Evaluation and Comparison of Bank Efficiency in Cross-Strait after ECFA

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the ECFA impacted the efficiency of banks in China and Taiwan from 2008 to 2017. This study follows Seiford and Zhu (2002), who recommend using the standard data envelopment analysis model to measure performance by increasing the desirable outputs and decreasing the undesirables. The finding was that overall technical efficiency increased from 2012 to 2017, reaching 0.575, 0.652, 0617, 0.689, 0.701 and 0.74, respectively. This result implies bank efficiency did indeed improve after China and Taiwan signed the ECFA cooperation agreement. The study found that the mean technical efficiency was 0.8756 in China, greater than Taiwan's mean of 0.3511, implying that Chinese banks experienced a greater increase in efficiency after signing the EFCA. One possible reason explored in this study is that China's economy is currently growing at the highest rate in the world, and the banks' efficiency has benefited from greater economic growth. This suggests that cross-strait sustained negotiations to consummate an agreement on trade in the services will be a very important mission in the future. This result also provides significant evidence suggesting that not accounting for undesirable output while estimating the evolution of the model may seriously distort efficiency results.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the managerial efficiency of fisheries cooperatives in Korea by using data envelopment Analysis(DEA). The DEA method is a relative evaluation method on the basis of linear programming. Also, it is known as a useful method for the evaluation of not-for-profit organizations which cannnot be measured by mere monetray units for their performances. The 50 units have been taken for the purpose of analysis. All of the units are homogeneous groups, and the produce multiple services with multiple inputs. Input variables are a number of employee, fixed assets, and business managerial costs. Output variables include a number of deposits, a number of loans, a total deposits, a total loans, and operational income for one year. The empirical results of this study are as follows. First, the average technical efficiency showed 82.35% which revealed about 17.65% of non-efficiency in 2001. Second, in 15 DMUs, the overall inefficiency is mainly attributed to their efficient operations or management. To be opposed, in 18 DMUs, the overall inefficiency is mainly attributed to their scale efficiency. Third, efficiency ranking results by DEA do not agree with the ratio analysis by fisheries cooperatives. Fourth, average efficiency level by year was improving gradually by 0.7408 in 1999, 0.8023 in 2000, and 0.8235 in 2001 at significant 10% level.

퍼지DEA에 의한 항만의 효율성 및 순위 측정방법: 평균지수변환모형 접근 (A Measurement Way of Seaport Efficiency and Ranking Using Fuzzy DEA: Average Index Transformation Model Approach)

  • 본 연구에서는 첫째, 퍼지DEA모형을 해운항만분야에 이용한 국내외 기존연구들을 간략하게 검토하였으며, 둘째, Campos and Gonzalez(1989), 임성묵(2008)의 평균지수변환모형을 이론적으로 소개하였으며, 셋째, 국내 26개항만을 대상으로 2개의 투입요소(접안능력, 하역능력), 2개의 산출요소(화물처리량, 입출항척수)를 이용하여 평균지수변환모형에 의거하여 효율성을 분석하고 해석하였다. 실증분석결과를 요약해 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일반 투입지향 CCR모형에서는 통영, 고현, 옥포, 속초항이 효율적이었으며, 여수항이 90% 후반의 효율성을 보였다. 둘째, 퍼지DEA 평균지수변환모형에서는 고현, 속초항이 가장 효율적이었으며, 옥포, 여수항은 람다값이 커질수록 효율성이 증가되었다. 또한 완도, 여수, 서귀포항은 람다값이 높아질 수록 효율성수치도 높아졌다. 셋째, 일반적인 투입지향 CCR 모형의 효율성 수치와 평균지수변환법에 의한 효율성수치의 평균순위는 거의 일치하였다. 본 논문이 갖는 정책적인 함의는 국내항만의 정책입안담당자들은 투입요소와 산출요소의 값을 정확히 알지 못하고 애매모호한 수준에서 알고 있을 때, 본 논문에서 사용한 퍼지 DEA 평균지수모형을 이용할 필요성이 있다는 점이다.

