우리나라에는 전국적으로 70여개 대학에 통계학과가 설치되어 있다. 매년 이들 통계학과에는 40명 내지 80명씩의 학생들이 입학한다. 그러므로 많은 통계학과 출신이 매년 사회에 진출하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그런데도 통계학으로 사회에 봉사할 수 있는 기회를 제공하거나 통계전문가를 통계적 문제해결을 위하여 채용하겠다는 곳은 별로 없는 것이 사실이다. 이것은 통계학 교수는 있으되 통계학과 출신의 일할 곳이 없다는 것을 나타내고 있는 것이다. 대학원에서 통계학으로 학위를 취득해도 사정은 마찬가지이다. 통계학 교수직을 제외하고는 통계학자나 통계전문가가 일할 자리가 없다는 것이 우리의 실정인 것이다. 그렇다면 과연 통계학과가 사회에서 원하는 존재가치가 있는 학과인가\ulcorner 통계학과는 통계학자에게 교수직과 연구의 장소를 제공하여 주기 위해서만 존재하는 것인가\ulcorner 이것은 통계학과 소속의 교수 누구나가 다같이 숙고하고 논의하여 해결책을 강구해야 할 중대한 문제라고 생각한다. 이 논문은 이러한 문제에 대하여 논의한 것이다.

현대 의학이 나날이 발전해 가는데 따라 관련 연구들도 활발히 진행되고 있다. 연구자가 원하는 연구의 결과를 얻기 위해서는 연구 설계, 연구 진행과 결과 분석까지 객관적이며 합리적인 방법으로 행해져야 할 것이다. 이를 위해 통계적 분석 방법이 다양하고 널리 사용 되고 있다. 본 논문은 현재 발행되고 있는 여러 의학 학술지중 네 개의 학회지를 대상으로 2004년부터 2007년까지 출판된 의학 논문에서 통계적 기법의 사용에 대해 조사하여 의학 연구에서 어떻게 적용되고 있는지 살펴보고자 한다.

The Study of Hansun(Traditional Fishing Boat of Korea) is based on Fishing Bost Investigation Report which began in 1921. The Report was completed in 1927 with the conclusion of Southern sea Region and Western sea Region studies which included the investigation of the entire region. Based on this report, this paper surveys Hansun's characteristics style of boat and performance. The First couple of chapters are possibility of combining type of Hansun and modern Sailing Boat. As a result we find out that the hull form of Hansun is very similar with that of modern sailing boats and is a good candidate for the mother ship to develop the modern sailing boats for Korean sea.

The re-unification of the two Koreas is seen as a potential solution to the aging problem and low fertility, along with the increase in the old population structure of the Republic of Korea. Population structure is an indicator of national competitiveness or growth, but little is known officially about the populations of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Understanding the population structure of the DPRK is important to prepare for re-unification and estimate the socio-economic costs of national welfare under a re-unified Korea. In this paper, we assess reliability of the two modern national censuses of DPRK and use the limited resources available to reconstruct the intercensal populations between these two censuses. Excess deaths from the 1995 famine are estimated at 489,972 to 574,306 and are close to the estimates of Goodkind et al. (2011) and the reconstructed populations in the of DPRK implies a big difference between two Koreas.

Two regression models for explaining the tire performances (especially conering coefficients) by tire design and experimental factors are built. One is the ordinary regression model, and the explaining variables in the model are selected by a stepwise method. The other model is built by a modern nonparametric regression technique, called projection pursuit regression. Then two models are compared and combined, so that the relationship between the tire performances and design factors are well figured out. The optimal experimental design issue and future research ideas are also discussed.

Credit scoring is an objective and automatic system to assess the credit risk of each customer. The logistic regression model is one of the popular methods of credit scoring to predict the default probability; however, it may not detect possible nonlinear features of predictors despite the advantages of interpretability and low computation cost. In this paper, we propose to use a generalized partially linear model as an alternative to logistic regression. We also introduce modern ensemble technologies such as bagging, boosting and random forests. We compare these methods via a simulation study and illustrate them through a German credit dataset.

The stress is an unavoidable result and a complex phenomenon in modern society. too, Human activity changes under control of the stress. The stress is a reaction to adrenalin or other stress hormones. It provides the power for fighting and the energy for going away from dangers. Because of the stress, our bodies increase the pulse, the blood pressure and the breath for more blood and more oxygen. So, in this research, we are measuring those which was increased by the stress. Also we will examine the change of HRV and APG on music. After that, in order to reduce the stress, we will design matching system that is based on the sense for music by using Zigbee.

과학 기술의 발전은 사회를 급격하게 변화시켜 왔다. 특허 자료 분석은 현대 과학 기술의 흐름을 이해하고 미래 유망기술을 예측할 수 있게 한다. 본 연구에서는 기술의 동향을 파악하고자 1985년과 2012년 사이에 미국 특허청에 등록된 특허를 중심으로 특허 인용 네트워크를 분석한다. 주요 기술군을 파악하기 위해 PageRank 알고리즘 외에 다양한 중심성 지표를 이용하고, 통계적 네트워크 모형을 통해 유사한 기술들의 군집을 찾아내고자 한다.

Modern people live in the age of plastics. It has been widely used due to its easy molding processing, mass production, and excellent durability. However, over-produced plastics for convenience cause plastic disasters and adversely affect the ecosystem. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the use of single-use plastic waste due to the use of delivery services has increased. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a plastic pandemic. Currently, domestic recycling policies depend only on recycling collection companies and market prices of recyclable resources. This paper confirms whether the outbreak of COVID-19 has affected the price of plastic waste. It also shows that the price of plastic waste is more unstable than metals with a high recycling rate. This urges businesses to share the cost of recycling on plastic waste, no longer being dependent on market prices for recyclable resources.
