Ladle내 잔류(殘留) 용융(熔融)슬래그의 LF 공정(工程)으로 재활용(再活用)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Recycling of Molten Ladle Slag Residue into LF Process)

  • 전기로 제강공정 중 LF 공정에서 슬래그는 전기로(EAF)에서 이월된 슬래그와 출강 중에 조재제인 생석회, 돌로마이트 등이 용강 중에 투입되어 생성된다. LF 조업이 끝나면 ladle은 연속주조 공정(CCM)으로 이송되며, ladle 하부의 노즐을 통해 tundish로 용강을 내보내어 연속 주조조업을 하게 된다. 일반적으로 연속 주조공정 후 ladle에 남는 슬래그와 잔강(殘鋼)은 슬래그 포트(Pot)에 받아 슬래그 야적장으로 이송되어 파쇄 후 처리된다. 본 연구에서는 연속 주조공정 후 ladle에 잔류한 용융슬래그(잔강(殘鋼) 포함)를 전기로 출강 후에 ladle 상부에 직접 투입하여 LF 공정 초기의 슬래그를 형성하는데 활용하고자 하였다. 그 결과 LF 공정 중에 사용되는 생석회의 원단위는 2.2 ~ 3.2 kg/steel-ton 저감되었으며, 용강의 생산회수율은 0.3 ~ 0.5% 증가되었다.

  • Ash melting chamber is one of the key facility of the pyrolysis-melting incineration system, and it should be designed and operated very carefully for avoiding solidification of slag. In this study, an example of numerical and experimental scale-up process of the melting chamber, in which high speed air is injected to the molten slag and generates bubbles, which enhances agitation of the slag and char combustion, is presented. Cold flow test, combustion and melting test in a lab-scale (30 kg/hr) chamber and a pilot scale (200 kg/hr) chamber. Minimum energy for maintaining molten slag is derived, and it was found that the molten slag can be maintained efficiently by concentrating heat into the bubbling slag.

  • Molten steel level information of ladle is very important for process control in steelmaking process. At secondary refining process, measuring lance and snokel have to keep constant thier depth from molten steel surfaces. But, there is much slag on the molten steel surface. Besides, not only the thickness of slag is varied with refining condition, but also molten steel level is largely affected by firebrick errosion. Then, optical measuring method and/or by human eyes cannot detect true molten steel surface, but slag surface. This slag thickness is 300mm at maximum, then huge diameter eddy current sensor will be needed if that type sensor is applied. In addition to, cooling system is necessary because the molten steel and slag temperature is high. This is not practically. To solve this problem, immersion type levelmeter is developed. This sensor is made up from primary and secondary cylindrical coils. High frequency current is applied to primary coil. Electro-motive force from secondary coil is measured, which is varied with molten steel level. This complete set is installed within stainless steel long capsule and attached to top of lance. This sensor is immersed into molten steel bath of ladle or tundish with protection of expendable paper sleeve.

  • Phosphorus exhibits considerable segregation in steelmaking slag. In order to recover phosphorus from slag to $K_3PO_4$ via molten iron, a carbothermic reaction using microwave heating was suggested recently. The carbothermic reduction of phosphorus from slag to molten iron using microwave heating was carried out at 2073K. However, at this temperature the thermodynamic properties of both slag and molten iron cannot be determined experimentally. Therefore, the computational approach of the so-called CALPHAD method is very useful to understand the transfer of phosphorus from slag to metal and to enhance this reaction. In the present investigation, a theoretical study of the reduction behavior of phosphorus in slag was carried out at much lower temperatures using the recently developed thermodynamic database in the FactSage program. The calculated results showed reasonable accordance with the experimental data; namely, the thermodynamic database could be applied successfully to higher temperature reactions. The current study found that higher temperature and high $SiO_2$ concentration are favorable for the recovery of phosphorus from slag.

고로 슬래그를 사용한 용융클링커의 광물학적 특성 (Mineral Properties of Molten Clinker with Blast Furnace Slag)

  • Raw mix of molten clinker was fabricated using blast furnace slag as starting material. Raw mix was melted at 1620$^{\circ}C$ for molten clinker fabrication. It was found that molten clinker contained alite and belite equivalent to OPC clinker mineral by optical microscope and SEM. The size of alite was 10~50 ${\mu}m$ and that of belite was 20~80 ${\mu}m$. This result thought to be attributed low $Al_2O_3$ content and cooling condition. Interstitial phase increased with blast furnace slag content and gehlenite was formed by the condition of LSF and SM. So raw mix with 27~41% blast furnace slag could be converted into cement clinker by appropriate choice of melting andcooling methods in this study.