110kW급 고출력 밀도형 PMSM의 손실 저감을 통한 고효율 설계에 대한 연구 (Study on the High Efficiency Design through the Loss Reduction of the 110kW Class High-output Density PMSM)

  • In this paper, 110kW high output density, high efficiency Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which can be applied on tram’s traction system is introduced, along with its output and loss characteristics. The motor model is 2pole 18slot model and its size has been reduced through the high speed for high output density. Especially, structure and retainer sleeve structure is applied to its structure, which is also appropriate for high speed rotation. This kind of structure has eddy current loss problem on the surface of rotor, which must be reduced for high output density design. This study has designed the most optimized additional design parameter in order to improve the output characteristics and efficiency of previous produced 2pole 18 slot 110kW motor model and how the width of airgap affects from the loss perspective is mainly analyzed. Finally, the analysis on the extent of the efficiency improvement effect compared to the previous model has performed through electromagnetic FEM analysis. The influence of airgap flux density distribution has also been thoroughly examined.

Integrated Model of Power Electronics, Electric Motor, and Gearbox for a Light EV

  • This study presents a model of a drivetrain for an integrated design of a light electric vehicle (EV). For the drivetrain of each front wheel of the single-person, battery-powered EV tricycle consists of a battery, an inverter, and an outer rotor permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), which is connected to an in-wheel gearbox. The efficiency of the inverter, motor, and gearbox is analyzed over the New European Driving Cycle. To calculate the losses and efficiency of the PMSM, the power electronics in the inverter and gearbox are used. The analytical models provide a fast, but less accurate result, useful for optimization purposes. To accurately predict the efficiency of the PMSM, a finite element model is used. The models are validated by test setups. Correspondingly, a good agreement between the measurements and the calculated results is achieved. A parameter study is performed to investigate the influence of the detailed component parameters (i.e., outer rotor radius, gear ratio, and number of pole pairs and stator slots) on the average efficiency of the drivetrain.

  • This study examines the issue of space management of university facilities by an assessment model as part of efforts to deal with the crisis of universities. To this end, the study addressed efficiency issue and structural problems using assessment model factors, with the aim of figuring out legitimacy and allocating methods for this purpose. Selected model factors included utilization ratio, residual ratio, vacancy ratio, and occupancy ratio, while for the latter, we investigated into the present situations of space use, focusing on construction, design, and living dimensions. As a result, the study suggested that in the future universities will resort to extension and rebuilding or new building for their facilities. To ensure space efficiency without conflict, we should follow legitimacy of space allocation and composition, building quality university facilities, creating quality environment, preventing tuition from rising or Improving welfare to keep pace with the new era.

A Hybrid Approach Based on Multi-Criteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) and a Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) to Evaluate Efficiency of Customer Services in Bank Branches

  • A hybrid procedure based on multi-Criteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) and a Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) is proposed to evaluate the relative efficiency of customer services in bank branches. First, a three-stage process including sub-processes such as customer expectations, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty, is defined to model the banking customer services. Then, fulfillment of customer expectations, customer loyalty level, and the customer satisfaction degree are measured and quantified through a multi-dimensional questionnaire based on customers' perceptions analysis and MUSA method, respectively. The customer services scores and the other criteria such as mean of employee evaluation score, operation costs, assets, deposits, loans, number of accounts are considered in network three-stage DEA model. The proposed NDEA model is formed based on multipliers perspective, output-oriented, and constant return to scale assumptions. The proposed NDEA model quantifies and assesses the total efficiency of main process and assigns the efficiency to customer expectations, customer satisfactions, and customer loyalties sub-processes in bank branches. The whole procedure is applied on 30 bank branches in IRAN. The proposed approach can be used in other organizations such as airports, airline agencies, urban transportation systems, railway organizations, chain stores, chain restaurants, public libraries, and entertainment centers.

자료포락분석을 활용한 국방핵심기술 연구개발사업의 성과 분석 (Analyzing the Performance of Defense R&D Projects based on DEA)

  • Demand for performance analysis is increasing for efficient use of limited budgets such as improving investment efficiency and strategic budget allocation in accordance with the continuous increase demand of R&D budget for developing advanced weapon systems in the future battlefields. In accordance with the Act on the Performance Evaluation and Performance Management of the National R&D Projects established in March 2006, the performance analysis has been conducted for the systematic management and utilization of the R&D project performance. It was recognized as a project to achieve self-defense through strengthening the weapons system development capability, however, efficiency evaluation of Defense R&D projects was not much emphasized. Research on the efficiency analysis of defense R&D projects has been conducted in recent years, but most studies focused on corporate efficiency and productivity of defense companies. In this study, we analyzed the three-stage performance of defence R&D projects based on the logical model using the data envelope analysis(DEA) model. We also analyzed performance analysis from various perspectives through R&D type, technology classification and performance model. This study is expected to help defense department improve defense R&D projects and make decision.

