Metal Sculpture Research Applying Aesthetic Factor of 'Counting Stars at Night' by Yoon Dong Ju (윤동주 '별 헤는 밤'의 미적요소를 응용한 금속조형 연구)

  • Modern design started from having form of nature and biology and had gradually faced limit on the design subject, therefore changed to something with emotions. However, personal emotion is hard to receive sympathy from the public. Therefore the researcher have selected subject that is already receiving love from the public and tried to visualize it through metal sculpture. The subject selected for visualization is 'Counting Stars at Night' by poet Yoon Dong Ju who the Koreans love the most and the aesthetic factor was selected through prior studied literature and have made by applying metal, gemstone and coloring method. As a result the aesthetic factor could be selected understanding the emotion inside the poet 'Counting Stars at Night' by Yoon Dong Ju and have not lost objectivity in the emotions and could be able to feel the beauty of the metal sculpture with deep emotions of the 'Counting Stars at Night' by Yoon Dong Ju through completed metal sculpture. This served as a momentum for suggesting possibility of shaping the immaterial subject.

Platform Thinking within the Third Generation Science Park Concept: Emerging Cases from Finland and the Netherlands

  • This paper is intended as an opening of a dialog on how to apply platform thinking in the development of innovation environments. It will briefly describe a new STP (Science and Technology Park) concept called 3GSP (Third Generation Science Park), which is gaining momentum in Finland. The paper explains the fundamental changes that are currently taking place in the global innovation environment and explains why platform thinking is becoming an essential element in ecosystem development. The theoretical background and classifications of platforms are described and the benefits to be gained from STP perspective are highlighted. The paper emphasizes especially the role of so called 'competence platforms' and explains the main characteristics of a fully working competence platform. The role of competence platforms in understanding serendipity and as a fundamental factor in building the team is also highlighted. The paper analyses from STP perspective several practical examples, where platform thinking supports the emergence of new innovation environments, including Urban Mill (Finland) and Meetberlage (Netherlands). The requirements for comprehensive competence platform services are presented and their potential to support community building and therefore ecosystem development is illustrated. This analysis will provide STP practitioners with new models for applying platform thinking and will help to establish co-creation, open innovation and serendipity management practices. The case studies presented will help STP management teams to evaluate the benefits of competence platforms in different contexts.

  • This paper presents aerodynamic power outputs of wind turbine of 6 MW wind farm composed of 3 sets of 2 MW wind turbine according to the separation distance by using CFD. Layout design including offshore wind farm and onshore wind farm is key factor for the initial investment cost, annual energy production and maintenance cost. For each wind turbine rotor, not actuator disc model with momentum source but full 3-dimensional model is used for CFD and it has a great technical meaning. The results of this study can be applied to the offshore wind farm layout design effectively.

  • In this study, his technique was applied to a GDI spray in order to investigate the mixture distribution. In addition, the homogeneity degree and diffusion effect according to ambient temperature in the high pressure chamber were analyzed by using an entropy analysis method. From this experiment, we could find that entropy analysis is very effective method for the analysis of mixture formation, and the entropy values increase with the progress of uniformity in diffusion Process. we tried to provide the fundamental data for parameter which effects on the spray macroscopic characteristics with mixture ratio of diesel and gasoline. In addition, the mixture formation was analyzed by using entropy analysis. The entropy analysis is based on the concept of statistical entropy, and it identifies the degree of homogeneity in the fuel concentration. From the entropy analysis results we could find that the direct diffusion phenomena is a dominant factor in the formation of a homogeneous mixture at downstream of GDI spray especially in vaporizing conditions. As to increasing ambient temperature and increasing gasoline rate, the entropy intensity using the statistic thermodynamics method is increased because evaporation rate is higher gasoline than diesel.

  • China has made rapid strides in agricultural production during the past few years. Although the absence of any serious climatic disturbances is a contributing factor, implementation of the responsibility system to reward peasant families for their initiatives has been by far the most significant. This has resulted in increased specialization, a greater requirement for technical adivsory services, and a much higher demand for farm equipment and production inputs. The revamped system has brought with it some problems such as differences in income between the most progressive producers and their less successful neighbours and urban workers, a shortage of storage, transport and processing facilities, and a strain on the national treasury to continue to subsidize farm prices. Demand for fertilizers has been increasing at a fast rate, especially for nitrogen. This has led to a serious imbalance in nutrient use which must be corrected if the current momentum in improving crop yields is to be maintained. Following a decade of total stagnation during the Cultural Revolution, agricultural research and education facilities are being strengthened. Younger scientists, many with overseas training, are being placed in key positions. China is still a developing country, and much remains to be done; however, progress in the last decade, and especially in the past five years, has been remarkable.

