up gaps between Platonism and general public education.

  • A series of immoral conducts are repeatedly occurring by some commanders and high-ranking officers in the ROK navy. They are seriously compromising not only harmony and solidarity of the organization, but also pride and morale of members of the service. They seem to be results of the fragile ethical background of the service as well as of failures in military education and training on ethics. This paper sees backgrounds of weak ethical foundations of the navy as follows: the enduring legacies of cultural factors, such as the toxic military culture of the Japanese colonization, dark side of mariners' traditions, the sea-aversive Confucian culture, and unique characteristics in any small organization or society, etc... This paper also suggests the current ethnic systems of the navy are primarily based on responsive measures against misdeeds, rather than fundamental prescriptions for immoral behaviors, in the absence of ethical instrument for warriors. The paper also emphasizes the importance of developing character-based leadership, founded on, above all, respects for human integrity and strong sense of honor. Moreover, the importance of accountability in charging the command, as advocated by the US navy, is also stressed in order to establish a more robust ethic ground within the navy. Based on these analyses, the author proposes that in order to become a stronger and healthier fighting force, the navy needs to make continuous command efforts and organizational innovations to improve ethic principle and moral standard of the service, to strengthen ethics of naval leaders by a robust system of ethical education and training programs, and ultimately to solidify a navy culture in which moral passions and energies are spreading over.

The data were collected from May 1, 2018 to May 20, 2018 for 302 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The average degree of MS was 3.45, BEA was 3.69, and AWLST was 3.36. MS was positively correlated with BEA(r=.149, p=.010) and AWLST(r=.223, p<.001). BEA was negatively correlated with AWLST(r=-.129 p=.025). Models including MS(${\beta}=.2.47$, p<.001) and BEA(${\beta}=-.166$, p=.003) explained 7% of variance in the AWLST. It is necessary to provide education that consider the MS, BEA and AWLST level of nursing students to help them establish an acceptable view of AWLST.
