Mobile Multicast Mechanism in IP based-IMT Network Platform (IP기반-IMT 네트워크에서의 모바일 멀티캐스트 기법)

  • The structure of $IP^2$(IP based-IMT Network Platform) as ubiquitous platform is three-layered model : Middleware including NCPF(Network Control Platform) and SSPF(Service Support Platform), IP-BB(IP-Backbone), Access network including Sensor network. A mobility management(MM) architecture in NCPF is proposed for $IP^2$. It manages routing information and location information separately. The existing method of multicast control in $IP^2$ is Remote Subscription. But Remote Subscription has problem that should be reconstructed whole Multicast tree when sender moves. To solve this problem, we propose a way to put Multicast Manager in NCPF.

An Energy-Efficient Mobility-Supporting MAC Protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Although mobile applications are an essential characteristic of wireless sensor networks, most existing media access control (MAC) protocols focus primarily on static networks. In these protocols, fixed periodic neighbor discovery and schedule updating are used to connect and synchronize neighbors to provide successful data transmission; however, they cannot adapt to mobile speed variation and degrade the network performance dramatically. In this paper, we propose a mobile-supporting mechanism for MAC protocols, in which the decision to update the neighbors of a mobile node is made adaptively according to the mobile speed. Analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the mechanism efficiently avoids the disconnection of amobile node from its neighbors and achieves a better performance as compared with fixed periodic neighbor discovery.

  • This paper presents design of a cleaning robot with an omni-directional mobility. The cleaning robot driven with three wheels has been developed and Those omni-wheels enable the robot to move in any directions so that lateral movement is possible. Three wheels mechanism using ball-type tire has been developed to realize a holonomic omni-diredctional robot.

  • There are currently considerable interest in the applications of conjugated polymers, oligomers, and small molecules for thin-film electronic devices. Organic materials have potential advantages to be utilized as semiconductors in field-effect transistors and light-emitting diodes. In this study, pentacene thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated on glass substrate. Aluminums were used for gate electrodes. Silicon dioxide was deposited as a gate insulator by PECVD and patterned by reactive ion etching (R.I.E). Gold was used for the electrodes of source and drain. The active semiconductor pentacene layer was thermally evaporated in vacuum at a pressure of about $10^{-8}$ Torr and a deposition rate $0.3{\AA}/s$. The fabricated devices exhibited the field-effect mobility as large as 0.07 $cm^2/V.s$ and on/off current ratio as larger than $10^7$.

  • This paper presents a scheduling approach for synthesizing pipelined datapaths under resource constraints. The proposed approach evaluates whether or not a scheduling solution can exist in case an operation temporarily is assigned to the earliest or latest control step among the assignable steps for the operation. If a solution cannot be found, it is impossible to assign the operation to that control step due to a violation against resource constraints, and so we can eliminate that control step among candidate assignable control steps. The proposed algorithm builds up a schedule based on gradual mobility reduction and finds a solution that yields high performance by evaluating on the impact on register assignment. Experiments on benchmarks show that this approach gains a considerable improvement over previous approaches.

  • In this paper, we propose a congestion control scheme to control the congestion due to the mobility of ubiquitous devices on ubiquitous computing environment. Especially, this congestion control scheme provides a reverse congestion avoidance state which can classify between packet error by features of wireless network and packet dropping by congestion. Also, it provides a slow stop state which can minimize bandwidth waste due to congestion control. The proposed congestion control scheme controls more adaptive than existing congestion control schemes. The proposed congestion control scheme is designed based on DCCP(Datagram Congestion Control Protocol) being proposed by IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) and implemented on the Linux kernel. In simulation results, the proposed congestion control scheme provides good bandwidth throughput in wireless network as well as in wired network.

  • IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks (IP-WSNs) are gaining importance for their broad range of applications in health-care, home automation, environmental monitoring, industrial control, vehicle telematics and agricultural monitoring. In all these applications, mobility in the sensor network with special attention to energy efficiency is a major issue to be addressed. Because of the energy inefficiency of networks-based mobility management protocols can be supported in IP-WSN. In this paper we propose a network based mobility supported IP-WSN protocol called Multicasting-based inter-Domain Mobility Management Scheme in Sensor-based Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks (mSFP). Based on [8,20], We present its network architecture and evaluate its performance by considering the signaling and mobility cost. Our analysis shows that the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost, total cost, and mobility cost. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 7% and the total cost by 3%. With respect to the number of hops, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 6.9%, the total cost by 2.5%, and the mobility cost by 1.5%. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the mobility cost by 1.6%.

