This paper is the study of literary modernism school(新感覺派 xinganjuepai), appeared in the early 20th century in China and Japan. This literary modernism, developed in Japan in the 1920s, was developed in China after 10 years in the 1930s. Chinese literary modernism was influenced by the Japanese school. However, the following occurs the difference in modernism caused by background of the two countries. Japanese school of literary modernism was formed by a backlash against the proletarian literature. The rivalry between Japanese proletarian literature and literary modernism occurred in 1920's. Literary modernism in China occurred in the course of the development of the proletarian literature, as part. In addition, China's literary writers of modernism have expressed their support proletarian literature for the position. This difference between the two countries can be caused by the difference of historical background (imperial and colonial) in early 20th century.

This study has outlined and summarized academic meaning of formative characteristics of Organic Modernism represented by various aspects of design, art, industry and architecture, then has intented to define concept of Organic Modernism Fashion. Eventually, this study is to make a analysis of formative characteristics of Organic Modernism Fashion Design. Based on example of Organic Modernism applied to architectural structure, industrial products and pure paintings, this study has analyzed and researched into formative characteristics of Organic Modernism represented by fashion design. As a consequence of study, its characteristics are defined as below; The first, the beauty of simple formation using delicate curve. The second, the expression of symbolic formation based on surrealism. The third, the expression of continuous 3-dimensional curved surface. And the last characteristic is a providing transformable multi-function. Through those characteristics mentioned above, it may be expected to define a concept of Organic Modernism Fashion Design newly and to set a precedent for providing a basic criteria to classify formative characteristics of Organic Modernism Fashion Design.

The purpose of this study is research on the characteristics of post-modernism expressed on western hair styles in the late 20th century. Therefore this thesis analyzed the relationship of modernism & the hair styles of that mage and post-modernism & the hair styles of that mage. That will re-illuminate the same beauty worth of same age as to accurate the concept of post-modernism & the hair styles of that mage. And the last, criticizing the post-modernism design and that hair design, helping to find new trends. The method of this study was the literature research & analysis of visual materials focus on upper bust image that can know the relationship of modernism & the hair styles of that mage, and post-modernism & the hair styles of that mage. First, the literature research is composed of analysis of theses, magazines on art, clothing and cosmetology having the contents of 20th century western culture, art and hair styles. Second, the analysis of visual materials is composed of analysis of video films, slide films and photographs of books, magazines, and internet home-pages. Modern western hair styles, appeared after 1910's, is represented as a short cut & permanent wave. That express experimentalism, functionalism, and purism, that is same as the other art's trend of same age. Post-modern western hair styles, appeared after 1960's, also show the same trend with same age's. This summarized & characterized 8 categories; historical method, pluralism, negotiation, escape from the formality, recovery of humanity, ornament, connection with race, metaphor & symbolism. But post-modernism concentrating pluralism makes easy making low quality art and absence of criticism, so this thesis criticised it 5 categories; absence of ideas, absence of the social sense of responsibility, lost of one's characteristics, decline of skills, decline of worth of usages.

The Purpose of this study is to comprehend the form of Post-modernism in 1980~90 Fashion by comparing to the representative form of Modernism. For empirical data, photographs and critics about fashion were collected from Vogue fashion magazine to differentiate from other studies which is mostly analysed from collection. The results are as follows: The Modernism in fashion can be epitomized simple and functional form as a rational costume and Post-modern fashion expresses all sorts of emotion as a react of rational theme of modernism with manners of anti-formal pluralism such as pastiche, parody and Kitsch. The fashion in 1980-90s in Vogue expressed as follow :1) The Postmodernism is well exploited around 1990 and costrained by traditional and classical Mode. 2) The other main character of Postmodernism, romantic eroticism is broadly expressed with material and slim curved body conscious line. 3) The Modernism and Postmodernism coexisted in the end of 1990, in more matured format.

With improvements in science and technology, independent game which through individuals or small groups development mode has become one of new art creation. In these constantly emerging works, there are contents include trend of modernism thought. In this article, independent game < The Binding of Isaac > is used as an example, by analyzing that game's script, art style and animation sequence, and comparing with westward modernism literature, modernism art and modernism movie's characteristics and manifestation, we try to find how modernism thought influences the independent game design, and conclude modernism game's characteristics. Through those deep influences, we prove that the progress of productivity can also stimulate mass culture to develop in a certain extent.

Modernism in architecture is a very complex and contradictory phenomena. So much so that it has been defined in various ways throughout the history, depending on one's position in the cultural and historical circumstances. It is thus necessary to map out the various concepts of modernism and their relationships in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of modern architecture. This paper attempts to define the various positions as functionalism, formalism and artistic avant-gardism, and to trace their history from the early twentieth century to the present. The change of the concept of modernism from functionalism to artistic avant-gardism seems a logical process in the history of western modem culture. The tendency of contemporary architecture to be more abstract and self referential artistic practice reflects the fragmentation of modern culture and the separation of art and technology. The validity of this position, of course, depends on how one evaluates the role of modern art in the situation of modern culture. It could be viewed either negatively or positively. However, this position is problematic in that it disregards the fundamental differences between architecture and other arts and distanced architecture farther from its material base. Given this historical perspective on the concept of modernism, modernism in Korea should not viewed simply identical to the western modernism, nor should western modernism be imported uncritically. The characteristics of her modernization and their differences from the west should be considered, along with the different status and role of architecture in korean modern society.

