A precoding strategy is one of the representative interference management techniques in cognitive radio (CR) network which is a typical interference-limited environment. The interference minimization approach to precoding is an appropriate scheme to mitigate the interference efficiently while it may cause the capacity loss of the desired channel. The precoding scheme for the maximal capacity of the desired channel improves the capacity of the desired channel while it increases the interference power and finally causes the capacity loss of the interfered users. Therefore, we propose a precoding scheme which satisfies these two conflicting goals and manages the interference signal in such an interference-limited environment. The proposed scheme consists of two steps. First, the precoder nulls out the largest singular value of the interference channel to mitigate the dominant interference signal based on the interference minimization approach. Second, the transmitter calculates the sum capacities per mode and selects a mode to maximize the sum capacity. In the second step, each mode consists of the right singular vectors corresponding to the singular values except the largest singular value eliminated in the first step. Simulation results show that the proposed precoding scheme not only efficiently mitigate the interference signal, but also has the best performance in terms of the sum capacity in a MIMO-based CR network.

This paper considers a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) power line communication (PLC) network where interference alignment (IA) technique is used to mitigate the interference that arises in multi-user networks. IA as a precoding technique requires perfect channel state information (CSI) to achieve maximum multiplexing gain. Due to the common-mode reception at the receiver ports, we assume imperfect CSI for the IA precoding design. Here, the CSI is quantized and sent via feedback to the transmit ports. For different levels of CSI quantization, we evaluate the performance of various IA algorithms via Monte Carlo simulations. Simulation results reveal the superior performance of the proposed scheme due to common-mode reception in IA MIMO PLC networks. It is shown that for a quantization level of 5 bits, the CM reception improves the sum-rate by up to 70%.

This paper focuses on solving co-channel interference (CCI) issues arising in the open subscriber group (OSG) mode of heterogeneous networks (HetNets). Considering a general framework consisting of arbitrary number of picocells within a macro cell, where the inter-user interference (IUI) is the main CCI to macro user equipments (UEs), while the the inter-cell interference (ICI) is the major CCI to pico UEs. In this paper, three IA based transceiver design schemes are proposed. For macro cell, we uniformly use block diagonalization (BD) scheme to eliminate the IUI. And for picocells, three IA schemes are proposed to mitigate the ICI. The first scheme, named as zero forcing IA (ZF-IA) scheme, aligns the inter picocell interference onto an arbitrary sub-space of the cross-tier interference using ZF scheme. Considering the channel state information (CSI) of the desired channel of pico UEs, the second scheme, named as optimal desired sub-channel selected IA (ODC-IA) scheme, aligns the inter picocell interference onto a certain sub-space of the cross-tier interference, which guarantees the largest channel gain of the desired signal of pico UEs. The third IA scheme, named as maximum cross-tier interference selected IA (MI-IA) scheme, is designed for the system with less receive antennas. The inter picocell interference is aligned onto the space of the strongest cross-tier interference and only the interference on this space is nullified. The complexity analysis and simulations show that the proposed transceiver design schemes outperform the existing IA schemes in the OSG mode of HetNets, and the MI-IA scheme reduces the requirement of the receive antennas number with lower complexity.

Since the bands 27.5 ∼ 28,350㎓ and 31.0 ~ 31.30Hz for existing fixed-satellite service were allocated to tile HAPS system in WRC-2000, the analysis on the interference effects between the existing FSS/GSO system and FS/HAPS system should be needed. To do study on the interference effects between above two systems, we can consider two frequency operational conditions, one is the Reverse mode, the other is Forward mode. In this paper, we analyzed the interference effects from airship of HAPS systems to satellite of the GSO system in the case of Reverse condition mode due to the C/I criterion, the latitude of HAPS and transmitting power of HAPS airship. In future, these results will be vital data to share between HAPS and GSO systems.

Blind interference alignment (BIA) scheme has demonstrated a way of interference alignment (IA) without channel state information at transmitter (CSIT). While it shows superior performance in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime stemming from the maximal degrees of freedom (DoF) gain, BIA scheme achieves inferior sum-rate performance in low SNR regime. This paper proposes a dual-mode transmission strategy which switches between single user (SU) SISO with receive mode selection and the BIA scheme depending upon the range of SNR. First, we derive a closed-form achievable rate for each transmission-mode. Secondly, we propose a low-complex transmission-mode selection algorithm.

We investigate the channel allocation problem in an ultra-dense device-to-device (D2D) enabled cellular network in underlaying mode where multiple D2D users are forced to share the same channel. Two kinds of low complexity solutions, which just require partial channel state information (CSI) exchange, are devised to resolve the combinatorial optimization problem with the quality of service (QoS) guaranteeing. We begin by sorting the cellular users equipment (CUEs) links in sequence in a matric of interference tolerance for ensuring the SINR requirement. Moreover, the interference quota of CUEs is regarded as one kind of communication resource. Multiple D2D candidates compete for the interference quota to establish spectrum sharing links. Then base station calculates the occupation of interference quota by D2D users with partial CSI such as the interference channel gain of D2D users and the channel gain of D2D themselves, and carries out the channel allocation by setting different access priorities distribution. In this paper, we proposed two novel fast matching algorithms utilize partial information rather than global CSI exchanging, which reduce the computation complexity. Numerical results reveal that, our proposed algorithms achieve outstanding performance than the contrast algorithms including Hungarian algorithm in terms of throughput, fairness and access rate. Specifically, the performance of our proposed channel allocation algorithm is more superior in ultra-dense D2D scenarios.
A compact red-green-blue beam combiner (multiplexer) based on two-mode interference (TMI) is proposed and its feasibility is shown through three-dimensional beam propagation simulation. The first stage TMI beam combiner makes red (637 nm) and blue (446 nm) beams combined toward one output port and the second stage one combines red, blue, and green (532 nm) beams. The power transmission to the output port from the red, green, and blue input ports are 0.96, 0.99, and 0.98, respectively. When the wavelength deviation is 10 nm, the transmission is maintained to be larger than 0.9. The size of the combiner is as tiny as $0.02{\times}3.8mm^2$.
The use of beamforming is effective for users in limited power environments. However, when it is applied to the downlink of a cellular system with universal frequency reuse, users near the sector boundary may experience significant interference from more than one sector. The use of a minimum mean square error (MMSE)-type receiver may not sufficiently cancel out the interference unless a sufficient number of receive antennas are used. In this paper, we consider the use of inter-sector beamforming that cooperates with a neighboring sector in the same cell to mitigate this interference problem in time-division duplex (TDD) environments. The proposed scheme can avoid interference from an adjacent sector in the same cell, while enhancing the transmit array gain by using the TDD reciprocity. The performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise power ratio (SINR) and the output capacity when applied to an MMSE-type receiver. The beamforming mode can be analytically switched between the inter-sector and the single-sector mode based on the long-term channel information. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is verified by computer simulation.
