Kiosk System Design using Bluetooth SPP on Android Platform (안드로이드 플랫폼 기반 블루투스 SPP를 이용한 키오스크 시스템 설계)

  • In general, existed kiosk using touch-screen based kiosk system has been used by only single user, so that multiple users to access this kiosk need to provide a lot of waiting time and maintenance costs. To solve this problem, the framework design based on Bluetooth profile for kiosk servers is presented. The proposed kiosk system can be more efficiently used in theater, train station, bank, government, and public offices by using Bluetooth module and AP in mobile system such as smart phone.

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 키패드 조작방식에 익숙해져 있던 모바일 폰 이용자가 새로운 터치스크린 모바일 폰으로 기종을 변경하였을 때 생성하는 멘탈모델의 특징에 대하여 고찰하였다. 먼저, 터치스크린 모바일 폰의 기능 가운데서 가장 사용 빈도가 높은 상위 7개의 기능에 대한 실험과제를 설정하여 비디오 관찰실험을 실시하였다. 다음으로 수집된 데이터를 프로토콜 분석법을 이용하여 사용자의 조작과 관련된 사고의 변용과정을 분석하였다. 분석결과 키패드 조작방식에 익숙해져 있던 피험자들은 실험이 거듭될수록 새로운 터치스크린 모바일 폰의 조작과정에 적응하기 위하여 버튼이나 화면에 탭, 더블 탭 등 컴퓨터 운영시스템(윈도우)과 웹 브라우저 상의 내비게이션과 관련된 지식을 이용하여 멘탈모델을 수정하려는 경향이 있었다.

Hough Transform-based Semi-automatic Vertex Detection Algorithm on a Touch Screen Mobile Phone (모바일 폰 터치스크린에서 허프변환 기반의 반자동식 정점 검출 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes hough transform-based semi-automatic vertex detection algorithm for object modeling on a mobile phone supporting touch-screens. The proposed algorithm shows fast processing time by searching the limited range of parameters for computing hough transform with a small range of ROI image. Moreover, the proposed algorithm removes bad candidates among the detected lines by selecting the two closest candidate lines from the position of user's input. After that, it accurately detects an interesting vertex without additionally required interactions by detecting an intersection point of the two lines. As a result, we believe that the proposed algorithm shows a 1.4 pixel distance error on average as a vertex detection accuracy under such conditions as a 5.7 pixel distance error on average as an inaccurate input.

  • Interactive media is a method of communication in which the output from the media comes from the input of the users. The interactive media lets the user go back with the media. Interactive media works with the user's participation. The media still has the same purpose but the user's input adds the interaction and brings interesting features to the system for a better enjoyment. We need a digital content using a dynamic motion and gesture of the mobile device. We made an authoring tool for content producers to easily create interactive content. We have tried to take advantage of the interaction by using a touch screen and a gravity sensor of the mobile device. This interaction may lead to allow the user to participate in the content, it can be used as a key device to assist in engagement. Furthermore, our authoring tool can be applied to various fields of publishing content.

  • In this paper, we evaluated the performance of recommendation and run time of the MissLess soft keyboard developed in the previous research. The MissLess keyboard assigns a hash code per each word for all words within its mobile dictionary. It decides recommendation words through three consecutive processes such as hash filtering, sorting based on spelling similarity, and finally recommendation based on frequency of use. Each process has some factors to have an impact on the recommendation success. We conducted experiments in an Android mobile device running the MissLess keyboard and measured performance of recommendation and run time overhead according to the impact factors. In this paper, we showed the experiment results.

  • Recently smartphones, tablet, etc. Various types of smart terminal is due to the increased security in mobile devices are becoming an issue. How to enter the password in this environment is a very important issue. Difficult to have a secure password input device on various types of mobile devices. In addition you enter on the touch screen the password of character, uncomfortable and it is vulnerable to SSA attack. Therefore, in this paper provide for defense the SSA(Shoulder Surfing Attacks) and useful password input mechanism is proposed with Smartphone GPS uses a value generated via a graphical password techniques.

A study on mobile web design for efficient delivery of information (효율적인 정보전달을 위한 모바일 웹 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • The importance of effective delivery of information in the mobile web is increasing in Korea, due to the growing number of smart-phone users. In this study, I took a look at the characteristics of mobile devices and the mobile web, and after researching Korea's portal websites' mobile web designs, we figured out the users' preferences of mobile web designs through surveys and interviews. To provide compressed information on a small screen, it is ideal for significant contents to show up in the state that does not require scrolling. Users preferred compact and neat designs, and menus that were made with icons that are easy to touch with fingers, in the mobile web. When receiving delivered information, users preferred not only texts but texts that were provided together with photograph images. If usability evaluations and examination of preferences are achieved together, I think it will serve as a mobile web guideline that enables efficient delivery of information in the mobile web.

Selecting a Mobile Device Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP를 이용한 모바일 기기 선정)

  • A mobile device is a handheld device, typically having a display screen with touch input and/or a miniature keyboard and accessible to the Internet. Because mobile devices are innovative and rapidly changing products, consumers are confronted with a decision-making problem to select the best device. This paper proposes an Analytic Hierarchy Process method to assess mobile devices and shows a method to select best mobile devices when purchasing. For this paper, the mobile devices considered as in the AHP model included net-book, tablet PC, smart phone, and camera phone. We derived 6 main criteria and 15 sub-criteria to synthesize the overall priority of criteria and mobile devices. The criterion of convenience in carrying showed the highest rank in the criteria. Although smart phones had the highest priority, the four mobile devices did not show significant differences in consumer preference.

  • The QWERTY type keyboard is a classical device that has been used for computers for a long time. The keyboard design of mobile devices like smartphones is an important issue to consider because of the limited space on the touch screen. This paper presents a design for symbol allocation on the QWERTY type soft keyboard. A 27-cell model, including the full stop (.), is proposed in this paper. A QWERTY type keyboard for smartphones is mainly known for its spatial compatibility, whereas the characters of the ANSI keyboard are allocated to the shoulder positions for functional auxiliary input methods such as the long pressing method.

  • The DTL water skid cooling system and Resonant Control Cooling Systems (RCCS) will employ a control system that can be operated by a local, programmable logic controller (PLC), interfaced through a touch screen interface, mobile alarm SMS server system, or it can be operated through the PEFP global control system network. The RCCS is implemented using Experimental Physics and Control System (EPICS) based hardware and software and is integrated with other networked PEFP EPICS systems. This presentation discusses the features of the local control system.
