  • Traditional prediction models have been developed with a fixed equation from based on the limited number of data and parameters. If new data is quite different from original data, then the model should update not only its coefficients but also its equation form. However, artificial neural network dose not need a specific equation form. Instead of that, it needs enough input-output data. Also, it can continuously re-train the new data, so that it can conveniently adapt to new data. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to verify faith and application of prediction system of concrete strength using artificial neural networks through mock-up test.

  • There are many practical applization that require motorless actuation. The purpose of the paper is to develop an actuator using the shape memory alloys(SMA) that operates is linear motion. We consider several design specifications as driving force of above 5kgf, driving stroke length 15mm, supply voltage DC 9-l2V and operating time less than 0.5sec etc. Design procedure and experimental results of a mock-up model are Presented. It has been also applied to the door locking system.

천공상태에 따른 오피스 창호의 적정 투과율 선정 (Selection to the Optimal Windows Transmittance of Office Building on Sky Conditions)

  • The purpose of this study is to select the optimal and minimum transmittance for visual amenity in office buildings. This study progressed as follows. The first, we select 5 films with various transmittance based on the current film makers whose films being used on the windows of office building nowadays and the case study of construction. And then we choose 6 kinds of transmittance as evaluation object including plain glass. The second, we made a mock-up models having different transmittance on the southern windows with model of real scale office building. The third, we select 17 pairs of adjectives for the evaluation of visual comfort on interior or exterior conditions with transmittance factor. The fourth, subjective evaluation experiment was done using selected evaluation adjectives and the result was analyzed. The results are as follows : the minimum transmittance appropriate for the office building is 30%∼40% and the optimal transmittance range is 40%∼60%.

시작 차량의 실내 감성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Enhancement of Human Sensitivity for Interior of Prototype Vehicles)

  • As the new model development lead time becoming shorter and the market requirements becoming more strict, automobile manufacturer begins to utilize 3-dimensional CAD system based techniques such as DMU (Digital Mock-up), Rf (Rapid Prototyping), VE (Virtual Engineering) to meet the market trends. But, no satisfactory utilities have been developed yet, to represent emotional properties such as embossment on the surface of interior parts, touch originated from material characteristics in virtual environment, so it is inevitable to manufacture prototype parts to verify actual feeling which passengers feel in automobile. This paper suggests a methodology to enhance the human sensitivity via embodying embossment on the surface of prototype car interior trim without deterioration of dimensional accuracy using RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) and thermoforming method.

천공상태에 따른 수직형 광파이프 시스템의 채광성능 평가 (Daylighting Performance of Lightpipe under Different Sky Conditions)

  • The use of daylighting has been increased recently due to energy and visual comfort. The aims of interior daylighting are to adequately illuminate visual tasks, to create an attractive visual environment, and to save electrical energy. Lightpipe can improve the distribution of light to interior spaces. This study aims to evaluate the comparative daylighting performance of lightpipe under different sky conditions with mock-up model, sized $6m{\times}6m{\times}4m$ ($w{\times}d{\times}h$). For the purpose, perpendicular lightpipe system was designed as 650 diameter, with an aspect ratio of 2. Totally 49 measuring points of and two of outdoor illuminance on the horizontal plane were monitored from 09:00 to 18:30 on April 29 and May 15 2008. Agilent data logger and photometric sensor were used. Light factor were used to analyse daylight performance under different sky condition. Under overcast sky condition and clear sky condition, the lightpipe system is suitable for KS recommendation level of illuminance.

  • The variable-gauge wheelset drives on the variable railways. It doesn't need to replace or move the carriages to another bogie parts. This paper is for dynamic analysis of the variable-gauge wheel set. 3D-Virtual Mock-up. program was developed to verify the operating mechanism and understand dynamic characteristics for German RAFIL- V variable-gauge wheel set. When the system is going through the width-variable railway, its safety depends on the stiffness and velocity. So the numerical and contact model of this system were developed. This solution is useful to analyze dynamic characteristics for variable-gauge wheelset.

  • With architectural technology, a building has been a far dense and close. So the thermal environment of the building has become pleasant, but the quality of indoor air has been degraded. Using synthetic products for construction materials and furniture indoors escalates the concentration of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) at indoor air, threatening the health of the residents. To reduce the concentration of volatile organic compounds at indoor air, many methods are designed, and of late, concern has been increased about the effect of air purification using air purifying plants. Field measurements were performed using Aglaonema brevispathum, Pachira aquatica and Ficus benjamiana, which were verified as air-purifying plants by NASA. The effect of reducing the concentration of air contaminants by plant studied in a full scale mock-up model. The variations of concentration of Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Formaldehyde were monitored. In most cases, the effect was excellent in Toluene and formaldehyde in summer.

식물을 이용한 실내공기환경 정화효과에 관한 연구 (The Effect of Phytofiltration System on the Improvement of Indoor Air Quality)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the impact of the Phytofiltration system on the improvement of indoor air quality. Measurement was performed in a full-scale mock up model to examine the purification efficiency of air by plants. Seven species of plants, which were recommended by NASA, were used in measurements. Two species of plants that showed outstanding purifying effects were chosen for further measurements. The measurements were performed according to the positions and amounts of plants. Thermal environment, the concentration of Toluene and Formaldehyde were monitored. Ficus Benjamiana and Aglaonema brevispathum were excellent in diluting the concentration of contaminants. The effect of diluting concentration became better as the amount of plants increased. The reducing effect was the best when the plants were placed near window.

  • To reduce the leadtime for a new model according to the strict market requirements, automobile manufacturer begins to utilize 3-dimensional CAD based techniques such as DMU(Digital Mock-Up). RP(Rapid Prototyping), VE(Virtual Engineering). But, not so many satisfactory utilities have been introduced to deal with the emotional properties such as embossment on the surface of interior parts and touch from material characteristics in virtual environment. It is required to manufacture prototype parts to verify actual feeling of the passengers in real automobile. This paper suggests a methodology to enhance emotional property via embedding embossment on the surface of prototype car interior trim without deterioration of dimensional accuracy using RIM(Reaction Injection Molding) and vacuum forming method.

  • Research interest on flexible body dynamics, has been increased recently. The major application areas are the auto-mobile, train, and heavy machinery. This paper attempted the dynamic analysis for the variable-gauge wheelset with a flexible body, to better understand the dynamic characteristics of the variable-gauge wheelset. In order to achieve this goal, a 3D-Virtual Mock-up model was built. The tendency of the stress and deformation for the flexible lever was investigated through component mode synthesis, contact mechanics and flexible body dynamics. This study is a pioneering work for the development of Korean type variable-gauge wheelset.
