Purpose - The purpose of this study is to explore the impacts of Korean executives' trust on a firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and corporate financial performance (CFP), which depends on their individual social responsibility (ISR). Design/methodology/approach - A survey was conducted, and 273 Korean executives were recruited. I used SPSS version 25.0, AMOS version 26.0, SmartPLS version 3.2., and PROCESS Macro 3.4. to analyze the moderated mediation model. And, the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was employed to confirm the proposed relationships in the model. Findings - The results show that Korean executives' trust is positively related to CSR. I also found that Korean executives' trust is positively related to CFP. Moreover, I found that there is a mediating effect of a firm's CSR activities on the trust-CFP relationship. However, I didn't find conditional indirect and direct effects on the relationships among the proposed constructs. The findings overall suggest that Korean executives' trust is such an important mechanism that will affect firm-level CSR and CFP. Research implications or Originality - Although prior studies reveal that executives' trust in their subordinates positively influences cooperation, creativity, and innovation among subordinates in a team, it is still unclear whether executives' trust in their employees or strangers impacts firm-level CSR and CFP. Moreover, not many studies examined the mediating effect of CSR on executives' trust and CFP especially in the Korean context. Therefore, this study intends to fill the knowledge gap by focusing on South Korea. This study also contributes to extant CSR and trust literature, and practically contributes to executives, policy makers, and practitioners in South Korea.
This study analyzed the model by using the data of 416 counselors working in the counseling field to verify the moderated mediation effect of burnout on life satisfaction, through counselors' self-care in the process of counselors' stress. First, counselors' stress had an effect on life satisfaction through burnout. Second, the interaction effect between counselors' stress and self-care was significant and the relationship between stress and burnout was changed according to the level of self-care. Third, counselors' stress was found to be controlled by self-care, which has a mediating effect on life satisfaction through burnout. The results of this study are meaningful in that it provides an empirical basis for self-care factors that can contribute to the improvement of the counselor's personal and professional growth and quality of life through the verification of the effect of self-care that improves the satisfaction of life by preventing and alleviating the stress and burnout of the counselors.
This study examined the effects of perceived discrimination on multicultural adolescents regarding feelings of conflict over their ethnic identity by investigating the moderating role of father-child open communication and mother-child open communication mediated by bicultural competence. A total of 234 middle school students (grades 7-8; 139 girls and 95 boys) from multicultural families, from which the father is Korean and the mother is not, participated in the study. Data was collected through an online self-report questionnaire and was analyzed via SPSS 26.0 and Process (Version 4.1) MACRO. The results can be summarized as follows. First, bicultural competence mediated the effects of perceived discrimination on feelings of conflict over one's ethnic identity. Enhanced bicultural competence resulting from a lower perception of discrimination contributed to a reduction in feelings of conflict over one's ethnic identity. Second, the moderated mediation effect of fatherchild open communication was significant, while the effect of mother-child open communication was not. Thus, the mediation relationship (lower perceived discrimination increased bicultural competence and, thus, reduced conflict over one's ethnic identity) grew stronger as the level of father-child open communication increased. The significance of this study lies in uncovering the causal relationships between individual and environmental factors that contribute to ethnic identity development among multicultural adolescents, particularly highlighting the important role of Korean fathers within multicultural households.
This study aimed to check the role of SNS upward comparison and SNS usage motivation in the effect of contingent self-esteem on inferiority feelings by verifying the link between each variable in young adults. Depending on passed studies, a study model for the relationship of each variable was founded and the moderated mediation effect was checked. We performed a survey on 400 young adults using SNS through an online survey, and finally, a total of 351 data were employed for analysis. The outcome of the analysis was as follows. First, contingent self-esteem, SNS upward comparison, SNS usage motivation, and inferiority feelings were all affirmed to reveal a positive correlation. Second, contingent self-esteem had an important impact on inferiority feelings, which was mediated by SNS upward comparison. Third, the relationship between SNS upward comparison and inferiority feelings was moderated by SNS usage motivation. Finally, SNS usage motivation moderated the indirect effect of contingent self-esteem on inferiority feelings via SNS upward comparison. Based on the results of this study, we presented the psychological and emotional implications that can experience the inferiority feelings in young adults.
The change in labor consciousness began to draw social attention to work-life balance (WLB). The WLB is one of the major factors affecting the health and safety problems of workers. Although shiftwork adversely affects WLB, safety, and health problems of workers, WLB of shift workers has received little empirical attention. The purpose of this study was to examine whether WLB mediates the relationship between shiftwork and shift worker's safety and health problems, participation in leisure activities moderates WLB, and finally, whether WLB moderated by participation in leisure activities mediates the relationship between shift work and shift worker's safety and health problems. For the study, the data of the 5th wave of Korean Working Condition Survey(KWCS) conducted by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency(KOSHA) of South Korea was used. Conditional process analysis revealed that the relationship between shift work and worker's safety and health problems is mediated by WLB; however, participation in leisure activity showed no moderation effect on WLB. Therefore, the moderated mediation effect has failed to achieve statistical significance. The results indicate that working environment improvement in consideration of the WLB is needed to gain shift worker's long-term safety and health. The implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

This study investigates the effects of the interplay of device types and the need for touch (NFT) on product attitudes and determines how the mental simulation of touch mediates such relationships. Specifically, we test the roles of instrumental and autotelic NFT in the moderated mediation effect of mental simulation of touch. We instructed the potential participants to shop for a leather jacket on a webpage. With a total of 152 data points from the responses of participants who used a laptop and a touch device that uses a direct-touch interface (e.g., tablets), we conducted descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and PROCESS procedures using SPSS 20.0. The results show a greater mental simulation for touch when using a touch device than a laptop. When individuals' instrumental NFT is low, using a touch device while shopping online heightens mental simulation of touch, which impacts product attitudes. In particular, such a moderated mediation effect strengthens as the value of individuals' autotelic NFT increases. However, when individuals' instrumental NFT is high, a touch device cannot drive mental simulation for touch, increasing favorable attitudes toward the product.
