  • Several vendors have recently been actively pursuing the development of integral pressurized water reactors (iPWRs) that range in power levels from small to large reactors. Integral reactors have the features of minimum vessel penetrations, passive heat removal after reactor shutdown, and modular construction that allow fast plant integration and a secure fuel cycle. The features of an integral reactor limit the options for placing control and safety system instruments. The development of instrumentation and control (I&C) strategies for a large 1,000 MWe iPWR is described. Reactor system modeling-which includes reactor core dynamics, primary heat exchanger, and the steam flashing drum-is an important part of I&C development and validation, and thereby consolidates the overall implementation for a large iPWR. The results of simulation models, control development, and instrumentation features illustrate the systematic approach that is applicable to integral light water reactors.

  • The relational data model can't be applied to CAD/CAM, CE, and CIM since it can't support the semantic model concept such as complex object, random data definition, manipulation, version control, generalization, aggregation and so on. In this paper, the IPCS(Integrated Production Control System) for hand-rail of ship is parted into several module according to process function. further more, the object oriented data model is designed with UML(Unified Modeling Language). UML is the object oriented design methodology of industrial standard that combines the Booch's methodology, the Rumbaugh's On(Object Modeling Technique), and the Jacobson's OOSE(Object-Oriented Software Engineering) methodology. The efficient management is expected with object-oriented data model construction, since this developed system can achieve efficient process control, system maintenance, repair and extension.

  • This paper formally defines a role-driven security and access control model of a business process in order eventually to provide a theoretical basis for realizing the secured business process management systems. That is, we propose a graphical representation and formal description of the mechanism that generates a set of role-driven security and access control models from a business process modeled by the information control net(ICN) modeling methodology that is a typical business process modeling approach for defining and specifying business processes. Based upon the mechanism, we are able to design and accomplish a secured business process management system that provides an unified resource access control mechanism of the business process management engine domain's and the application domain's. Finally, we strongly believe that the secured access control policies from the role-driven security and access control model can be easily transformed into the RBAC(Role-based Access Control) model that is a standardized security technology for computer and communications systems of commercial and civilian government organizations.

  • An objective of Automated Highway Systems (AHS) is to increase the safety and throughput of the existing highway infrastructure by introducing traffic automation. AHS is an example of a large scale, multiagent complex dynamical system and is ideally suited for a hierarchical hybrid controller. We discuss a design issue of efficient hybrid controllers for the platoon maneuvers on AHS. For the modeling of a hybrid system including the merge and split operations, a safety distance policy is introduced for the merge and split operations. After that, the platoon system will be modeled by a hybrid system In addition, a hybrid controller for the proposed merge and split operation models is presented. Finally, the performance of the proposed hybrid control scheme is demonstrated via scenarios for platoon maneuvers.

  • A mathematical model is developed for thermal solution copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile in a continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR). Computational studies are carried out with the continuous copolymerization system model developed in this work to give the monomer conversion, copolymer composition and the average molecular weights of the copolymer. By performing the dynamic analysis of the reaction system, the polymer properties against the changes in the operating conditions are determined quantitatively. The cascade PID and fuzzy controller show satisfactory performances for both set point tracking and disturbance rejection. Especially, the fuzzy controller is superior to the PID controller.

  • This research investigates a Modeling Spell Checker that, similarly to Word Spell Checker for word processing software, would conform as-built 3D models to standard construction rules. The work is focused on the study of pipe-spools. Specifically pipe diameters and coplanarity are checked and corrected by the Modeling Spell Checker, and elbows are deduced and modeled to complete models. Experiments have been conducted by scanning scenes of increasing levels of complexity regarding the number of pipes, the types of elbows and the number of planes constituting pipe-spools. For building models of pipes from sensed data, a modeling method, developed at the University of Texas at Austin, that is based on the acquisition of sparse point clouds and the human ability to recognize geometric shapes has been used Results show that primitive-based models obtained after scanning construction sites can be corrected and even improved automatically, and, since such models are expected to be used as feedback control models for equipment operators, the higher modeling accuracy achieved with the Modeling Spell Checker could potentially increase the level of safety in construction. Result also show that some improvements are still needed especially regarding the co-planarity of pipes. In addition, results show that the modeling accuracy significantly depends on the primitive modeling method, and improvement of that method would positively impact the modeling spell checker.

  • This paper proposed a kinematic modeling methodlogy and feedback control system based on kinematics for 2 degrees of freedom of 4-wheeled mobile robot. We assigned coordinate systems to specify the transformation matirx and write the kinematic equation of motion. We derived the actuated inverse and sensed forwared solution for the calculation of actual robot orientation and the desired robot orientation. It is the most significant error and has the largest impact on the motion accuracy. To calculate the WMR position in real time, we introduced the dead-reckoning algorithm and composed two feedback control system that is based on kinematics. Through the simulation result, we compare with the ffedback control system for position control.

  • A fuzzy learning method to control an unstable and multivariable system is presented in this paper, Because the multivariable system has generally a coupling effect between the inputs and outputs, it is difficult to find its modeling equation or parameters. If the system is unstable, initial condition rules are needed to make it stable because learning is nearly impossible. Therefore, this learning method uses the initial rules and introduces a cost function composed of the actual error and error-rate of each output without the modeling equation. To minimize the cost function, we experimentally got the Jacobian matrix in the operating point of the system. From the Jacobian matrix, we can find the direction of the convergence in the learning, and the optimal control rules are finally acquired when the fuzzy rules are updated by changing the portion of the errors and error rates.

  • An analytical framework for fuzzy modeling and control of nonlinear systems using a set of linear models is presented. Fuzzy clustering is applied on the aerodynamic coefficients of a missile to obtain an optimal number of rules in a Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy rule-set. Next, the obtained membership functions and rule-sets are applied to a set of linear optimal controllers towards extraction of a global controller. Reported simulations demonstrate the performance, stability, and robustness of the controller.

  • This paper presents a three dimensional modeling and a trajectory generation for minimized impact walking of the biped robot. Inverse dynamic analysis and forward dynamic analysis are performed considering impact force between the foot and ground for determining the actuator capacity and for simulating the proposed biped walking robot. Double support phase walking is considered for close to human's with adding the kinematic constraints on the one of the single support phase.
