  • A scheme of clarifying fault feature in the residual is given for model-based fault detection and diagnosis of control systems. It is based on the residual generation using a robust filter and the noise suppresion in test statistics of the residual by multi-scale discrete wavelet transform. By clarifying the fault feature in the residual, the difficulties of existing model based approaches via adopting a threshold can be overcomed and it has advantage of taking the false alarm and missed detection into acount at the same time, which can make the fault detection and diagnosis easy and correct.   • 화학공정에서 의도되지 않게 발생하는 이상은 큰 사고를 유발할 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해, 신속하게 이상의 원인을 감지하고 판별하는 이상 진단 모델이 필요하다. 하지만, 이상 진단을 연구하는 대부분 연구의 경우, 상용프로그램에서 공정 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 이상 데이터를 생성하고 이를 이용하여 연구한 방법론을 적용하고 있다. 이는 실제 공정상에서 이상을 포함하는 실제 데이터를 얻는 데 많은 제약이 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 실제 폴리스티렌 반응기에서 얻은 이상 데이터와 정상 데이터를 분석하여 적절한 이상 진단 모델을 설계하고자 하였다. 먼저, 정상 데이터를 분석하여 세 가지의 조업 모드가 존재함을 확인하였으며, 모드 판별을 위한 모델을 SVM (Support Vector Machine)을 이용하여 만들었다. 각 조업 모드 별로 PCA (Principal Component Analysis)를 이용하여 이상 진단 모델을 만들었으며, 실제 이상 데이터를 이용하여 계산한 결과 신속하게 이상을 진단할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 모델을 통해, 실제 사고가 발생하는 경우 신속한 대처가 가능하며, 이는 잠재적인 손실의 감소에 기여할 수 있음을 의미한다.

페트리네트 모델을 이용한 냉동시스템의 고장 진단 (Fault Diagnosis of a Refrigeration System Based on Petri Net Model)

  • In this paper, we proposes a man-machine interface design for fault diagnosis system with inter-node search method in a Petri net model. First, complicated fault cases are modeled as the Petri net graph expressions. Next, to find out causes of the faults on which we focus, a Petri net model is analyzed using the backward reasoning of transition-invariance in the Petri net. In this step, the inter-node search method algorithm is applied to the Petri net model for reducing the range of sources in faults. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a fault diagnosis of a refrigeration system to confirm the validity of the proposed method.

  • The CNC machine toots has two kinds of fault. One is the fault due to degraded parts and the other is the fault due to operation disability. The phenomena of degradation is predictable but the operational fault is unpredictable because it occurred without any warning. The major faults of CNC machine tool are operational faults which are charged over 70%. This paper describes the model of remote service and the intelligent fault diagnosis system to diagnosis operational faults of CNC machine tools. To generalize fault diagnosis, two diagnosis models such as SF(Switching Function) and SSF(Step Switching Function) are proposed. The SF is static model and SSF is dynamic model for expression of fault. The SF and SSF model can be generated using SFG(Switching Function Generator) which is developed in this research. The three major operational faults such as emergency stop error, cycle start disability and machine ready disability are applied to experiment of fault modeling. To remote service of faults fur CNC machine tool, the web server and client system based internet are proposed as the suitable environment. The developed two technologies are implemented with the internal function of open architecture controller. The implemental results for two technologies are presented to validate the proposed scheme.

SEMISUPERVISED CLASSIFICATION FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS IN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

  • Pattern classifications have become important tools for fault diagnosis in nuclear power plants (NPP). However, it is often difficult to obtain training data under fault conditions to train a supervised classification model. By contrast, normal plant operating data can be easily made available through increased deployment of supervisory, control, and data acquisition systems. Such data can also be used to train classification models to improve the performance of fault diagnosis scheme. In this paper, a fault diagnosis scheme based on semisupervised classification (SSC) scheme is developed. In this scheme, new measurements collected from the plant are integrated with data observed under fault conditions to train the SSC models. The trained models are subsequently applied to new measurements for fault diagnosis. In comparison with supervised classifiers, the proposed scheme requires significantly fewer data collected under fault conditions to train the classifier. The developed scheme has been validated using different fault scenarios on a desktop NPP simulator as well as on a physical NPP simulator using a graph-based SSC algorithm. All the considered faults have been successfully diagnosed. The results have demonstrated that SSC is a promising tool for fault diagnosis in NPPs.

