A Technology Mining Framework in Developing New Wireless (이동통신 서비스 개발을 위한 유망기술 발굴 프레임워크)

  • In this paper, we propose a technology mining framework for mobile communication industry. We develop a two phase approach of new technology identification and service enhancement. The new technology identification process consists of R&D issues analysis, technology theme design, and emerging technology sampling. On the other hand, existing service enhancement process has technology landscaping, keyword based search, and technological growth analysis. By implementing these two phase frameworks, we develop a technology portfolio for mobile communication industry.

  • Since 1999, mobile internet service has been increasing rapidly. According to the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of the Republic of Korea, the size of mobile service market is forecasted to be valued at approximately 10.5 trillion won in 2007. For this reason, many mobile service providers have adopted customer-centered strategy for the successful business in the mobile internet services. Thus, this research examines the rations of service quality, user satisfaction, and additional use intentions with 88 users (male and female) of mobile internet service using structural equation model (SEM). The result shows that there is a difference between male and female using mobile internet service regarding the quality factors of mobile internet service. This study provides some guidelines for the successful strategic planning of customer-centered mobile internet services in gender.

  • In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation is emerging in the education and learning fields. As the use of the mobile Internet and mobile devices has become a daily life, mobile learning that supports a variety of learning in a mobile environment is drawing attention. Mobile learning applications (apps) are expected to expand their use by providing a convenient learning environment anytime, anywhere. This study investigates the use of mobile learning apps in English education, which is one of the most popular learning areas, and empirically examines the factors that influence the continuous use of mobile learning apps. In particular, it analyzes the differences between Chinese and Korean users. The results of this study provide theoretical and practical implications to promote the development of mobile apps suitable for mobile learning environments and the sustainable user growth in mobile learning.

Computing processing power limitations of mobile devices, storage, due to space constraints, the tasks handled by mobile devices and data processing services to move to cloud environments.   • The ubiquitous accessibility of information through mobile devices has led to an increased mobility of workers from their fixed workplaces. Market researchers estimate that by 2016, 350 million workers will be using their smartphones for business purposes, and the use of smartphones will offer new business benefits. Enterprises are now adopting mobile technologies for numerous applications to increase their operational efficiency, improve their responsiveness and competitiveness, and cultivate their innovativeness. For these reasons, various organizational aspects concerning "mobile work" have received a great deal of recent attention. Moreover, many CIOs plan to allocate a considerable amount of their budgets mobile work environments. In particular, with the consumerization of information technology, enterprise mobile applications (EMA) have played a significant role in the explosive growth of mobile computing in the workplace, and even in improving sales for firms in this field. EMA can be defined as mobile technologies and role-based applications, as companies design them for specific roles and functions in organizations. Technically, EMA can be defined as business enterprise systems, including critical business functions that enable users to access enterprise systems via wireless mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets. Specifically, EMA enables employees to have greater access to real-time information, and provides them with simple features and functionalities that are easy for them to complete specific tasks. While the impact of EMA on organizational workers' productivity has been given considerable attention in various literatures, relatively little research effort has been made to examine how EMA actually lead to users' job performance. In particular, we have a limited understanding of what the key antecedents are of such an EMA usage outcome. In this paper, we focus on employees' perceived job performance as the outcome of EMA use, which indicates the successful role of EMA with regard to employees' tasks. Thus, to develop a deeper understanding of the relationship among EMA, its environment, and employees' perceived job performance, we develop a comprehensive model that considers the perceived-fit between EMA and employees' tasks, satisfaction on EMA, and the organizational environment. With this model, we try to examine EMA to explain how job performance through EMA is revealed from both the task-technology fit for EMA and satisfaction on EMA, while also considering the antecedent factors for these constructs. The objectives of this study are to address the following research questions: (1) How can employees successfully manage EMA in order to enhance their perceived job performance? (2) What internal and/or external factors are important antecedents in increasing EMA users' satisfaction on MES and task-technology fit for EMA? (3) What are the impacts of organizational (e.g. organizational agility), and task-related antecedents (e.g., task mobility) on task-technology fit for EMA? (4) What are the impacts of internal (e.g., self-efficacy) and external antecedents (e.g., system reputation) for the habitual use of EMA? Based on a survey from 254 actual employees who use EMA in their workplace across industries, our results indicate that task-technology fit for EMA and satisfaction on EMA are positively associated with job performance. We also identify task mobility, organizational agility, and system accessibility that are found to be positively associated with task-technology fit for EMA. Further, we find that external factor, such as the reputation of EMA, and internal factor, such as self-efficacy for EMA that are found to be positively associated with the satisfaction of EMA. The present findings enable researchers and practitioners to understand the role of EMA, which facilitates organizational workers' efficient work processes, as well as the importance of task-technology fit for EMA. Our model provides a new set of antecedents and consequence variables for a TAM involving mobile applications. The research model also provides empirical evidence that EMA are important mobile services that positively influence individuals' performance. Our findings suggest that perceived organizational agility and task mobility do have a significant influence on task-technology fit for EMA usage through positive beliefs about EMA, that self-efficacy and system reputation can also influence individuals' satisfaction on EMA, and that these factors are important contingent factors for the impact of system satisfaction and perceived job performance. Our findings can help managers gauge the impact of EMA in terms of its contribution to job performance. Our results provide an explanation as to why many firms have recently adopted EMA for efficient business processes and productivity support. Our findings additionally suggest that the cognitive fit between task and technology can be an important requirement for the productivity support of EMA. Further, our study findings can help managers in formulating their strategies and building organizational culture that can affect employees perceived job performance. Managers, thus, can tailor their dependence on EMA as high or low, depending on their task's characteristics, to maximize the job performance in the workplace. Overall, this study strengthens our knowledge regarding the impact of mobile applications in organizational contexts, technology acceptance and the role of task characteristics. To conclude, we hope that our research inspires future studies exploring digital productivity in the workplace and/or taking the role of EMA into account for employee job performance.