Inter-clustering Cooperative Relay Selection Schemes for 5G Device-to-device Communication Networks

  • The ongoing adoption of 5G will increase the data traffic, throughput, multimedia services, and power consumption for future wireless applications and services, including sensor and mobile networks. Multipath fading on wireless channels also reduces the system performance and increases energy consumption. To address these issues, device-to-device (D2D) and cooperative communications have been proposed. In this study, we propose two inter-clustering models using the relay selection method to improve system performance and increase energy efficiency in cooperative D2D networks. We develop two inter-clustering models and present their respective algorithms. Subsequently, we run a computer simulation to evaluate each model's outage probability (OP) performance, throughput, and energy efficiency. The simulation results show that inter-clustering model II has the lowest OP, highest throughput, and highest energy efficiency compared with inter-clustering model I and the conventional inter-clustering-based multirelay method. These results demonstrate that inter-clustering model II is well-suited for use in 5G overlay D2D and cellular communications.

국내항만투자의 방사.비방사적 효율성 측정을 위한 모형개발 및 실증적 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Model Development and Empirical Application for Measuring the Radial and Non-radial Efficiencies of Investment in Domestic Seaports)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내항만투자의 효율성을 정확하게 측정하기 위해서 기존의 방사모형과 새롭게 개발된 비방사적인 방법(패널 가법모형, 패널 RAM모형, 패널 SBM 모형)으로, 2001 년부터 2007년까지 국내 20개 항만의 4개의 산출물(항만서비스만족도, 선박입출항척수, 항만재정수입, 컨테이너화물처리량)과 1개의 투입물(항만투자금액)을 이용하여 국내항만들의 효율성을 측정하고 그 결과를 비교분석하였다. 실증분석의 주요한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 효율성 수치의 순위에 의한 스피어만의 서열상관관계계수의 결과는 (1) 방사모형과 패널가 법모형의 효율성 수치에 의한 서열상관이 약 76%수준 일치 (2) 효율성 수치에 의한 서열상관관계는 약71.6%수준에서 일치하였다. 둘째, 방사-비방사모형의 효율성수치들은 (1) 방사모형과 패널SBM모형(비교적 유사) (2) 패널RAM모형의 효율성 수치가 더 높았음, (3) 패널SBM모형과는 효율성 수치가 매우 유사 하였음. 셋째, 방사모형과 비방사모형의 투입 및 산출물 슬랙의 크기를 비교해 보면 방사모형의 슬랙이 더 적었다. 넷째, 가법모형을 제외한 나머지 모형들에 대한 측정결과를 보면, (1) 효율성수치나 효율적인 항만숫자 측면에서 보면 패널RAM모형, 패널SBM모형, 방사모형의 순서였다. (2) 최저효율성 수치를 비교해 본 결과도 첫 번째와 동일한 순서를 나타내었다. 본 연구의 정책적인 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내항만들은 방사 비방사모형을 이용하여 해당항만의 효율성을 더욱 엄격하게 평가하여 그에 따른 항만경영전략을 도입하여야만 한다. 둘째, 국내항만들은 방사 비방사모형에서 제시할 수 있는 투입 및 산출요소의 슬랙의 크기를 파악하고, 해당항만에 적합한 슬랙을 제거시키는 항만경영전략을 도입하여야만 한다. 셋째, 본 논문에서 제시했던 비방사모형 중에서 해당항만에 적합한 측정방법을 선택하여 해당항만경영에 도입하는 방법을 도입해야만 한다. 본 논문의 한계점은 국내에서는 비방사적인 측정방법에 대한 연구가 극히 부진하여 방사적인 방법과 비방사적인 방법과의 모형별로 심도있는 분석이 시도되지 못했다고 하는 점이다. 이 부분에 대한 연구는 차후에 진행하고자 한다.
