  • In this paper, an efficient routing algorithm for the heterogeneous home network in which IEEE 802.15.4 compensates for limitations of PLC based home networks. The efficient routing algorithm changes the broadcast period of routing information frame according to the mobility of the node. We implemented the routing algorithm and built a test-bed.

  • Sawing experiments using a two-arm system have been performed in this work. The two-arm system under consideration of two kinematically-nonidentical arms. A passive joint is inserted at the end-point of one robot in order to increase the mobility up to the motion degree required for sawing tasks. A hybrid control algorithm for control of the two-arm system is designed. We experimentally show that the performance of the velocity and force response are satisfactory, and that one additional passive joint not only prevents the system from unwanted yaw motion in the sawing task, but also allows an unwanted pitch motion to be notably reduced by an internal load control. To show the general applicability of the proposed algorithms, we perform experimentation under several different conditions for saw, such as three saw blades, two sawing speeds, and two vertical forces.

  • Currently mobile devices change rapidly our life and they have considerable influences over many parts of our society. If the mobile device is applied to a control system, the usability of the control system is increased with its convenient accessibility and mobility. This paper realizes a motor control system by using a mobile device. The device uses Intel Xscale PXA-250 in which Widows CE is ported. The device is very popular at the applications of mobile devices. Also we consider its application to a mobile robot such as home service robot.

  • Wheeled mobile robot has different mobility and steerability which determined by type of wheel and it's arrangement. Generally wheeled mobile robot's dynamics are nonlinear and various control methods have studied to control the mobile robot efficiently. In this paper, a T-S fuzzy modeling of a 2-wheeled mobile robot is mand a stable LMI-based state feedback fuzzy controller is designed and applied to the position control of the mobile robot for the reference trajectory following. Also, the verification of the designed controller is done by computer simulation.

  • Mobility of an indoor wheeled robot is affected by adhesion force that is related to various floor conditions. When the adhesion force between driving wheels and floor decreases suddenly, the robot begins slip. In order to overcome this slip problem, optimal slip velocity must be decided for stable movement of wheeled robot. First of all, this paper shows that conventional PI control can not be applied to a wheeled robot of the light weight. Secondly, proposed fuzzy logic is applied to the Takagi-Sugeno model for the configuration of fuzzy sets. For the design of Takagi-Sugeno model and fuzzy rule, proposed algorithm uses FCM(Fuzzy c-mean clustering method) algorithm. The proposed fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is pretty useful with prevention of the slip phenomena for the controller performance in the re-adhesion control strategy.

  • For worm robots applied to pipe inspection and colonoscopy, earthworm-like robots that have a locomotion pattern in backward wave or green caterpillar-like robots that have a locomotion pattern in forward wave have been studied widely. Note however that a method using a single and fixed locomotion pattern is not desirable in the sense of mobility cost, if there are various changes in pipe diameter. In this paper, locomotion patterns are considered for a semi-looper-like robot, which adopts a locomotion pattern of green caterpillars as the basic motion and sometimes can realize a locomotion pattern of looper, whose motion approximately consists of two rhythms or relatively low rhythm.

When the adhesion force between driving wheels and the floor decreases suddenly, the robot has slip state. First of all, this paper models adhesion characteristics and slip in wheeled robot. Secondly, the paper proposes estimation method of adhesion force coefficient(AFC) according to slip velocity. In order to overcome this slip problem, optimal slip velocity must be decided for stable movement of wheeled robot. The paper proposes an anti-slip control system based on an ordinary disturbance observer, that is, the re-adhesion control is achieved by reducing the driving torque enough to give maximum adhesion force coefficient. fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is petty useful with slip through that compare fuzzy with PI control for the controller performance. These procedure is implemented using a Pioneer 2-DXE parameter.

  • In case of high speed and high mobility multibody tracked vehicle, it is hard to develop the realtime simulation model for track tension control because of the hundreds of highly nonlinear equations. In order to design more trustworthy realtime simulator for track tension control, it is necessary to use off-line tracked vehicle model. In this study, a step by step procedure is presented to develop realtime simulation model based on off-line tracked vehicle model. Simulation results show that modified off-line multibody tracked vehicle model can be used for real time simulation to control the track tension.

  • In this paper, a mobile system using multi-wheel steering and driving mechanism is proposed to maximize maneuverability of the wheeled mobile system. Among various possible configurations, the two-wheel steering and driving systems, which is minimal in structural requirement, is proposed to reduce the complexity in actual design and difficulties in control. The system possesses three or four degrees of freedom depending on the orientations of two wheels, one or two for driving and two for steering, which implies that the system's mobility is always less than three DOF. The proposed system, nonetheless, can exactly emulate characteristics of the omnidirectional motion as long as the planned path is smooth i.e., the curvature changes continuously while velocity is not zero. Efficient kinematic and dynamic control algorithms are proposed for position and orientation control of the proposed wheeled mobile system.
