  • As a central part in smart construction, BIM has been rapidly spread in construction industry at large. However, the level of applying BIM in construction stage is still relatively lower than that in design stage due to unclear application method, inadequate design BIM model, technical faults of BIM itself, etc. Under these circumstances, public owners inevitably need to adjust the scope and pace in BIM application considering their internal support and capabilities of contractors. This study aims to suggest major BIM-applicable tasks during construction stage in the process of establishing gradual long-term and short-term introduction strategy for public apartment housing projects. Those major tasks were identified with the combination of the importance of tasks and the future benefits of BIM using IPA method. To do so, the degrees of contribution to achieving objectives in construction, current task execution, and communication requirement were investigated by internal site managers. On the other hand, the expected benefits and current level of using BIM were assessed by BIM experts. Among operational tasks by phases, design review, construction plan review, making as-built drawing, etc. were categorized as major tasks. In addition, progress control, regular meeting, master schedule development, work inspection, on-site quality check, etc. were also drawn as major tasks by management areas. The results of this study will provide the useful reference for owners concerned about the introduction of new technologies.

  • Recently the interest about the vortex intakes are rapidly increased because of its performance to drain a plenty of collected storm water at a time. The tangential intake a kind of vortex intakes is very applicable because this type is very simple and little against other types, but it has a big weakness that the vortex flow is not been rarely created below the design discharge. In this study, the characteristics of a tangential intake and two kinds of a newly suggested compound section type intake are analyzed by the 3D numerical modeling based on theories about the control shift and free drainage condition. The analysis focused on the flow condition, flow surface formation, depth-discharge relation, area ratio of air core. Based on this study, the mild-sloped compound section type intake is the optimal, but steep-sloped compound section type is also the optional for the small design discharge.

  • In this paper, the preliminary design procedure of magnetorheological (MR) dampers is developed for controlling the building response induced by seismic excitation. The dynamic characteristics and control effects of the modeling methods of MR dampers such as Bingham, biviscous, hysteretic biviscous, simple Bouc?Wen, Bouc?Wen with mass element, and phenomenological models are investigated. Of these models, hysteretic biviscous model which is simple and capable describing the hysteretic characteristics, is used for numerical studies. The capacity of MR damper is determined as a portion of not the building weight but the lateral restoring force. A method is proposed for optimal placement and number of MR dampers, and its effectiveness is verified by comparing it with the simplified sequential search algorithm. Numerical results indicate that the capacity, number and the placement can be reasonably determined using the proposed design procedure.

  • Apartment housing has rapidly increased since the housing supply policy implemented in the late 1980s. However, various defects have occurred because the policy focused only on quantity supply, while neglected quality control. In addition, disputes related to various defects are increasing. ; accordingly, studies defects of apartment houses have been continuously conducted to solve various problems. In this study, I analyzed the research trends regarding long-term accumulated defects of apartment buildings by keyword network analysis, and suggest implications. As ananalysis method, I collected journal articles using the portal of the Korea Educational and Scientific Information Agency and constructed data analysis by filtering collected academic papers and keyword refinement. Ialso performed visualization modeling for keyword network relationships, connection degree centrality analysis, and mediation centrality analysis. The results revealed that Mortgage, Dispute, Repair, Case, Response, Condensation, Cost, Institution, Standard, and Valuation are the main keywords that characterize apartment housing defects.

  • p-Coumaric acid is an organic compound that is a hydroxyl derivative of cinnamic acid. Due to its multiple biological activities p-coumaric acid has been widely studied in biochemical and cellular systems and is also considered as a useful therapeutic candidate for various neuronal diseases. However, the efficacy of p-coumaric acid on zebrafish developmental regulation has not been fully explored. In this study, therefore, we first investigated the action mechanism of the p-coumaric acid on the zebrafish development in a whole-organism model. p-Coumaric acid treated group significantly inhibited the pigmentation of the developing zebrafish embryos compared with control embryos without any severe side effects. In addition, p-coumaric acid down-regulated more effectively in a lower concentration than the well-known zebrafish's melanogenic inhibitor, phenylthiourea. We also compared the molecular docking property of p-coumaric acid with phenylthiourea on the tyrosinase's kojic acid binding site, which is the key enzyme of zebrafish embryo pigmentation. Interestingly, p-coumaric acid interacted with higher numbers of the amino acid residues and exhibited a tight binding affinity to the enzyme than phenylthiourea. Taken all together, these results strongly suggest that p-coumaric acid inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, consequently down-regulating zebrafish embryo pigmentation, and might play an important role in the reduction of dermal pigmentation. Thus, p-coumaric acid can be an effective and non-toxic ingredient for anti-melanogenesis functional materials.

