수자원의 수질과 오염에 대한 기반암의 영향 연구 : 통계학적 접근 (The Effects of Bed-rock Formations on Water Quality and Contamination : Statistical Approaches)

  • 이 연구는 충북 미원면 일대 옥천대 흑색셰일 분포지의 상부 화전리층과 구룡산층 지역에서 기반암의 종류에 따른 수질과 오염특성의 변화를 규명하려는 목적으로 수행되었다. 배경수질은 상부 화전리층 지역 시료에서는 주로 (Ca, Mg)-$HCO_3$ 유형이, 구룡산층 지역 시료에서는 $SO_4$의 상대적인 부화로 인하여, 주로 (Ca, Mg)-$SO_4$, (Ca, Mg)-$HCO_3$ 유형이 나타났다. 지하수 시료의 경우, 상부 화전리층 시료에서는 탄산염 및 규산염 광물의 풍화가, 구룡산층 시료에서는 규산염 광물의 풍화가 주를 이루고 있다. 하천수 시료의 경우도 대부분 물-암석 반응의 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다 군집분석의 결과, 지하수 시료는 크게 3그룹으로, 하천수 시료는 크게 4그룹으로 분류된다. 요인분석의 결과, 물 시료내의 각각의 화학원소의 함량은 주로 자연적인 풍화의 요인과 일부 인위적인 오염의 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 변형된 오염지수(M.R.I.)를 사용하여 연구지역의 수질오염을 살펴본 결과 -0.08∼0.18 사이로 나타나며, 주로 구룡산층 채석장 지역 시료에서 0이상을 나타내었다. 이 연구에서 도입된 변형된 오염지수는 앞으로 수질 오염 예측 및 관리자를 위한 유용한 도구로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • Present study was undertaken to establish the modified Broca's indices to estimate standard body weight by using a total of 5,496 insured persons who were medically examined at the Honam Medical Room of Dong Bang Life Insurance Company Ltd. from January, 1983 to January, 1986. The results were as follows: 1. Error of estimated standard body weight appearing by applying modified Broca's indices is generally greater in short build persons than in tall build persons and is more dominant especially in female group.

대사증후군 환자의 영양소 섭취상태 및 식사의 질과 염증지표 농도의 상관성 (Relationship between Nutrients Intakes, Dietary Quality, and Serum Concentrations of Inflammatory Markers in Metabolic Syndrome Patients)

  • Elevated serum concentration of inflammation markers is known as an independent risk factor of metabolic syndrome (MS) and dietary intake is an important factor to control MS. The purpose of this study was to investigated the hypothesis that inflammatory indices are associated with dietary intake and diet quality index-international (DQI-I) in subjects with MS. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 156 men and 73 postmenopausal women with MS, defined by three or more risk factors of the modified Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. Serum levels of high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), adiponectin were examined and nutrients intake and DQI-I were assessed using a semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire. The total DQI-I score was significantly higher in female subjects ($65.87{\pm}9.86$) than in male subjects ($62.60{\pm}8.95$). There was a positive association between hs-CRP and polyunsaturated fatty acid intake (p < 0.05) and a negative association between adiponectin and lipid (p < 0.05), total sugar (p < 0.01), and total fatty acids (p < 0.05). When the subjects were divided into 5 groups by quintile according to serum adiponectin and hs-CRP level, there was no association between DQI-I score and hs-CRP levels. Moderation score of DQI-I was significantly higher in highest quintile group than the lower quintile groups. Therefore, our results provide some evidence that dietary intake and diet quality are associated with inflammation markers and dietary modification might be a predictor to decrease risk for metabolic syndrome complications. However further research is needed to develop the dietary quality index reflecting the inflammatory change by considering the dietary habit and pattern of Koreans.

