  • The traditional area-based matching or efficient matching methods using epipolar geometry and height restriction of stereo images, which have a confined search space for image matching, have still some disadvantages such as mismatching and timeconsuming, especially in the dense metropolitan city that very high and similar buildings exist. To solve these problems, a new image matching method through building recognition has been presented. This paper described building recognition in color stereo images using edge and color information as a elementary study of new matching scheme. We introduce the modified Hausdorff distance for using edge information, and the modified color indexing with 3-D RGB histogram for using color information. Color information or edge information alone is not enough to find conjugate building pairs. For edge information only, building recognition rate shows 46.5%, for color information only, 7.1%. However, building recognition rate distinctly increase 78.5% when both information are combined.

  • The video similarity measure is very important factor to index and to retrieve for video data. In this paper, we propose the luminance projection model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient measure using the luminance projection. To index effectively the video sequences and to decrease the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm.

  • The classification error of 'ㅁ', 'ㅇ' is one of the main causes of incorrect recognition in Korean characters, but there haven't been enough researches to solve this problem. In this paper, a new feature extraction method from Korean grapheme is proposed to recognize 'ㅁ', 'ㅇ'effectively. First, we defined an optimal neighbor-distance selection measure using modified Hausdorff distance, which we determined the optimal neighbor-distance by. And we extracted neighbor-angle feature which was used as the effective feature to classify the two graphemes 'ㅁ', 'ㅇ'. Experimental results show that the proposed feature extraction method worked efficiently with the small number of features and could recognize the untrained patterns better than the conventional methods. It proves that the proposed method has a generality and stability for pattern recognition.

  • A number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been proposed to manage large video databases efficiently. The video similarity measure is one of most important technical factor for video content management system. In this paper, we propose the luminance characteristics model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient similarity measure using the luminance projection. To index the video sequences effectively and to reduce the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable improved accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm such as the histogram comparison method, with the low computational complexity.

  • In this paper, we propose the method Model based Non-Rigid Moving Object Tracking. Motion based method becomes difficult to predict precisely when motion gets larger, so that we can solve such difficultly with regarding the moving object as a model. In the model based method, it should be concerned about setting initial model and updating its model in each frame. We used SNAKE in a way to set the initial model, and also proposed a modified SNAKE to handle the previous SNAKE problems. Moreover, with the elliptical setting, we made the initializing process automatically which is highly subject to change in measuring the performance of SNAKE. We used the Hausdorff distance to identify models in each frame. Through our experiments, our Proposed algorithm does effective work in Non-Rigid Moving Object Tracking.

  • According tothe development of digital media technologies various algorithms for video sequence matching have been proposed to match the video sequences efficiently. A large number of video sequence matching methods have focused on frame-wise query, whereas a relatively few algorithms have been presented for video sequence matching or video shot matching. In this paper, we propose an efficientalgorithm to index the video sequences and to retrieve the sequences for video sequence query. To improve the accuracy and performance of video sequence matching, we employ the Cauchy function as a similarity measure between histograms of consecutive frames, which yields a high performance compared with conventional measures. The key frames extracted from segmented video shots can be used not only for video shot clustering but also for video sequence matching or browsing, where the key frame is defined by the frame that is significantly different from the previous fames. Several key frame extraction algorithms have been proposed, in which similar methods used for shot boundary detection were employed with proper similarity measures. In this paper, we propose the efficient algorithm to extract key frames using the cumulative Cauchy function measure and. compare its performance with that of conventional algorithms. Video sequence matching can be performed by evaluating the similarity between data sets of key frames. To improve the matching efficiency with the set of extracted key frames we employ the Cauchy function and the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results with several color video sequences show that the proposed method yields the high matching performance and accuracy with a low computational load compared with conventional algorithms.
