In this paper we propose an eminent controller for wheeled mobile robots. This controller consists of an input-output linearization controller trying to stabilize the system and a neural network controller to compensate for uncertainties. The uncertainties are divided into two parts. First unstructured uncertainties include the elements related with system order such as friction disturbance. Second structure uncertainties are the incorrect system parameters A neural network structure of the proposed overall controller learns structural errors of the wheeled mobile robots with uncertainties and includes the neural network output. This controller learns quickly the model and has good tracking performance Simulation results show that the proposed controller is more efficient than analog controllers.
For critical structures and application, where a given reliability must be met, it is necessary to account for uncertainties and variability in material properties, structural parameters affecting the corrosion process, in addition to the statistical and decision uncertainties. This paper presents an approach to the fuzzy arithmetic based modeling of the chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement in concrete structures that takes into account the uncertainties in the physical models of chloride penetration into concrete and corrosion of steel reinforcement, as well as the uncertainties in the governing parameters, including concrete diffusivity, concrete cover depth, surface chloride concentration and critical chloride level for corrosion initiation. The parameters of the models are regarded as fuzzy numbers with proper membership function adapted to statistical data of the governing parameters and the fuzziness of the corrosion time is determined by the fuzzy arithmetic of interval arithmetic and extension principle

This paper proposes an observer-based method for adaptive nonlinear guidance. Previously, adaptive nonlinear guidance law is proposed considering target maneuver and control loop dynamics. However, several information of this guidance law is not available, and therefore needs to be estimated for more practical application. Accordingly, considering the unavailable information as bounded time-varying uncertainties, an integrated guidance and control model is re-formulated in normal form with respect to available states including target uncertainties and control loop dynamics. Then, a nonlinear observer is designed based on the integrated guidance and control model. Finally, using the estimates for states and uncertainties, an observer-based adaptive guidance law is proposed to guarantee the desired interception performance against maneuvering target. The proposed approach can be effectively used against target maneuver and the limited performance of control loop. The stability analyses and simulations of the proposed observer and guidance law are included to demonstrate the practical application of our scheme.

This paper suggests a multiple robot simulator which considers the uncertainties in robot motion and sensing. A mobile robot moves with errors due to some kinds of uncertainties from actuators, wheels, electrical components, environments. In addition, sensors attached to a mobile robot can't make accurate output information because of uncertainties of the sensor itself and environment. Uncertainties in robot motion and sensing leads researchers find difficulty in building mobile robot navigation algorithms. Generally, a robot algorithm without considering unexpected uncertainties fails to control its action in a real working environment and it leads to some troubles and damages. Thus, the authors propose a simulator model which includes robot motion and sensing uncertainties to help making robust algorithms. Sensor uncertainties are applied in range sensors which are widely used in mobile robot localization, obstacle detection, and map building. The paper shows performances of the proposed simulator by comparing it with a simulator without any uncertainty.
Performance of force tracking impedance control of robot manipulators is degraded by the uncertainties in the robot and environment dynamic model. The purpose of this paper is to improve the controller robustness by applying neural network. Neural networks are designed to learn the uncertainties in robot and environment model for compensating the uncertainties. The proposed scheme is verified through the simulation of 20DOF robot manipulator.

Using the physics-based model for the vibration isolation system, the model uncertainties are described. With the model including parameter perturbations, the robust controller to meet the robust performance and stability is designed through $\mu$-synthesis by DK-iteration. The order of controller is reduced by virtue of Hankel norm approximation technique to allow the efficient implementation in the real-time experimental environment without any performance degradation. The performance of the reduced $\mu$-controller is accessed in comparison with the original one. The experiments validate the superiority of the proposed control scheme against the model uncertainties and its applicability with varying payload.

This paper proposes a disturbance observer-based control for 6-DOF remotely operated underwater vehicles with model uncertainties. The sum of external disturbance and the forces generated from model parameters except for the inertial matrix of the hydrodynamic model is defined as a lumped disturbance in this paper. Then, the lumped disturbance caused by model uncertainties and the external forces is estimated using the disturbance observer. Fortunately, the disturbance observer is constructed as a linear form because all the elements of the inertial matrix of the hydrodynamic model are constants. To verify the proposed control scheme, we show that the actual lumped disturbance is similar to the estimated lumped disturbance obtained by the disturbance observer. Finally, the position tracking performance in the disturbance environment is confirmed through the comparative study with a traditional inverse dynamics PD controller.
This paper presents an adaptive control against uncertainties in tail-controlled STT (skid-to-Turn) missiles. First, we derive an analytic uncertainty model from a parametricaffine missile model developed by the authors. Based on this analytic model, an adaptive feedbacklinearizing control law accompanied by a sliding model control law is proposed. We provide analyses of stability and output tracking performance of the overall adaptive missile system. The performance and validity of the proposed adaptive control scheme is demonstrated by simulation.
The TMSR-SF0 simulator is an integral effect thermal-hydraulic experimental system for the development of thorium molten salt reactor (TMSR) program in China. The simulator has two heat transport loops with liquid FLiNaK. In literature, the 95% level confidence uncertainties of the thermophysical properties of FLiNaK are recommended, and the uncertainties of density, heat capacity, thermal conductivity and viscosity are ±2%, ±10, ±10% and ±10% respectively. In order to investigate the effects of thermophysical properties uncertainties on the molten salt heat transport system, the uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of the heat transfer characteristics of the simulator system are carried out on a RELAP5 model. The uncertainties of thermophysical properties are incorporated in simulation model and the Monte Carlo sampling method is used to propagate the input uncertainties through the model. The simulation results indicate that the uncertainty propagated to core outlet temperature is about ±10 ℃ with a confidence level of 95% in a steady-state operation condition. The result should be noted in the design, operation and code validation of molten salt reactor. In addition, more experimental data is necessary for quantifying the uncertainty of thermophysical properties of molten salts.