Condition assessment of raking damaged bulk carriers under vertical bending moments

  • This paper concerns about the raking damages on the ultimate residual hull girder strength of bulk carriers by applying the modified R-D diagram (advanced method). The limited raking damage scenarios, based on the IMO's probability density function of grounding accidents, were carried out by using sampling technique. Recently, innovative method for the evaluation of the structural condition assessment, which covers the residual strength and damage index diagram (R-D diagram), was proposed by Paik et al. (2012). This concept is applied in the present study and modified R-D diagram, which can be considered vessel size effect, is then proposed. Four different types of bulk carrier structures, i.e., Handysize (37K), Supramax (57K), Kamsarmax (82K) and Capesize (181K) by Common Structural Rule (CSR), were applied to draw the general tendency. The ALPS/HULL, intelligent supersize finite element method, was employed for the ultimate longitudinal strength analysis. The obtained empirical formulas will be useful for the condition assessment of bulk carrier structures. It can also cover different sizes of the bulk carriers in terms of ultimate longitudinal strength. Important insights and findings with useful guidelines developed in this study are summarized.

닥나무 인피섬유의 절단장이 펄프화 및 한지의 물성에 미치는 영향(제1보) - 국산 닥 백피의 특성 - (The Effects of the Cutting Length of Paper Mulberry Bast Fiber on Pulping and Hanji Properties(I) - White bast of Korea grown paper mulberry -)

  • In general, the entire of paper mulberry bark, which is not cut into pieces with an appropriate length, have been used in the pulping. This kind of pulping method couldn't accomplish the improvement of beating and sheet forming efficiency. For this reason, we investigated the effects of the cutting length of paper mulberry bast fiber on pulping and Hanji (Korean traditional paper) properties, in order to develop high quality Hanji manufacturing process. The cutting length variation of paper mulberry white bast did not great effects on pulp yields. The pulp yields based on pulping methods were sulfomethylated pulping av. 57.4%, alkali-hydrogen peroxide pulping av. 55.4%, and alkaline pulping av. 53.5% respectively. The optical properties such as brightness, opacity, scattering coefficient, and absorption coefficient were slightly improved by the increase of paper mulberry white bast cutting length. The increase of paper mulberry white bast cutting length resulted in poor sheet formation. Physical properties such as breaking length, TEA, tear index, burst index, and folding endurance were slightly improved by the increase of cutting length. The modified pulping processes, which used sulfomethylated method and alkali-hydrogen peroxide method, showed better pulp and sheet properties than conventional alkaline pulping.

Comparative Study of Growth and Gonad Maturation in Diploid and Triploid Marine Medaka, Oryzias dancena

  • The marine medaka, Oryzias dancena is a suitable sample as a laboratory animal because it has a small size and clearly distinguishes between female and male. Data on the growth and maturity of the diploid and triploid sea cucurbit species suitable for laboratory animals are very useful for studying other species. Triploidy was induced in the marine medaka by cold shock treatment ($0^{\circ}C$) of fertilized eggs for 45 min, applied two minutes after fertilization. The diploid and triploid male fish were larger than their female counterparts (P<0.05), and the concentrations of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (T4) were higher in the induced triploids over 1 year (P<0.05). In both the diploid and tri-ploid groups the concentrations of TSH and T4 were higher in the male fish than in the females (P<0.05), while the testo-sterone and estradiol-$17{\beta}$ concentrations in the induced triploids were lower than in the diploids (P<0.05). The gonadosomatic index (GSI) of the triploid fish was lower than that for the diploids, and the GSI for females in each ploidy group were higher than that for the males. For both groups the GSI was highest at 4 months of age, and decreased thereafter to 12 months. Analysis of the gonads of one-year-old triploid fish suggested that the induction of triploidy probably causes sterility in this species; this effect was more apparent in females than in males.