  • In this study(II), the model developed in the previous study(I) has been tested on two cases of constant-slope areas to verify the model applicability. Firstly, an impervious one-dimensional runoff problem has been simulated. Secondly, an impervious two-dimensional runoff problem at a converging plain which consists of a V-shaped section plus a portion of the surface of a cone has been simulated. For each case, the simulation results have good agreements with the observed data. And the model has been applied to actual watersheds, which were the Sulma watershed with 8$\textrm{km}^2$ and the Donggok watershed with 33.2$\textrm{km}^2$, drainage area, respectively. The simulated results agree with observed in terms of discharges at several stations. Monte Carlo simulation was also performed on the same watersheds and the modeling results have been evaluated. The suggested model can be used for real-time forecasting of rainfall-runoff analysis, and will contribute for basinwide flood control in the future.

  • FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller) is stronger to the disturbance than a classical controller and its overshoot of the intialized value is excellent. In case an unknown process or the mathematical modeling of a complicated system is impossible, a fit control quantity can be acquired by the Fuzzy inference. But FLC can not converge correctly to the desirable value because the FLC's output value by the size of the quantization level of the Fuzzy variable always has a minor error. There are many ways to eliminate the minor error, but I will suggest GA-FLC and EP-FLC Hybrid controller which csombines FLC with GA(Genetic Algorithm) and EP(Evo1ution Programming). In this paper, the output characteristics of this Hybrid controller will be compared and analyzed with those of FLC, it will he showed that this Hybrid controller converge correctly to the desirable value without any error, and !he convergence speed performance of these two kinds of Hyhrid controller also will be compared.

  • Sensitivity analysis on $PM_{10}$ forecasting simulations was carried out by using two different initial and boundary conditions of meteorological fields: NCEP/FNL (National Centers for Environmental Prediction/Final Analysis) reanlaysis data and NCEP/GFS (National Centers for Environmental Prediction/Global Forecast System) forecasting data, and the comparisons were made between two different simulations. The two results both yielded lower $PM_{10}$ concentrations than observations, with relatively lower biased results by NCEP/FNL than NCEP/GFS. We explored the detailed individual meteorological variables to associate with $PM_{10}$ prediction performance. With the results of NCEP/FNL outperforming GFS, our conclusion is that no particular significant bias was found in temperature fields between NCEP/FNL and NCEP/GFS data, while the overestimated wind speed by NCEP/GFS data influenced on the lower $PM_{10}$ concentrations simulation than NCEP/FNL, by decreasing the duration time of high-$PM_{10}$ loaded air mass over both coastal and metropolitan areas. These comparative characteristics of FNL against GFS data such as maximum 3~4 m/s weaker wind speed, $PM_{10}$ concentration control with the highest possible factor of 1.3~1.6, and one or two hour difference of peak time for each case in this study, were also reflected into the results of statistical analysis. It is implying that improving the surface wind speed fluctuation is an important controlling factor for the better prediction of $PM_{10}$ over Korean Peninsula.

  • The HEC-HMS model was applied to identify the rainfall-runoff processes for the Anseongchun basin, where the lower part of the stream has been damaged severely by tropical storms in the past. Modeling processes include incorporating with the SCS-CN model for loss, Clark's UH model for transformation, exponential recession model for baseflow, and Muskingum model for channel routing. The parameters were calibrated through an optimization technique using a trial and error method. Sensitivity analysis after calibration was performed to understand the effects of parameters, such as the time of concentration, storage coefficient, and base flow related constants. Two storm water events were simulated by the model and compared with the corresponding observations. Good accuracy in predicting the runoff volume, peak flow, and the time to peak flow was achieved using the selected methods. The results of this study can be used as a useful tool for decision makers to determine a master plan for regional flood control management.