The Study of Prevention focus and Personality impact on adoption of Mobile convenient payments (예방초점 성향 및 성격과 모바일 간편 결제 시스템에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to forage for the factors for explaining the adoption behavior of the mobile convenient payment system based on the Personality Trait, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, and Regulatory focus. Design/methodology/approach This study made a design of the research model by integrating the factors of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology with the factors of Big five personality traits on the basis of Samrt device environment. In addition, this study, did empirical analysis of the structural equation model by PLS(Partial Least Squares) in order to find out the relationship of personal factors and mobile convenient payment system's features. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that the acceptance of mobile convenient payment systems is influence by personality traits and factors based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and trust. In addition, this study find out that the behavior of an adoption of mobile convenient payment systems according to the type of regulatory focus.

  • This paper presents a modified localization scheme of a mobile robot. When it navigates, the position error of a robot is increased and doesn't go to a goal point where the robot intends to go at the beginning. The objective of localization is to estimate the position of a robot precisely. Many algorithms were developed and still are being researched for localization of a mobile robot at present. Among them, a localization algorithm named continuous localization proposed by Schultz has some merits on real-time navigation and is easy to be implemented compared to other localization schemes. Continuous Localization (CL) is based on map-matching algorithm with global and local maps using only ultrasonic sensors for making grid maps. However, CL has some problems in the process of searching the best-scored-map, when it is applied to a mobile robot. We here propose fast and powerful map-matching algorithm for localization of a mobile robot by experiments.

  • Kinematic modeling is a prerequisite for motion planning and the control of mobile robots. In this paper, we proposed a new method of kinematic modeling for a type of mobile robot based on differential motion transformation. The differential motion implies a small translation and rotation in three-dimensional space in a small time interval. Thus, transformation of the differential motion gives the velocity relationship, i.e., Jacobian between two coordinate frames. Since the theory of the differential motion transformation is well-developed, it is useful for the systematic velocity kinematic modeling of mobile robots. In order to show the validity for application of the differential motion transformation, we obtained velocity kinematic models for a type of exemplar mobile robot including spherical ballbots.

  • The spread of mobile commerce due to popularization of smartphones not only broke down the boundary between online and offline, but also changed the consumer life, and hence brought change of commerce paradigm that creates new demand. The success of innovative information technology such as mobile shopping can be defined as an individual accepting the technology and continuously using it, but the studies on the usage behavior after the acceptance have been done in very restrictively, despite its importance. In this study, in order to empirically investigate the factors that influence the continuance in mobile shopping usage experience and its causal relationship, Social Cognitive Theory and Habit Theory were applied to IS Continuance Model, and the extended IS Continuance Model was suggested and proved. As a result, the usefulness, enjoyment, and self-efficacy perceived in usage experience significantly influence satisfaction, and usefulness, self-efficacy, and satisfaction influence habit. Also, usefulness, self-efficacy, satisfaction, and habit significantly influence continuance intention. This study provides a valuable asset in providing an opportunity to understand the usage behavior of mobile shopping service users after the acceptance, and furthermore proving directionality in improving customer loyalty.

  • Purpose In order to find out the influential factors to accept the mobile convenient payment service like Apple pay or Samsung Pay based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology according to the type of High and Low value payments. Design/methodology/approach This research model is designed on the factors of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and simultaneously analysed, or performed the empirical analysis of the PLS-SEM(Partial Least Squares structural equation model) in order to forage for the association among mobile convenient payment service's features. Findings According to the empirical analysis consequence, this research confirmed that the adoption of mobile convenient payment services is influence by features on the basis of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, mobility, and trust. Also, this paper figure out that the behavior of an user acceptance of mobile convenient payment services according to the type of high and low value payments.