Exploring the beneficial role of telmisartan in sepsis-induced myocardial injury through inhibition of high-mobility group box 1 and glycogen synthase kinase-3β/nuclear factor-κB pathway

  • In the present experimental study, cecal ligation and puncture significantly increased the myocardial injury assessed in terms of excess release of creative kinase-MB (CK-MB), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), interleukin (IL)-6 and decrease of IL-10 in the blood following 12 h of laparotomy procedure as compared to normal control. Also, a significant increase in protein expression levels of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) and decreased phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) was observed in the myocardial tissue as compared to normal control. A single independent administration of telmisartan (2 and 4 mg/kg) and AR-A014418 (1 and 2 mg/kg) substantially reduced sepsis-induced myocardial injury in terms of decrease levels of CK-MB, cTnI and IL-6, HMGB1, GSK-3β and increase in IL-10 and p-GSK-3β in the blood in sepsis- subjected rats. The effects of telmisartan at dose 4 mg/kg and AR-A014418 at a dose of 2 mg/kg were significantly higher than the telmisartan at a dose of 2 mg/kg and AR-A014418 1 mg/kg respectively. Further, no significant effects on different parameters were observed in the sham control group in comparison to normal. Therefore it is plausible to suggest that sepsis may increase the levels of angiotensin II to trigger GSK-3β-dependent signaling to activate the HMGB1/receptors for advanced glycation end products, which may promote inflammation and myocardial injury in sepsis-subjected rats.

The Effect of the Resistance Exercise Program on Daily Performance in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (저항운동 프로그램이 류마티스 관절염 환자의 일상 활동 수행 능력에 미치는 효과)

  • In an attempt to measure effects of the Programmed Resistance Exercise on the daily performance of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, a quasi-experiment ; non-synchronised control group pre-post-test, was carried out for 8 weeks : from June 3 to November 29, 1996. 25 for the experimental group and 26 for the control group were conveniently sampled among registered out-patients on rheumatoid arthritis clinic of Anam Hospital, Korea University Medical Center. The programmed experimental resistance exercises were carried out by the experimental group five times a week for eight weeks. Before and after experiments, level of functional task performance, functional disability, joint mobility, ESR, CRP, self-efficacy and family support were measured and statistically analysed. The results of the analysis of the effects on the Programmed Resistance Exercise are as follows : 1. A statistically significant post-test effects on functional task performance were revealed : 1) the experimental group climbed up and down the 10 steps of the stairs significantly faster than the control group(P=0.0001). 2) the experimental group walked 100 m significantly faster than the control group (P=0.0000). 3) After the experiment, the experimental group could sit down and get up from chairs with no armrest as low as 30cm, 40cm, 50cm on their on, with no assistance as opposed to the control group who could not sit down and get up from such low chairs (P=0.0084). 4) the experimental group lifted 0-15 kg object up to their own heights with no specific strain than the control group (P=0.0000). 2. A significant reduction in the functional disabilities was revealed in the experimental group(P=0.0017). 3. A notable incresement of the joint mobility was revealed in the experimental group. 4. A decrease in the ESR in both the experimental and the control groups was noticed, however, the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.9546). 5. The CRP of both the experimental and control groups decreased with no significant difference (P=0.6022). 6. The self-efficacy increased significantly in the experimental group(P=0.0042), however, no significant effect of self-efficacy on the actual practice of the program was noticed. 7. The family support revealed to be significantly higher in the experimental group (P=0.0013), however, the effect of the family support on actual practice of the program revealed not significant. Judging from the results of these experiments, the resistance exercise program not only improves the functional capacity of rheumatoid arthritis, but also diminishes their functional disabilities and has a great influence on increasing their joint mobility, self-efficacy, and family support. Concluding, in promoting the daily performance of rheumatoid arthritis, the resistance exercise program would be an appropriate nursing intervention.

The Effect of Tai Chi Self Help Group Program for Hemophilic Arthritis Patients (혈우병관절염 수술환자를 위한 타이치자조관리 프로그램 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effects of Tai Chi Self-help program for Hemophilic Arthritis Patients. Method: A quasi-experimental design was used. The subjects were 48 patients who underwent orthopedic surgery (24 experimental group, 24 control group). The subjects of experimental group were participated in the Tai Chi self-help group program in which 16 times for 8 weeks. The program consisted of health education on hemophilia, Tai Chi exercise, and workshop and its outcomes have been evaluated on WOMAC(Western Ontario and McMaster scale), mobility, pain, fatigue, muscle strength, depression, and quality of life(SF-36). The obtained data were analyzed by using the t-test or Fisher's exact test of PASW 18.0. Results: 1) The score of WOMAC, pain, fatigue, and depression decreased significantly in the experimental group as compared to the control group. 2) The score of mobility, muscle strength, and quality of life increased significantly in the experimental group as compared to the control group. Conclusion: Considering these research results, the program could be useful to improve joint movement, strength and psychological condition for patient with hemophilic arthritis, particularly in those who underwent orthopedic surgery.
