Modern architecture does a role in terms of connecting traditional and current architecture. In the same time, Which is important part of korean architecture history because of introduction of western architecture. Accordingly, At this meaninglessly going out and leaving of modern architecture, the purpose of this study is systematic researching of the modern Government Office interior. I progressed this study to research into the period context at construction of the modern Government Office and tendency of architecture and interior at that time. And then understand interior space organization of it. The early modern Government Office adopted Neo-Baroque style from tendency of that time. Also, showed composite order which is mixed in the Greek temple, the Renaissance and the classic style representing the power. But, after late 1920 It adopted Modern Style. This characteristic is different from current composit order, which is comprehended by our. In order to understand aesthetic value of current straight interior space, It have to be interacted the present and past. But It's averted because it was made in the period of Japanese imperialism. Therefore, We should explore history of interior design that is endowed with sociality and historicity between modern and future interior space as well as current.

Modern architecture after enlightenment period of Korea has been defamed indifferently before preparing devices for preservation. Many modern architecture has been underestimated by the feeling of being cultural victimized for Japan and economic logic. Other advanced countries make laws for their historic heritage with a concept for past-present-future. Also they re-create their cultural heritage to help their local economic. As the Registration System is established at july 2001, we have to find organic, positive interior space utilization methods about modern architecture. Modern architecture is private property in real using but it has historic trace. Therefore, modern architecture can be affirmative social property because it is a base of historic, cultural circumstances for local identity. The purpose of this study is to construct preservation and utilization methods of interior space for modern architecture.

The goal of this paper is to explore the relationship between modern architecture and interior decoration through the study of decoration and ornament. It is noteworthy that modern architecture and interior decoration occurred at about the same time. Our analysis shows that the two are closely related to each other. That is to say, modern architecture tried to eliminate ornaments (and decorations), symbols and meanings from the built environments and to embody efficiency and rationality instead. However, in the interior of the building designed and completed by the architect, the user began to decorate his world through decoration or to refer such work to the new expert 'interior decorator'. In a word, the latter took charge of the role deserted by modern architecture.

The early post-war modern architecture introduced to Korea in the 60's and 70's have reached its 50 year cycle to emerge as candidates for the registered heritage. However, conservation is a complicated topic when applied to modern architecture due to its social and political status among general public, and is often a sacrificial target for demolition or insensitive alteration. This research tries to identify significant values extracted from the intrinsic characteristics of modern architecture, that can be applied to conducting successful renovation projects on modern architecture. The conservational values of modern architecture to be maintained are identified in this paper as: flexible open space, material and structural system, and extension of interior-exterior relation. These values are examined through the filter of comparative analysis on domestic and international conservation standards, along with cross-examination on recently renovated local works performed on the modern architecture of the period. This research aims to bring focus on conducting respectful conservation and renovation to modern architecture by identifying the significant values that is intrinsic to the modern architecture and is worth preserving.

The vocabulary of modern grand hotels' interior designs reflects western design patterns, showing its nostalgia for modern architecture. And it also contains the trace of past designs implanted by others then, expressing the hardships of Korean history. Like this, the past architectural style distorted under the Japanese imperialistic rule has continued to exist until now without any significant changes, because there has been little effort to figure out the history of modern interior designs. And also there has been the lack of data and aesthetic descriptions about the modern interior designs that contain the historical nature of society. Therefore, this study will review the interior design of modern buildings, which trace back to the fawning of the Korean Interior Design. And it aims to understand the hotel interior's expressive characteristics and historical meanings by paying a particular attention to its lost parts. And it also alms to have a significant meaning in taking the first step toward a clue of the history of Korean modern interiors by systematically putting in order the ever-disappearing materials of modern hotel interiors.

Modem society has been complicated and diverse, and then various paradigms coexist. We can see Postmodernism moving in the flows of modern architecture. Therefore looming large is the Fold architecture that can surmount the limit of design in Postmodernism and Deconstruction and suits to the modern culture as an architectural alternative. So I believe this research can make us perceive the streams of modern interior space by considering the features and meanings of Fold conception which has been noticeable in the overall architecture and culture since the middle of 1990's with analyzing and defining atypical organic Fold characteristics appearing in modern interior since 2000, and also predict the next changing direction.

The purpose of this thesis is to study on the source, the introductive process and the phenomenon of the regional tendency into Korean modern interior design. To achieve the purpose of this study, the methods and contents are as follows : 1. Explaining the regionalism in the architecture as the source of the regional tendency. 2. Explaining the introductive process of the regional tendency in Korean modern interior design.. For that, 1)Explaining the traditional expression, the leo-corbusian expression and the organic expression with nature in Korean contemporary architecture 2)Explaining the vernacular expression and the abstract expression in Korean modern art 3. Studying the regional tendency in Korean modern interior design For that, 1)Studying the expression of Korean traditionality 2)Studying the expression of the vernacular 3)Studying the expression of the environmental affinity By theme methods and contents, we will study the introduction of the regional tendency into Korean modern interior design.

As people abroad have been much interested in the usage of modern architecture from the early days, many researches about various methods of using them have been progressed. In Korea, with the need to protect the modern architecture through active usage of them in the dimension of protecting the disappearing history, at present, many modern architectures were renovated and used. This research is to find out the sense of direction about the changes of design of the renovated modern architectures in Korea by analyzing the design changes after the renovations in Korea and abroad. Under the limitation of the modern architecture renovation case in Korea, Japan and China, the changes of design after the modern architecture renovation in Korea and aborad were analyzed by the analysis of the ways of remodelling for each case according to the case analyzing frame. Based on the reasons of renovations which had purpose of preserving social history with many other various reasons in common in both cases of Korean modern architecture remodelling and abroad, the common direction of design is to meet new with old to preserve the special image though they did it in different ways. However, different from the case of Japan and China which are coexisting present and past in space, Korean case focused too much on outside, which resulted in only outside designs. In the case of Korea, the past should have mutual understanding to have the firm space image by forming unique interior space culture through the architectural grafting the present in the past not only in the outside space but also in the indoor space. In another words, for the various changes of design in Korean modern architecture renovations, a systematic research should be done about the interior spaces of present architecture and modern architecture.
