  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the implementation of WML and WMLScript by using the Openwave WAP simulator. For this purpose, previous literature review was done on the studies about the structures of WAP systems, types of WAP Browsers, and development methods of WAP contents. Afterwards, I attempt to implement WML and WMLScript by using an openwave Phone simulator, openwave WAP simulator, openwave HTTP simulator and Nokia Mobile Internet Toolkit. Few studies have been completed on implementation of WMLScript and it's complex process. Therefore, this study explores the necessary implementation steps and develops an easier way to create and experiment mobile applications using WMLScript.

  • This paper suggests a multiple robot simulator which considers the uncertainties in robot motion and sensing. A mobile robot moves with errors due to some kinds of uncertainties from actuators, wheels, electrical components, environments. In addition, sensors attached to a mobile robot can't make accurate output information because of uncertainties of the sensor itself and environment. Uncertainties in robot motion and sensing leads researchers find difficulty in building mobile robot navigation algorithms. Generally, a robot algorithm without considering unexpected uncertainties fails to control its action in a real working environment and it leads to some troubles and damages. Thus, the authors propose a simulator model which includes robot motion and sensing uncertainties to help making robust algorithms. Sensor uncertainties are applied in range sensors which are widely used in mobile robot localization, obstacle detection, and map building. The paper shows performances of the proposed simulator by comparing it with a simulator without any uncertainty.

  • Recently, mobile communication systems are suffering from exponentially increasing data traffic. As a promising solution to the increase in data traffic, a coordinated multi-point transmission and reception (CoMP) scheme has been proposed. Although a great deal of research has been done on this new technology, the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP has not been evaluated properly in a typical indoor environment. To address this, we have developed a system-level simulator and evaluated the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP. Unlike previous works, we have used an actual antenna pattern in our simulator and link-level results are properly taken into account through link-level abstraction. By using a system-level simulator, we have evaluated the performance of mobile communication systems with CoMP in an indoor environment and found that unlike an outdoor cellular environment, CoMP may not improve the performance of overall mobile communication systems in an indoor environment.

  • Traditionally, simulation method is used to test and evaluate the performance of communication protocol or functional elements for mobile communication service. In this paper, wireless network simulator is implemented using the C++ object-oriented programming language. This simulator can simulate wireless data services, like as ad-hoc networks, by considering the user's mobility. In this paper, the simulator includes network traffic model to reflect wireless data service and traffic source model to represent a user's mobility similar to real service environment and traffic characteristics can be reflected on the simulation, and also more accurate simulation results can be got through that. In addition, by using object-oriented techniques, new service feature or environment can be easily added or changed so that the developed mobile communication simulator can reflect the real service environment all the time. This simulator can be used in adjusting the characteristics of wireless data hosts following the mobility of the user, and also can be used in building new wireless ad-hoc network routing protocols.

  • We present a use. interface(UI) simulator for developing a mobile phone. This simulator consists of 3 major modules: Graphic Tool Editor, User Interface Software(UI), and Network Command Processor(NCP). The Graphic Tool Editor can design a virtual mobile terminal. The NCP sends a command to the phone and then receives its status from the phone after completion of the command. We can add or modify lots of features easily to the phone using the UI module. These modules can interact each other by sharing the common area in the memory. By doing so, these modules can exchange their status and data to operate in real-time. We have designed and tested a virtual prototyping phone for the LGP 3200 manufactured by LGIC by using the simulator. Through a series of experiment, we have believed that our virtual prototyping interactive simulator can do shorten its development and testing cycle by applying it in the early design phase.

  • This study presents the remote control of a mobile robot using iPhone based on ad hoc communication. Two control interfaces are proposed to control a mobile robot using iPhone : Remote control by a user and autonomous control. To evaluate the effectiveness of algorithms for trajectory following, a simulator are developed where a virtual robot follows a referenced trajectory in a monitor by iPhone interface. In the proposed simulator, some algorithms are tested how they work well or not for trajectory following of a mobile robot. Comparative results by remote user control and autonomous control are shown. Results of an experiment show that the proposed simulator can be effectively used for testing the effectiveness of autonomous tracking algorithms.

  • Mobile air conditioning systems work under widely changing operating conditions. To understand the system behavior under such dynamic conditions, a test facility that can impose transient loads as well as conducting dynamic measurements is needed. To test mobile air conditioning systems including their dynamic performance under various drive cycle patterns without using full scale vehicles in a wind tunnel, a new test facility, called "dynamic simulator," is described. It can replicate real vehicle operating conditions by interacting with the system being tested based on the measured system performance and subsequently adjusting the air properties returning to the test system based on the results of a numerical cabin model. A new dynamic simulator has been designed, constructed, and verified for performing dynamic tests. It was successful in controlling the temperature and relative humidity of the air returning to the test unit within ${\pm}0.7^{\circ}C$ and ${\pm}4%$ of their respective intended values. The verification test under the New European Driving Cycle demonstrated that detailed transient behavior of the mobile air conditioning system could be measured by using this dynamic simulator.

  • This paper compares two collision avoidance algorithms using a simulator. The collision avoidance is vital for autonomous navigation of a mobile robot. Artificial potential field method and elastic force method are major approaches for the collision avoidance. The two algorithms are compared in the respect of the time for motion completion and the length of the motion path. The simulator is developed based on IPC(Inter Process Communication) and a differential drive mobile robot is used for the comparison.

  • Since there is currently no commercial protocol simulator for CDMA mobile communication system, we need to develop a General-Purposed Protocol Test Simulator (G-PTS). This paper is concerned with the design and implementation of this G-PTS contains the multi-scenario generating functions, multi-tasking kernel and multiple interface functions. Thus it can be utilized in the test category using multiple base-stations such as soft-handoff, 3-way handoff and mulit-party call features. G-PTS is verified using the model of CDMA soft handoff scenario and the result shows its reliable operations.

  • In this paper, we present three kinds of development support systems (test and evaluation systems), which are developed to fulfill the specific needs in accordance with the CDMA Mobile System (CMS) developmental phases. The support systems consist of the mobile switch traffic simulator (MSTS), the mobile call simulator (MCS), and the CDMA mobile system analysis tools (CSAT). The MSTS is used for the simulation of the base station in the stage of development of the mobile exchange, and the MCS is used for the overall performance test of the CMS. The CSAT is used for the CMS performance evaluation. These systems have been used for the CMS development successfully.