This study set out to figure out the tendencies of the staff members participating in the space design of Blade Runner and compare and analyze its set and location characteristics with its narrative based on Gilles Deleuze' Simulacrum, one of the basic theories of Post modernism, thus identifying the characteristics of postmodern space inherent in it. The findings were as follows: first, the spaces in a Late modernism tendency in Blade Runner seem to have been created by the cinematic imagination of Syd Mead and Douglas Trumbull rather than being influenced by the old Late modernism architecture. Second, the postmodern spaces of the movie were designed to depict a more realistic future by reinforcing the old ornamental elements or adding the mechanical aesthetics of Late modernism based on a prediction of future cities. Third, the characters representing Late modernism and Post modernism in the narrative of the movie embrace the tendencies of the parties objected by Model and Simulacrum in the scenes where they deny the tendencies of the spaces to which they belong, thus exhibiting a dual trend. Fourth, the dual narrative of Model and Simulacrum holds duality even in the space and architecture of the movie, which is the reason why the movie chose postmodern spaces reflecting historical contexts instead of inner spaces in the tendency of minimalism, which was in vogue when SF movies were made those days. Finally, the spaces of the movie can be categorized according to the Late modernism and Post modernism tendencies from the perspective of the 1980s and be understood to show the architecture and space of future Post modernism feasible through the layering of historicity, locality, and mechanical aesthetics from ancient Maya to a future city in Los Angeles, the background of the movie, from the perspective of 2019.

This study examined the characteristics of furniture design in the early Modernism that occurred in the early 20th Century through the relationship with modern arts. The furniture design of the early Modernism was established in the early 20th Century based on the simplicity and honesty of the Art and Crafts Movement and Anti-Historicism in Art Nouveau. During this period, the necessity of mass production became critical due to the radical industrialization and new social demands. In such periodic stream, the furniture design of the early modernism pursued simplicity and geometric beauty based on functionalism. The efforts to discover the fundamental structure of furniture were intensified. It was not limited to furniture design but was also exercised in the huge periodic transformation that progressed in every field of art including architecture. The Modernism art has also been connected to Cubism and spread into an abstract direction. While questioning the potential essence and progressing the study on genuine characteristics, the Modernism art tried to return things into their substantial looks and reorganize them conceptually, rather than reproducing external objects. The furniture that was secondary to a part of architecture and interior accessory transcended its decorative purpose. It pursued the structure to follow its fundamental purpose as furniture. Such tendency corresponded to the direction that Post-Modernism followed. Likewise, both art and design had the revivable and abstract characteristics based on the identical objective in ideology. For this reason, the formative and geometric characteristics of the early modernism furniture design have a mutual relationship with modern arts. Particularly, such tendency intensified and progressed through the Bauhaus in Germany. Based on such facts, this study proved that the early Modernism furniture design in the 20th Century tended to appear in common arts including the art and design according to the social demand of the huge periodic stream. Furthermore, the ideology that was adopted in art and design, as well as its formative characteristics, was examined through the mutual relationship of modern arts and design.

This study is on relations between minimalism, which is one of important theme in the contemporary design, and East-oriented speculatiov. Minimalism, one inclination of neo-modernism is characterized by Essentialism. That is connected with East-oriented thinking, especially Taoism. The paradigm of contradiction and paradox replaces the paradigm of rationality and the law of cause and effect. Minimal tendency is appeared at Modernism in 60's and Neo-modernism in 90's. The differences are originated with their manner on simplicity. Minimal tendency in Modernism is characterized by 'less is more' and that in Meo-modernism is by 'more with less'. The minimizing strategy is not considered as means as in modern age but as purpose in neo-modern age. This paper explains minimal architectural space as spatial problem and recognitions on that, not as the figurative problem. Conclusively the relationships between minimalism and eastern ideas are represented through the boundary and extensity of space, void and solid, de-formalization and Essentialism.

The sentiments of the Post-Modernism in expressing eroticism give people masochistic or sadistic feelings or expressions by means of protographic technigues or the state or background of wearing the model's costume. Thirdly, Homosexual Expression. The sentiments of the Post-Modernism is appropriate to expressing an androgynous and unisex look to people as a role of meeting potential instincts. Fourthy, Feministic Expression. The sentiments of me Post-Modernism also express a subjective woman and represent an extension of her ego through the existence of the woman herself by means of the body-conscious look. Fifthly, Narcissistic Expression. The de-genre such as the introduction high technology and de-campus rnakes consumers have theirself-identity.
