In this paper, we consider a single-channel amplitude comparison monopulse system(SCACMS). The monopulse ratio curve(MR-C) of the SCACMS can be controlled by an amplitude difference between sum and different signal, a phase difference and the coefficient of the signal processor. We first propose the SCACMS with multiple variables, and then apply a genetic algorithm to optimize the multiple variables in terms of minimizing a root mean square error. The simulation results show that when three variables of the SCACMS are jointly optimized, the linear region of the MR-C can be extended approximately 187 % compared to that of two variables.
The monopulse tracking algorithm can estimate the location of a partner station based on an RF (Radio Frequency) signal. The location of the partner station is estimated based on the monopulse ratio curve (MR-C), which is calculated based on the sum and difference signal patterns of an antenna. Therefore, the range in which the estimated location can be calculated with high accuracy increases in proportion to the linear region of MR-C. In this paper, we proposed a method to extend the linear region of the MR-C curve using the beamforming technique for the tracking antenna system using the active phased array antenna. Simulation results based on the same antenna system, it was confirmed that the linear region of MR-C was enlarged by about twice as much as the general case where the proposed method was not applied.

In this paper, we propose a performance enhancement method of the target tracking system for communication signal using the monopulse and the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter to keep the connection of the communication system between the airplane and the ground. We suggest the minimum distance measurement method for tracking error angle of the monopulse signal instead of the generally used method of MR(Monopulse Ratio) curve, and the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter with variable gain for enhancement of the tracking accuracy and the probability of re-tracking the monopulse signal under the disconnection of link. We show the performance enhancement of the proposed method of monopulse system using the measured MR Curve results of the prototype system. And also, the comparison of simulation results between the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter with variable gain and the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter with fixed gain shows the performance enhancement of the proposed ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter. Using the proposed methods, we expect the enhanced performance of the existing target tracking system for communication signal only by changing the algorithm without hardware changes.

Antenna Tracking System has been required core technology with special tracking algorithm, and it can be achieved by program tracking, step tracking, optracking, and monopulse tracking as well. Depend on tracking requirement we might be able to apply eligible tracking method in accordance with Geostationary and Inclined Orbit Satellite. Further, we should deeply consider two important factors in order to act up to customer expectation in quality and system performance including competitive price therefore we need maximized endeavor to upgrade not only tracking system performance, but reduction of product through engineering skill and R&D investment.

In this paper, we proposed an enhanced monopulse MIMO radar system for the tactical scenario where the ground receivers are connected wireless backhaul and closely spaced. By applying the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter to the conventional monopulse MIMO radar, we show that the localization performance can be improved significantly. We also propose an efficient localization algorithm for a system with lower rate feedback. Using numerical simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve the localization performance while reducing the feedback over conventional scheme.
Monopulse active homing radar requires velocity and angle information of target to track fast moving target. Target velocity can be estimated by measuring the frequency shift between transmitted and received frequencies. Angle information is obtained by measuring boresight error. Measurement of doppler frequency component in received signal is done through FFT analysis and interpolation algorithm for fine tuning. Boresight errors in azimuth and elevation axes are proportional to the power of each difference channel relative to sum channel. The target signal power in difference channel is estimated more precisely by measuring the power of FFT result cell of maximum ...
In this paper, it is shown how the performance of the monopulse algorithm in additive noise is evaluated. In the previous study, the performance analysis of the amplitude-comparison monopulse algorithm was conducted via the first-order and second-order Taylor expansion of four variables. By defining two new random variables from the four variables, it is shown that computational complexity associated with two random variables is much smaller than that associated with four random variables. Performance in terms of mean square error is analyzed from Monte-Carlo simulation. The scheme proposed in this paper is more efficient than that suggested in the previous study in terms of computational complexity. The expressions derived in this study can be utilized in getting analytic expressions of the mean square errors.

A monopulse based on maximum likelihood(ML) in jamming scenario can suppress jamming signal using an inverse matrix of a covariance matrix. In order to achieve adequate suppression of jamming signal, the sufficient number of snapshots is required. However, this is not possible in high PRF scenario, which hinders a real-time tracking. Moreover, even with the large number of snapshots, the estimation accuracy of the target direction is decreased in low JNR(Jammer to Noise Ratio) due to insufficient jammer suppression. In this paper, we propose a monopulse algorithm that doesn't degrade performance significantly with a small number of snapshots and in low JNR. We show its derivation that exploits noise-jammer subspace of a covariance matrix, along with its performance through simulation.
In this paper, it is shown how the performance of the monopulse algorithm in the presence of an additive noise can be obtained analytically. In the previous study, analytic performance analysis based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series has been conducted. By adopting the third-order Taylor series, it is shown that the analytic performance based on the third-order Taylor series can be made closer to the performance of the original monopulse algorithm than the analytic performance based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series. The analytic MSE based on the third-order Taylor approximation reduces the analytic MSE error based on the second-order Taylor approximation by 89.5%. It also shows faster results in all cases than the Monte Carlo-based MSE. Through this study, it is possible to explicitly analyze the angle estimation ability of monopulse radar in an environment where noise jamming is applied.

Design and optimization of a broadband waveguide magic-T was performed for X-Band tracking radars. A multi-stepped conducting cylinder was used to enhance the bandwidth performance of the conventional waveguide magic-Ts. Particles swarm optimization in conjunction with genetic algorithm was employed to obtain the optimized geometrical parameters. The optimized design exhibits low reflection coefficient below -20 dB at all waveguide ports with frequency bandwidth of 12%. The transmission loss and difference are within 0.2 dB and 0.1 dB, respectively. Measured results are also shown to be in good agreement with the simulated results. Finally, the bandwidth performances for five and seven-stepped conducting cylinders are also investigated.