  • The hybrid fault diagnosis method based on a combination of the signed digraph (SDG) and the partial least-squares (PLS) has the advantage of improving the diagnosis resolution, accuracy and reliability, compared to those of previous qualitative methods, and of enhancing the ability to diagnose multiple fault. In this study, the method is applied for the multiple fault diagnosis of the Tennessee Eastman challenge process, which is a realistic industrial process for evaluating process contol and monitoring methods. The process is decomposed using the local qualitative relationships of each measured variable. Dynamic PLS (DPLS) model is built to estimate each measured variable, which is then compared with the estimated value in order to diagnose the fault. Through case studies of 15 single faults and 44 double faults, the proposed method demonstrated a good diagnosis capability compared with previous statistical methods.

  • In order to reduce damages to major railroad components, which have the potential to cause interruptions to railroad services and safety accidents and to generate unnecessary maintenance costs, the development of rolling stock maintenance technology is switching from preventive maintenance based on the inspection period to predictive maintenance technology, led by advanced countries. Furthermore, to enhance trust in accordance with the speedup of system and reduce maintenances cost simultaneously, the demand for fault diagnosis and prognostic health management technology is increasing. The objective of this paper is to propose a highly reliable learning model using various machine learning algorithms that can be applied to critical rolling stock components. This paper presents a model for railway rolling stock component fault diagnosis and conducts a mechanical failure diagnosis of motor components by applying the machine learning technique in order to ensure efficient maintenance support along with a data preprocessing plan for component fault diagnosis. This paper first defines a failure diagnosis model for rolling stock components. Function-based algorithms ANFIS and SMO were used as machine learning techniques for generating the failure diagnosis model. Two tree-based algorithms, RadomForest and CART, were also employed. In order to evaluate the performance of the algorithms to be used for diagnosing failures in motors as a critical railroad component, an experiment was carried out on 2 data sets with different classes (includes 6 classes and 3 class levels). According to the results of the experiment, the random forest algorithm, a tree-based machine learning technique, showed the best performance.

A New Support Vector Machine Model Based on Improved Imperialist Competitive Algorithm for Fault Diagnosis of Oil-immersed Transformers

  • Support vector machine (SVM) is introduced as an effective fault diagnosis technique based on dissolved gases analysis (DGA) for oil-immersed transformers with maximum generalization ability; however, the applicability of the SVM is highly affected due to the difficulty of selecting the SVM parameters appropriately. Therefore, a novel approach combing SVM with improved imperialist competitive algorithm (IICA) for fault diagnosis of oil-immersed transformers was proposed in the paper. The improved ICA, which is proved to be an effective optimization approach, is employed to optimize the parameters of SVM. Cross validation and normalizations were applied in the training processes of SVM and the trained SVM model with the optimized parameters was established for fault diagnosis of oil-immersed transformers. Three classification benchmark sets were studied based on particle swarm optimization SVM (PSOSVM) and IICASVM with four multiple classification schemes to select the best scheme for transformer fault diagnosis. The results show that the proposed model can obtain higher diagnosis accuracy than other methods. The comparisons confirm that the proposed model is an effective approach for classification problems.

  • CNC machine tool is assembled by central processor, PLC(Programmable Logic Controller), and actuator. The sequential control of machine generally controlled by a PLC. The main fault occured at PLC in 3 control parts. In LC faults, operational fault is charged over 70%. This paper describes diagnosis model and data processing for remote monitoring and diagnosis system in machine tools with open architecture controller. Two diagnostic models based on the ladder diagram. Logical Diagnosis Model(LDM), Sequential Diagnosis Model(SDM), are proposed. Data processing structure is proposed ST(Structured Text) based on IEC1131-3. The faults from CNC are received message form open architecture controller and faults from PLC are gathered by sequential data.. To do this, CNC and PLC's logical and sequential data is constructed database.

  • This paper describes a fault detection and fault handling algorithm to be used in a longitudinal vehicle cruise control systems. The fault diagnosis system consists of two structures to generate proper residuals and to find that which component has a fault. A systematic design of the fault diagnosis system using model-based techniques is presented. A linear observer is used to create a set of signals sensitive to faults in a radar sensor. The fault handling system consists of two structures to compensate for faults and degraded system performance. Simulation results show that the algorithm is effective for a fault diagnosis and handling in a longitudinal vehicle cruise control system.
