  • We present the interim results of simultaneous time monitoring observations of $^{28}SiO$ v = 1, 2, J = 1-0, $^{29}SiO$ v = 0, J = 1-0 and $H_2O$ $6_{16}-5_{23}$ maser lines toward 10 known water fountain sources at a post-AGB stage. The observations have been carried out from 2009 June to 2013 September using the 21m single dish radio telescopes of the Korean VLBI Network. From six sources, we detected well separated red- and blue-shifted $H_2O$ maser features with large velocity ranges more than 100 km $s^{-1}$. From four sources, we detected red- and/or blue-shifted $H_2O$ maser features depended on observational epochs. However, we could not detected SiO maser emission from any sources and any epochs. For a representative water fountain source W43A, we obtained $H_2O$ maser spectra at 17 epochs which show a clear bipolar and discontinuous mass ejections. They also showed a periodic change between red-shifted and blue-shifted peaks. However, we need a more regular and short-time interval monitoring observations in order to fix the period and peak intensity variation interval.

  • Properties of multivariate variable sampling interval (VSI) Shewhart and CUSUM charts for monitoring mean vector of related quality variables are investigated. To evaluate average time to signal (ATS) and average number of switches (ANSW) of the proposed charts, Markov chain approaches and simulations are applied. Performances of the proposed charts are also investigated both when the process is in-control and when it is out-of-control.

  • The basic of the VSI charts is that if the sample statistic computed after a sample is taken shows some indication of a process change than the sampling interval before the next sample should be short otherwise long. This paper was shown the VSS chart can be considerably more efficient than the FSS chart and the effectiveness of VSI R chart with S chart used for monitoring a process standard deviation.

  • Photovoltaic systems are progressively attached importance and their installed capacity increases day by day because of their reliability, decremented installation and operating cost and simple construction structure. Generated power obtained from a photovoltaic system changes depending upon regional distinctness, and It can be estimated approximately by taking into consideration mean global radiation amount, temperature and humidity. However, there may be different regional negative or positive factors like dust, air pollution, desert powder which affect generated power. The best reliable data for a region can be obtained from the existing photovoltaic system in the region. For this purpose, a monitoring system for 1000W monocrystalline photovoltaic system constructed at Kocaeli University Uzunciftlik Nuh Cimento Vocational High Scholl is prepared. The installed monitoring system shows and records real values generated from the photovoltaic system and environmental data. In the study, Instantaneous data obtained from the monitoring system for October 2018 and 7th October 2018 is given within figures. Additionally, daily and monthly total energy productions of the photovoltaic system are given for October 2018 and date interval between July 2018 and March 2018, respectively.

  • In recent days, the demand for the remote ECG monitoring system has been increasing and the automation of the monitoring system is becoming quite of a concern. Automatic detection of the abnormal ECG beats must be a necessity for the successful commercialization of these real time remote ECG monitoring system. From these viewpoints, in this paper, we proposed an automatic detection algorithm for the abnormal ECG beats using QRS width and RR interval patterns. In the previous research, many efforts have been done to classify the ECG beats into detailed categories. But, these approaches have disadvantages such that they produce lots of misclassification errors and variabilities in the classification performance. Also, they require large amount of training data for the accurate classification and heavy computation during the classification process. But, we think that the detection of abnormality from the ECG beats is more important that the detailed classification for the automatic ECG monitoring system. In this paper, we tried to detect the VEB which is most frequently occurring among the abnormal ECG beats and we could achieve satisfactory detection performance when applied the proposed algorithm to the MIT/BIH database.

  • Temporal changes in the number of zooplankton species are important information for understanding basic characteristics and species diversity in marine ecosystems. The aim of the present study was to estimate the optimal monitoring frequency (OMF) to guarantee and predict the minimum number of species occurrences for studies concerning marine ecosystems. The OMF is estimated using the temporal number of zooplankton species through bi-weekly monitoring of zooplankton species data according to operational taxonomic units in the Tongyoung coastal sea. The optimal model comprises two terms, a constant (optimal mean) and a cosine function with a one-year period. The confidence interval (CI) range of the model with monitoring frequency was estimated using a bootstrap method. The CI range was used as a reference to estimate the optimal monitoring frequency. In general, the minimum monitoring frequency (numbers per year) directly depends on the target (acceptable) estimation error. When the acceptable error (range of the CI) increases, the monitoring frequency decreases because the large acceptable error signals a rough estimation. If the acceptable error (unit: number value) of the number of the zooplankton species is set to 3, the minimum monitoring frequency (times per year) is 24. The residual distribution of the model followed a normal distribution. This model can be applied for the estimation of the minimal monitoring frequency that satisfies the target error bounds, as this model provides an estimation of the error of the zooplankton species numbers with monitoring frequencies.

  • This article presents a simple and reasonable in-service, real-time, and continuous single-ended objective video quality assessment model for DTV broadcasting using a multiburst signal at the bottom of the transient effect area, similar to Vertical Interval Test Signals. The issue of in-service video-quality monitoring in DTV broadcasting is addressed, and an effective method of quality monitoring is presented. The proposed method is also implemented and tested in a range of situations using a simulated HDTV broadcasting network.

  • Parametric density concept is proposed for a long-range pipeline health monitoring. This concept is designed to obtain the attenuation of ultrasonic guided waves propagating in underwater pipelines without complicated calculation of attenuation dispersion curves. For the study, three different pipe materials such as aluminum, cast iron, and steel are considered, ten different transporting fluids are assumed, and four different geometric pipe dimensions are adopted. It is shown that the attenuation values based on the parametric density concept reasonably match with the attenuation values obtained from dispersion curves; hence, its efficiency is proved. With this concept, field engineers or inspectors associated with long-range pipeline health monitoring would take the advantage of easier capturing wave attenuation value, which is a critical variable to decide sensor location or sensors interval.

  • In industrial quality control, when engineers use VSI control procedure they should consider both required time to signal and switching behaviors together in the case of production process changed. Up to the present, many researchers have studied fixed sampling interval (FSI) chart and variable sampling interval (VSI) chart in the points of average number of samples to signal (ANSS) and average time to signal (ATS). However, ANSS and ATS do not provide any switching information between different sampling intervals of VSI schemes. In this study, performances of two sampling intervals VSI chart and three sampling intervals VSI chart are evaluated and compared. The numerical results show that ANSS and ATS values of two sampling intervals VSI chart and three sampling interval VSI chart are similar regardless the amount of shifts. However, the values of switching behaviors including ANSW are less efficient in three sampling intervals VSI charts than in two sampling intervals VSI chart.

  • Theoretical and numerical comparison have shown that variable sampling interval (VSI) charts are substantially more efficient than fixed sampling interval(FSI) charts in term of ATS(average time to signal). But the frequency of switching between different sampling intervals is a complicating factor in VSI procedures. VSI EWMA charts for monitoring mean vector of related qualify characteristics are investigated. To compare the efficiencies of the proposed charts, the performances are evaluated for matched FSI and VSI charts in terms of average time to signal(ATS) and average number of samples to signal(ANSS). For the switching behavior of the proposed VSI charts, average number of switches(ANSW) are also investigated.
