Context Awareness Reasoning System for Personalized Services in Ubiquitous Mobile Environments (유비쿼터스 모바일 환경에서 개인화 서비스를 위한 상황인지 추론 시스템)

  • This paper proposed the context awareness reasoning system to provide the personalized services dynamically in a ubiquitous mobile environments. The proposed system is designed to provide the personalized services to mobile users and consists of the context aggregator and the knowledge manager. The context aggregator can collect information from networks through Open API Gateway as well as sensors in a various ubiquitous environment. And it can also extract the place types through the geocoding and the social address domain ontology. The knowledge manager is the core component to provide the personalized services, and consists of activity reasoner, user pattern learner and service recommender to provide the services predict by extracting the optimized service from user situations. Activity reasoner uses the ontology reasoning and user pattern learner learns with previous service usage history and contexts. And to design service recommender easy to flexibly apply in dynamic environments, service recommender recommends service in the only use of current accessible contexts. Finally, we evaluate the learner and recommender of proposed system by simulation.

A routing Algorithm by Broadcasting a Bitmap in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서의 비트맵 브로드캐스팅 라우팅 알고리즘)

  • Current routing in sensor networks focuses on finding methods for energy-efficient route setup and reliable relaying of data from the sensors to the sink so that the lifetime of the network is maximized. The existing routing protocols do not have routing tables to determine a path when packets are transferred. A sensor network by a routing table increases a cost of maintaining and updating a path, because sensor nodes have characteristics to be mobile and constrained capacity and resources. This paper proposes a new routing algorithm by broadcasting a bitmap in order to reduce the number of messages transferred when routing paths are established. Each node has a routing table with a bitmap, which contains link information. A bitmap is formed two-dimensional array, which consists of each row and column represented with a bit. The node only updates its own bitmap if it receives a bitmap from another adjacent nodes after the broadcasting. There by, each node has a bitmap with partial links information not total links information on the network. The proposed routing algorithm reduces the number of messages for routing establishment at least 10% compared with the previous algorithms.

  • The interconnection of mobile devices in urban environments can open up a lot of vistas for collaboration and content-based services. This will require setting up of a network in an urban environment which not only provides the necessary services to the user but also ensures that the network is secure and energy efficient. In this paper, we propose a secure, energy efficient dynamic routing protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks in urban environments. A decision is made by every node based on various parameters like longevity, distance, battery power which measure the node and link quality to decide the next hop in the route. This ensures that the total load is distributed evenly while conserving the energy of battery-constrained nodes. The protocol also maintains a trusted population for each node through Dynamic Trust Factor (DTF) which ensures secure communication in the environment by gradually isolating the malicious nodes. The results obtained show that the proposed protocol when compared with another energy efficient protocol (MMBCR) and a widely accepted protocol (DSR) gives far better results in terms of energy efficiency. Similarly, it also outdoes a secure protocol (QDV) when it comes to detecting malicious nodes in the network.

  • Many researches in wireless sensor networks have used a geographic routing to effectively disseminate data between sinks and sources. To know the location information, the geographic routing has proposed two manners. A sink-initiated and a source-initiated are flooding to disseminate its location information in WSN. However, these two manners have two problems. Firstly, whenever they move, they flood their location information. Secondly, their location information is disseminated unnecessary nodes besides nodes which send and receive data in actually. Therefore, this paper proposes a protocol that can solve the two problems and disseminate effectively data between few sinks and few sources. The proposed protocol exploits a location information manager that manages location information of the sinks and the sources. We also compare the performance of the proposed protocol with the existing protocols through a simulation.

  • There is a new evolution in technological advancement taking place called the Internet of Things (IoT), The IoT enables physical world objects in our surrounding to be connected to the Internet. ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band that is 2.4GHz band authorized free of charge is being widely used for smart devices. Accordingly studies have been continuously conducted on the possibility of coexistence among nodes using ISM band. In particular, the interference of IEEE 802.11b based Wi-Fi devices using overlapping channel during communication among IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor nodes suitable for low-power, low-speed communication using ISM band. Because serious network performance deterioration of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we will propose an algorithm that identifies the possibility of using more accurate channels by mixing utilization of interference signal and RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) Min/Max/Activity of Interference signal by wireless sensor nodes. In addition, it will verify our algorithm by using OPNET Network verification simulator.

  • Sensor networks are an emerging area of mobile computing. Networked sensors represent a new design paradigm enabled by advances in micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and low power technology. Created with integrated circuit (IC) technology and combined with computational logic, these 'smart' sensors have the benefit of small size, low cost and power consumption, and, the capability to perform on-board computation. Though this recent technological innovation has shown a significant promise in many application domains, it has also exposed several technical limitations that must be improved. In this paper, we discuss the system deploy issues for infrared thermo sensor camera calibration.

RSSI based Intelligent Indoor Location Estimation Robot using Wireless Sensor Network technology (무선 센서네트워크 기술을 활용한 RSSI기반의 지능형 실내위치추정 로봇)

  • This paper describes indoor location estimation intelligent robot. It is loaded indoor location estimation function using RSSI based indoor location estimation system and wireless sensor networks. Spartan III(Xilinx, U.S.A.) is used as a main control device in the mobile robot and the current direction data is collected in the indoor location estimation system. The data is transferred to the wireless sensor network node attached to the mobile robot through Zigbee/IEEE 802.15.4, a wireless communication. After receiving it, with the data of magnetic compass the node is aware of and senses the direction the robot head for and the robot moves to its destination. Indoor location estimation intelligent robot is can be moved efficiently and actively without obstacle on flat ground to the appointment position by user.

  • Currently, the drone is considered as a mobile base station of USN as a method to act as a base station using USN in existing LTE-M and LTE networks for data transmission in unmanned ships. Therefore, the drone, which is a mobile base station, is a sink node equipped with an LTE modem or a short-range communication modem, and can collect safety information of ship operation from the sensor node and transmit the safety information to the ship or transmit the information between the ships. As, if a short-range network is formed by using drones, it will form a communication network around unmanned ships and will be advantageous for collecting information using security and environmental sensors. In this paper, we propose a method to transmit environmental sensor data and to utilize communication between ships using drones to secure the surrounding information necessary for AI operation of unmanned ships in the future.

Compressed Sensing Based Low Power Data Transmission Systems in Mobile Sensor Networks (모바일 센서 네트워크에서 압축 센싱을 이용한 저전력 데이터 전송 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a system in a large-scale environment, such as desert and ocean, that can reduce the overall transmission power consumption in mobile sensor network. It is known that the transmission power consumption in wireless sensor network is proportional to the square of transmission distance. Therefore, if the locations of mobile sensors are far from the sink node, the power consumption required for data transmission increases, leading to shortened operating time of the sensors. Hence, in this paper, we propose a system that can reduce the power consumption by allowing to transmit data only if the transmission range of the sensors is within a predetermined distance. Moreover, the energy efficiency of the overall sensor network can even be improved by reducing the number of data transmissions at the sink node to gateway based on compressed sensing. The proposed system is actually implemented using Arduino and Raspberry Pi and it is confirmed that source data can be approximately decoded even when the gateway received encoded data fewer than the required number of data from the sink node. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed in theory.
