  • The purpose of this study is to develop a practical image inspection system that could recognize it correctly, endowing flexibility to the productive field, although the same object for work will be changed in the size and rotated. In this experiment, it selected a fighter, rotating the direction from $30^{\circ}\;to\;45^{\circ}$ simultaneously while changing the size from 1/4 to 1/16, as an object inspection without using another hardware for exclusive image processing. The invariant moments, Hu has suggested, was used as feature vector moment descriptor. As a result of the experiment the image inspection system developed from this research was operated in real-time regardless of the chance of size and rotation for the object inspection, and it maintained the correspondent rates steadily above from 94% to 96%. Accordingly, it is considered as the flexibility can be considerably endowed to the factory automation when the image inspection system developed from this research is applied to the productive field.

  • In this paper we proposed system and algorithm to recognize hand gestures based on the millimeter wave that is in 65GHz bandwidth. The proposed system is composed of millimeter wave radar board, analog to data conversion and data capture board and notebook to perform gesture recognition algorithms. As feature vectors in proposed algorithm. we used global and local zernike moment descriptor which are robust to distort by rotation of scaling of 2D data. As Experimental result, performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated and compared with those of algorithms using single global or local zernike descriptor as feature vectors. In analysis of confusion matrix of algorithms, the proposed algorithm shows the better performance in comparison of precision, accuracy and sensitivity, subsequently total performance index of our method is 95.6% comparing with another two mehods in 88.4% and 84%.

  • A descriptor which is suitable for motion analysis by using the motion features of moving objects from the real time image sequence is proposed. To segment moving objects from the background, the background learning is performed. We extract motion trajectories of individual objects by using the sequence of the 1st order moment of moving objects. The center points of each object are managed by linked list. The descriptor includes the 1st order coordinates of moving object belong to neighbor of the pre-defined position in grid pattern, The start frame number which a moving object appeared in the scene and the end frame number which it disappeared. A video retrieval by the proposed descriptor combining global and local feature is more effective than conventional methods which adopt a single feature among global and local features.

  • The different calculated quantum chemical descriptors by DFT method were used for prediction of some sulphanilamide Schiff bases inhibitor activity as a binding constant (log K). Multiple linear regression (MLR) and artificial neural network (ANN) were employed for developing the useful quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) model. The obtained results presented superiority of ANN model over the MLR one. The offering QSAR model is very easy to computation and Physico-Chemically interpretable. Sensitivity analysis was used to determine the relative importance of each descriptor in ANN model. The order of importance of each descriptor according to this analysis is: molecular volume, molecular weight and dipole moment, respectively. These descriptors appear good information related to different structure of sulphanilamide Schiff bases can participate in their inhibitor activity.

  • The design of an automatic aircraft recognition system involves two parts. The first part is extraction of invariant features independent of scale, rotation and translation. The second part is determination of optimal decision procedures, which are needed in the classification process. In this research, we extracted invariant aircraft features regardless of size, rotation and translation using Fourier Descriptors and Zernike Moments and classified using neural networks.

  • In this paper, we propose the method that extract shape features using the DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) via simple invariant normalization. To retrieve effectively, we used measures, circularity and eccentricity, as filters to reduce the number of retrieved images. The experimental results show that our method is better than the methods of Fourier Descriptors and Moment Invariant for various leaf images.

  • This paper presents a performance evaluation of shape descriptors for gait analysis in case of silhouette sequence images. We used moment descriptors(MD), Fourier descriptors(FD) and Zernike descriptors(ZD) as a shape descriptor. To evaluate their performance, we firstly defined the performance index, that is, AI(asymmetry index) and PI(periodic index) based on the periodic property of the gait images. This is why they are represented by periodic parameters due to periodic gait images. This index means that how the shape is represented periodically. According to these indexes, we evaluated the data sets with periodic images, downloaded from internet. The results showed that Zernike descriptors had better performance of AI = 1.09 and PI = 2.21 than others. And in case of FD and ZD, it's efficient to implement the gait analysis with 5~10 parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose a new shape similarity measure for M:N polygon pairs regardless of different object cardinalities in the pairs. The proposed method compares the projections of two shape functions onto Zernike polynomial basis functions, where the shape functions were obtained from each overall region of objects, thus not being affected by the cardinalities of object pairs. Moments with low-order basis functions describe global shape properties and those with high-order basis functions describe local shape properties. Therefore several moments up to a certain order where the original shapes were similarly reconstructed can efficiently describe the shape properties thus be used for shape comparison. The proposed method was applied for the building objects in the New address digital map and a car navigation map of Seoul area. Comparing to an overlapping ratio method, the proposed method's similarity is more robust to object cardinality.