  • 용융클링커 제조용 혼합원료 중의 하나로 고로슬래그를 사용하였다. 고로슬래그를 사용한 혼합원료는 용융클링커 제조를 위해 1620에서 용융하였다. 냉각된 클링커는 XRD 패턴으로 클링커 광물의 생성여부를, 색도분석기로 색도를 분석하였다. 용융클링커는 XRD 분석을 통해 OPC 광물과 동등의 클링커 광물을 포함하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 용융시멘트는 OPC보다 백색도가 높아, 색상이 OPC보다 옅게 관찰되었다. 용융시멘트의 LSF 및 SM이 높아짐에 따라 백색도는 낮아졌다. 또한 슬래그를 용융시켜 제조한 시멘트 클링커는 고로 슬래그시멘트보다 백색도가 높았다.

저항센서를 이용한 제강용 슬래그 두께측정 방안 연구 (A study on the slag-thickness measuring system for steel making foundaries by using a resistivity detector.)

  • 용강 및 고온슬래그의 현저한 저항차를 이용한 제강용 슬래그 두께 측정시스템을 개발하기 위하여 시험용 저항센서형 검출소자 제작 및 측정시스템을 구성하고 측정실험을 통하여 저항센서형 슬래그 측정시스템의 효율 및 측정정도 측면에 대하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 용강 및 슬래그의 저항차는 $10^3$ order로 확인되었으며 용강 및 슬래그의 이러한 현저한 저항차를 이용하여 고정도로 슬래그 두께를 측정할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

  • 침지노즐(SEN)의 재료로 사용되는 지르코니아/흑연 재질에서 용강 및 슬래그에 의한 침식의 형태를 살펴본 결과, 침식의 첫번째 기구는 부분안정화 지르코니아 내 안정화제인 CaO가 용강 및 슬래그에 의해 용해되면서 입방정 안정화 지르코니아가 단사정상으로 상전이하여 일어났는데, 상전이 시 부피팽창에 의한 균열이 발생하고 파괴가 진행되었고, 이로 인하여 미세 $ZrO_2$입자의 용해 및 탈락이 촉진되었다. 침식의 두 번째 기구는 슬래그가 큰 c-$ZrO_2$입자의 입계를 따라 침투하여 작은 입자들로 분리시키고, 작은 입자들이 용강과 슬래그에 탈락되어 진행되었다. 마지막 기구로는 입방정 지르코니아와 흑연이 반응하여 다공질의 미세한 ZrC 상을 형성하고, 이들이 slag에 용해되면서 침식이 진행되었다.

제강공정에서 수소의 거동 (Hydrogen Behavior in the Steelmaking Process)

  • The behavior of hydrogen in the steel making process was investigated. The relation between the composition of ladle slag and hydrogen concentration in molten steel was considered. The hydrogen distribution ratio between ladle slag and molten steel was increased with increasing basicity of the slag; it was about 20 when the basicity of slag was 15. Hydroxyl capacity measured from the hydrogen distribution ratio between slag and the molten steel was comparatively corresponding to the value of hydroxyl capacity measured by the equilibrium reaction of slag and $H_2O$ gas. However, it is considerably different from the value calculated by regular solution model. The influence of hydrogen on a sticking type breakout is considered. The effect of hydrogen and $H_2O$ gas on the crystallization behavior of mold powder was investigated by DHTT (Dual hot thermocouple technique). As a result, it was proved that mold powder could be crystallized by $H_2O$ gas in the atmosphere. Therefore, it is concluded that $H_2O$ gas in the atmosphere can be a possible cause of the sticking type breakout that occasionally occurs in the continuous casting process.

  • A steady-state analysis has been conducted to predict the behavior of the slag layer in the entrained-flow slagging coal gasifier. The analysis takes into consideration the composition dependent slag properties such as density, viscosity, heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and temperature of critical viscosity. The amount of added flux to the design coal and the variation of syngas temperature inside the gasifier have been adopted as calculation parameters. The predicted results are the local thickness of the molten and the solid slag layers, and the slag viscosity and the velocity distribution across the molten slag layer along the gasifier wall near the slag tap.