시력장애와 사지마비를 호소하는 시신경척수염 환자의 한방 증례 보고 1례 (A Case Report of Treatment of a Patient with Neuromyelitis Optica and Suffering from Vision Disorder and Quadriplegia with Korean Traditional Medicine)

  • Objectives: This is a case report regarding the effect of Korean traditional medicine on vision disorder and quadriplegia in a patient with neuromyelitis optica. Methods: We treated a patient who was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica with Korean traditional medicine, including acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine (Gigugyanghyeol-tang gamibang) for 106 days. We evaluated the patient with the International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI), Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) Grade, and Numeric Rating Scale-11 (NRS-11). Results: After treatment, the patient's symptoms were improved. The ISNCSCI scores increased from 42 to 66 in motor score, from 152 to 196 in sensory score, and from A to D in the ASIA impairment scale; the MBI score increased from 9 to 33, while the score of the MAS Grade decreased from I+ to I, and the NRS-11 scores of vision disorder, spasticity, and tingling decreased from 10 to 7, 3, and 2-3, respectively. Conclusions: Korean traditional medicine may be effective for treatment of vision disorder and quadriplegia in patients with neuromyelitis optica.

공간 자기상관성을 고려한 산불피해지 경계 형성과 경관특성변수들과의 관계 (Relationships Between Edge Formation of Burned Forests and Landscape Characteristics with Consideration on Spatial Autocorrelation)

  • 가장자리는 산불 피해 후 산림생태계 변화 및 회복과정에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 산불피해지의 공간 자기상관성을 고려하여 산불피해지 가장자리 형성과 경관특성변수들과의 관계 분석에 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 연구대상지로는 2000년도에 발생한 삼척 산불피해지를 선정하였으며, 대상지내 경관특성변수 측정을 위하여 산불피해지 전 지역을 포함하도록 500 $m^2$ 격자를 생성하였다. 연구에 사용된 경관 특성 변수들로는 표고, 경사, TWI(Topographic Wetness Index), SRI(Solar Radiation Index)을 사용하였고, 연료유형변수와 토지피복 변수를 포함시켰다. 격자들은 산불피해지 경계선과 교차하는 격자는 가장자리로 그 외의 격자들은 내부지역으로 설정하였다. 공간자기 상관을 보정하기 위하여 경관 변형된 t-검정과 상관분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 산불피해지 경계 형성과 양의 관계를 보이는 변수는 TWI, SRI, 물, 전, 답, 개발지, 나대지이며, 음의 관계를 보이는 경관특성변수는 경사, 표고, 그리고 모든 연료 유형 변수들이었다. 특히 TWI은 r=0.437로 경계형성과 강한 양의 관계를 보였다. 따라서 산불 피해지의 경계는 산림과 이질적인 토지피복 혹은 토지이용이 존재하는 경우와 경사가 완만하고 표고는 낮으며, 토양 및 지표면의 상대습도가 높은 지형에서 형성될 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

Characterisation of Ramie Yarn Treated with Sodium Hydroxide and Crosslinked by 1,2,3,4-Butanetetracarboxylic Acid

  • The microstructure and tensile properties of ramie treated with NaOH and crosslinked with 1, 2, 3, 4-butanetetracarboxylic acid were characterised. X-ray diffraction and FTIR were used to study the crystalline structure o f the resultant ramie yarns. Results showed that the maximum change in the structure of the modified ramie took place at 16% NaOH, which would completely transform Cellulose I to Cellulose II. Also, the crystallinity index and fibre orientation decreased to the minimum value while the absorption properties were enhanced. The average degree of polymerization of the treated ramie yams slightly decreased after NaOH treatment.

양측 전대뇌동맥영역 뇌경색 환자의 증례보고 (Case Report of Both Anterior Cerebral Artery Territory Infarction)

  • It was aimed to report a case of both anterior cerebral artery territory infarction patient improved by korean medical treatment. The patient was diagnosed by brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography(MRA). The symptoms were quadriplegia, urinary frequency, urinary incontinence and abulia. I applied herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, pharmacopuncture, cupping and physical exercise therapy. As a result of them, the symptoms of the patient were improved considerably. Status of the patient was evaluated by manaul muscle test(MMT), modified barthel index(MBI) and functional independence measure(FIM) and medical interview. MBI score was changed from 35 to 95 and FIM score was changed from 66 to 115. Therefore this report suggests that korean medical treatment could be effective to the anterior cerebral artery territory infarction.