  • This paper reports on theoretical study of the pressure overshoot in the delivery ports and pressure rising within balanced type vane pump. Pressure overshoot occur due to the accelerated fluid through the notch, so, result in pressure ripple, flow ripple, and noise. For calculating the pressure rising and fluctuations of pressure, we have modeled mathematically used continuity equation based on compressibility and momentum equation considered fluid inertia in the notch, and analyzed simultaneously. As a results of analysis, we have found oscillation of pressure and compression chamber pressure depend on the rotational speeds, notches. Using the model, notches have been shown to be important design factor in relaxing the rapid pressure rising and reducing the amplitudes of pressure overshoot.

A New Method to Retrieve Sensible Heat and Latent Heat Fluxes from the Remote Sensing Data

  • In order to retrieve the latent and sensible heat fluxes, high-resolution airborne imageries with visible, near infrared, and thermal infrared bands and ground-base meteorology measurements are utilized in this paper. The retrieval scheme is based on the balance of surface energy budget and momentum equations. There are three basic surface parameters including surface albedo $(\alpha)$, normalized difference vegetation index (NOVI) and surface kinetic temperature (TO). Lowtran 7 code is used to correct the atmosphere effect. The imageries were taken on 28 April and 5 May 2003. From the scattering plot of data set, we observed the extreme dry and wet pixels to derive the fitting of dry and wet controlled lines, respectively. Then the sensible heat and latent heat fluxes are derived from through a partitioning factor A. The retrieved latent and sensible heat fluxes are compared with in situ measurements, including eddy correlation and porometer measurements. It is shown that the retrieved fluxes from our scheme match with the measurements better than those derived from the S-SEBI model.

  • Since the end of 19th century, The form and inner space for the religious ceremony; liturgical space of Catholic churches in Busan diocese have been changed as various styles by several outer and inner factors. The changing of historical, social, and religious environment, such as Opening Harbor, Japanese Occupation, Korean War & Rehabilitation Period, and Vatican II are generally regarded as main outer factors, and the locality that lay behind the flux of those events is considered as the main inner factor. The former has usually operated as a momentum for showing general trend of Catholic church, while the latter has made local singularity expressed as unusual style and somewhat modified liturgical space compared with Its contemporary churches. In the context, this paper attempt to analyze the transformation process of style and liturgical space of Catholic churches in Busan diocese focused on revealing local singularity with main five churches, Bumil Church, Samrangjin Church, Milyang Church, Jungang Church, and Dongrae Church, constructed between the end of 19th century and 1962.

Optimized Multi-Output Fuzzy Neural Networks Based on Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Set for Pattern Recognition (패턴 인식을 위한 Interval Type-2 퍼지 집합 기반의 최적 다중출력 퍼지 뉴럴 네트워크)

  • In this paper, we introduce an design of multi-output fuzzy neural networks based on Interval Type-2 fuzzy set. The proposed Interval Type-2 fuzzy set-based fuzzy neural networks with multi-output (IT2FS-based FNNm) comprise the network structure generated by dividing the input space individually. The premise part of the fuzzy rules of the network reflects the individuality of the division space for the entire input space and the consequent part of the fuzzy rules expresses three types of polynomial functions with interval sets such as constant, linear, and modified quadratic inference for pattern recognition. The learning of fuzzy neural networks is realized by adjusting connections of the neurons in the consequent part of the fuzzy rules, and it follows a back-propagation algorithm. In addition, in order to optimize the network, the parameters of the network such as apexes of membership functions, uncertainty factor, learning rate and momentum coefficient were automatically optimized by using real-coded genetic algorithm. The proposed model is evaluated with the use of numerical experimentation.

How to Enhance International Competitiveness of Korean Pharmaceutical Industry with CEPA as a momentum?

  • CEPA(Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, hereinafter CEPA) between India and Korea may influence some changes on Korean pharmaceutical industry which shows less competitive advantages than Indian industry in many regards. So the purpose of this paper remains on suggesting the way of enhancing international competitiveness for Korean industry on the basis of double diamond model. Through the comprehensive and deep analysis, our findings on recommendable business strategies for Korea are as follows ; in terms of factor conditions, first, cooperative strategy in R&D for developing generics will be required. Second, Introduction of CMO business can be considered. In terms of demand condition, Korean firms should find out the chance for demand creation in Indian market which has future market potential and American market exploration, as soon as possible. With regards to strategy, structure and competition, trying M&A with leading Indian companies and utilizing well organized medical professionals in India will be considered. In the points of related and supportive parts, lastly, Korean government should try to make so called "National Strategic R&D committee" for pharmaceuticals and bring u-healthcare service to Korea in the first place. If Korean pharmaceutical industry implement above-mentioned strategies, CEPA can be turned into business opportunities from the crisis. As a result, Korean firms shall have more powerful global competitiveness eventually.