Purpose - The present study examines the effect of service employees' experienced customer incivility through their emotional exhaustion. We identified service employees' emotion regulation ability as a boundary condition (i.e., moderating variable) that decreased the positive relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, we also investigated the negative relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their service performance via emotional exhaustion. Research design, data, and methodology - Drawing on AET (affective event theory) and COR (conservation of resources) theory, we developed three research hypotheses (i.e., mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation). Online panel survey data from 552 frontline employees at several service organizations (e.g., department stores, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, airlines, banking, insurance company, and etc) in South Korea were examined. To assess two types of validity (i.e., convergent and discriminant validity) and reliability of measurement model, we employed the CFA (confirmatory factor analysis) using M-plus 8.2 software. Internal consistency also was tested by Cronbach' α. In addition, we employed the SPSS PROCESS MACRO 2.16, which was recommended by Hayes (2013, 2015), to estimate mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation effects. Results - As predicted, the negative relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and their service performance was mediated by emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, service employees' emotion regulation ability also played a significant moderating role of the relationship between service employees' experienced customer incivility and emotional exhaustion, such that this relationship was less pronounced when service employees had a high level of their emotion regulation ability than when thir emotion regulation ability was low. Service employees' emotion regulation ability further moderated this mediation effect of service employees' experienced customer incivility on service performance through emotional exhaustion. These findings have theoretical implications for employees' experienced customer incivility and emotion regulation ability research and provide managerial implications for practitioners. Conclusions - This study empirically elaborated the previous model of service employees' experienced customer incivility and personal resource (e.g., emotion regulation ability) literature by presenting the findings that service employees' experienced customer incivility influences their service performance via emotional exhaustion and that emotion regulation ability effectively reduces this negative effect.

In the relationship between the shareholding ratio of National Pension Service (NPS) and the investee firm's value, this study examined the mediating effect of R&D expenditure which its increase can indirectly induce the increase of firm value, and examined the moderated mediation effect of the Stewardship Code implementation which pressures investee firms' to increase R&D expenditure and firm value. Using the Korean listed companies' data from 2016 to 2021, the analysis showed that the R&D expenditure had a partial mediation effect on the relationship between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value. Also, the analysis showed that the NPS's Stewardship Code implementation had positive moderating effects on following relationships, one between NPS's shareholding ratio and R&D expenditure, and the other between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value. In all, on the relationship between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value, the R&D expenditure's mediation effect differs before and after the implementation of the stewardship code, which shows the moderated mediation effect.
This study aims to examine the impacts of service quality (SQ) on consumer-brand relationship quality (BRQ), the mediation effects of brand trust (BT) in those relationships and the moderated mediation effects of BT by the level of perceived product quality (PQ). A 376 valid sample was obtained from the consumers who have visited the service centers of automotive brands. The findings demonstrate the direct effects of SQ of the service centers in automotive brands on BRQ are not significant, while the mediation effects of BT between SQ and BRQ are significant. Moreover, the findings reveal that the mediation effects of BT in the lower perception group of PQ are stronger than those in the higher group. Based on these findings, not only the necessary roles of a service center to improve BRQ but also the transferring process from service centers' SQ to building a strong brand are discussed.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of regulatory focus on proactive behavior and to examine the mediating effect of work hope between superior's regulatory focus and subordinate's proactive behavior. In addition, the purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of interpersonal justice between regulatory focus and work hope, and the moderated mediating effect of work hope and interpersonal justice in the relationship between regulatory focus and proactive behavior. Design/methodology/approach - This study used data 255pairs(510people) collected from Public organizations such as gu office and private organizations that perform various tasks such as human resources, finance, accounting, marketing, and R&D. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and the multiple regression analysis were used in order to analyze the data. Findings - The result showed that promotion focus was positively related to proactive behavior. In addition, this study found that the relationship between promotion focus and proactive behavior was mediated by work hope. Regarding the moderating roles of perceived interpersonal justice, the results showed that perceived interpersonal justice significantly interacted with promotion focus in influencing work hope. Finally, the moderated mediation analysis showed that the indirect effect of promotion focus on proactive behavior through work hope was valid only for subordinates with high perceived interpersonal justice. Research implications or Originality - In order to increase proactive behavior, it is necessary to focus on promotion focus and to increase the positive psychology such as hope. In addition, it is necessary to increase perception of interpersonal justice.
